  1. The budget for the NDUS for 2011-2013 has $29,100,000 (other funds) for the BSA at NDSU and $5,000,000 (other funds) for the IPF at NDSU but nothing listed under UND for any type of athletic department building. NDUS budget
  2. Does the NCC have room for the U of Minnesota? Maybe they could take UND's spot.
  3. Does anyone remember that UC-Davis beat Stanford in football last fall AND collected a big paycheck at the same time?
  4. I don't think that the fact UND has hockey will necessarily help getting into a conference, but on the other hand I don't think that it will put anything in the way of a conference membership either.
  5. Big Sky advantage for NDSU/SDSU : football (autobid and number of opponents) Mid-Con advantage for NDSU/SDSU : home for all other sports (except wrestling) I think most of the coaches at the SU's except for the football coaches are happier with the prospect of joining the Mid-Con over the BSC.
  6. I think it would take some investigation in both athletic budgets to determine if payments for construction of facilities is included. My guess is that the upcoming BSA project will not inflate next years NDSU athletic budget by the $8+ million. The money is being raised by the NDSU development foundation and I'm guessing that the payments for construction wont be reported in the budget. Things like rent payments for the Alerus and the Fargodome would of course be in the budgets of both. I have read about one time expenses in the recent UND budget but I'm not sure what those were. Comparing budgets of the two is a tough call anyway because of the sports one school has that the other does not. And looking at the current UND budget with travel to NCC opponents compared to the NDSU budget with travel all over the country is not realistic either. Then those breakdowns that we have seen posted on the web have a category which contains revenue and expenses that are not assigned to any specific sport. Each school in the country probably has a different way of accounting for money that ends up in that category. So even when you try to compare the football or basketball amounts, they might not contain exactly the same information from campus to campus.
  7. The Metrodome's new turf is permanently laid on the floor. They purchased an interlocking heavy gauge plastic covering system that covers the entire floor for another type of event. I was at the NCAA basketball regional this spring and walked over that floor surface to get access to the temporary seating. It must be tough stuff to allow monster truck shows and not have damage to the turf underneath!
