What has Moore done offensively? The numbers don’t lie. Moore costs this team more than Bast would. Ha.

13 points to 3 points. He is also one of 2 defensemen who can skate the puck out (other being Jandric). Bast stands flat footed so he never can break the puck out leading to a lot of chasing the puck in the defensive zone. Watch Moore hit the portal. He's very talented and it will come back to haunt us.

Do you think the D-core as a whole has played well this year? Who would he replace? Take your pick for most of the year. I would say outside of Jandric and Frisch, there have been nights where every other player has played poor enough where if the coaching staff was consistent, would have sat the following night. You see Farmer in Denver? He was a one-man lowlight that entire weekend. What I've noticed this year over any other is some players can make mistakes over and over and their roll isn't affected. Others don't get that luxury.

I agree with this. Unlike most on this board, I like Moore and think he has a lot of upside, particularly offensively. He might be the best returning defenseman unless Frisch returns. The problem I have with sitting Johnson is that he is young and is being given no margin for error while we play a grad transfer that has not been particularly good since the start of the new year. I don't understand the loyalty to Farmer, who is a portal transfer, over a highly drafted, highly sought after recruit who has a lot of upside. I get why Sidorski plays regularly--he has been suprisingly good as the year has gone on, but if he was not playing well, I would prefer to see the coaches play the young guy over a portal transfer.

So you were glad to see him go?

No, I love blue chip talent and generational talent, both qualities of Jake Sanderson. However, he was clearly ready and the success he will have at the next level will result in more blue chip recruits following his path to UND. That's how it works. I'm not sure fans can appreciate how good he was at UND and how good he will likely be in the NHL. He is arguably the best defenseman to ever play at UND and I was in school when James Patrick played at UND.

I wanted two more years of Jake. I hope he made the right move, but only time will tell.

Well, in that case it is a lost opportunity and such a shame. I am sure that had he known you wanted him back for 2 more years, he would have obliged and turned down his opportunity to play a top 4 defenseman role for Ottawa.

it is different now, compared to then.  it just is.  time marches on

and as far as duluth, i much rather spend a winter there than here...at least there is things to do there, compared to here

What is there to do in Duluth short of getting mugged by a drunken sailor from Superior? Duluth is the equivalent of Siberia, only worse because Drunk Hockey Guy and Bruce Ciskie live there. I can't think of a worse place to live in the country.

not saying that there isnt any blame to be put on coaching, but, the overall recruit isnt the same kind of kid they were10-15 years ago...its just different, and that may be a problem we cant geographicly overcome moving forward.  the best U.S. born players have a ton of options now, compared to only a decade ago.

I'm calling BS on this entire conversation about geography. It is no different than it was when UND landed Parise, Toews and Oshie who were all heavily recruited. Last year, Cooley from Pennsylvania was down to U of M and UND, but unfortunately chose U of M. Kent Johnson was down to UND and Michigan, but chose Michigan. Jake Sanderson chose UND. Isaac Howard chose UMD over higher profile schools and Duluth is the butthole capital of America. If you think Grand Forks is bad, try living in Duluth for a winter. UND has the advantage of facilities and getting players to the NHL. That has not changed.

If it was about geography, Arizona State would already be a hockey power. Why is Knies at U of M?

I would rather move away from 5th year guys and bring in talented recruits that can progress for a few years as well.

That said, if Frisch and Caulfield decided to come back for a 5th year next season, the team would be better IMO.

I don't disagree with you, but it is a mixed bag. There have been hits and misses. Conner Ford was a really good pickup last year because UND needed a center that could win faceoffs, and Jandric has been a very nice find, and arguably the best defenseman on the team. I'm not sure that Senden and Hain have hurt UND, although it is debatable whether they have helped. Farmer has been disappointing, but Sidorski is better than I expected. I would also welcome Frisch back and really hope he comes back because they will lose most of the D corps.

I mean, I think Western is significantly better than UMD and I'd be surprised if we got anywhere near catching them. I also do not want to play them. I don't think Omaha will stay at 2, whatsoever. I frankly don't think they are a good team. I'd say I'm cheering for WMU to beat UMD with the long game that Omaha will fall to the 4/5 ring. Your thoughts?

I agree. First, Western is going to be top 4 in the league because they have an easier schedule. Thus, we want UMD and Omaha to lose because those are 2 teams that we could realistically catch for home ice. Second, I can't EVER cheer for Duluth. I know Scott Sandelin and like him, but I can't stand Duluth, their fans or their announcers.

    Wow.. talk about ignorance.

Detroit wishes it was Vancouver. ... so they'd be that much closer to relevance again.

Where is Detroit in the standings? You don't know without looking.

Who do they have in the system? You don't know without looking.

Is Detroit rebuilding? You couldn't figure that out by looking.

    Do you know why?

Because Detroit is irrelevant. Has been for years, will be for years.

As far a a 6 point plug in the American league is concerned...

    Detroit is purgatory....

    Grand Rapids is hell.

Why don't you take about 30 seconds and tell us everything you know about hockey. From your thousands of idiotic posts, the answer is already apparent.

    Spicer goal....no.

    Johnson start....no.

    "Culture".....yes (too many times)

28 in a suit.....I laugh at this silliness. No.

Have to go back to DeRidder Friday.

Lineups will be basically the same as usual cause that what this season has become. Doing the same thing over and over yet expecting different results.

    Split. Good guys Saturday.

If DeRidder starts both games, UND sweeps. I agree with the rest. James and Brent Johnson need to play.
