Goon, I agree with you. With the way things are for the Sioux right now, they have a very good chance of finishing 5th in the WCHA. Hopefully that would be enough to get into the NCAA's. Regardless, the Sioux need to give themselves the best seed possible, with the regional on home ice. I would think winning these last 2 non-conference games against a reasonable opponent will really help at the end of the year. I think the Sioux need to play these as if they are critical to the post-season. I'm not as convinced as you that Harvard is a patsy, however. But I do think the Sioux should approach these games like losing is not an option.

I like the pretty colors.

Hahvad is currently 17th in the Krach rankings on this site. Sioux are 8th. Hahvad leads the ECAC while the Sioux are mired in 6th place in the WCHA though they have 2 games in hand over 5th place Duluth. Hahvad's record is 9-5-1. The Sioux's record is 12-7-1. Hahvad has a SOS of about 38. The combined records of the teams they've beat is 41-40-4 and includes good teams like BC (currently 9th in Krach), New Hampshire (18th), St. Lawrence (5th) and Colgate (10th). They've lost to teams with a combined record of 20-23-2 including dogs like Quinnipiac (43rd in Krach) and Yale (44th). Other losses are all in-conference with Cornell (13th), Clarkson (21st) and Darmouth (35th). Looks like they are capable of just about anything. Sioux SOS is about 60. Only 5 teams have played a more difficult schedule according to Krach. The Sioux don't have too many notable wins, though they have beaten Miami (2nd in Krach), New Hampshire (18th), Denver (15th). The Sioux have lost to Michigan State (22nd in Krach) and St. Cloud State (27th). All other losses are to Denver (15th), Minnesota (7th), Wisconsin (1st). Not exactly poor company. Relevant to Hahvad's current Krach ranking (17th), the Sioux have beaten and tied New Hampshire (18th) on the road, and split at home with Denver (15th). It would seem that the Sioux should be expected to beat Hahvad, especially being at home, but the paper also seems to indicate this series is up for grabs, especially with the Sioux short a number of important players.

Question: Do power play goals count for or against +/-? I'm not sure, but I thought I once read that they don't. That may enter into your equation.

Blog There's a blog out there that posted this. Since there's no place to respond on the blog I'll post it here. The allegation continues about Blais cutting players and how Lucia "handles things differently". Maybe if Lucia had been honest with Borgen, like Blais was with players, Borgen might have moved on before the season instead of wasting a year of eligibility. Sometimes Blais blunt honesty with a player looked harsh on the outside but was better for the player in the long run.

Great win for the Sioux. Nice to see them take it to a quality opponent at home.

TH says Zajac has been a man among boys this weekend.
-
Zajac sets up Stafford for the shorthanded goal! GL says Zajac did unbelievable work!
-
Chorney with a shot and possibly tipped by Oshie for the hattrick!
-
Proving that TH and GL can see things through their green glasses too.
-
BSU scores, but TH and GL are adamant they were well offsides.
-
Just stopped and restarted and it's fine.
-
TH says it has been a mismatch this period, and immediately the Beavs get a chance and Jarvis skates past a rebound with an open net! Whew!
-
No, TH says one guy was already in the box, so just coincidental minors. GL says the floodgates are about to open.
-
Oshie had tried to feed Spirko at the corner of the net but the puck went in off the BSU player's skate.
-
Zajac in the box for roughing, but BSU gets a double minor.
-
Off skate of BSU player and Oshie gets his 10th goal! (Jody ? was someone from the REA that the student body president was going to be meeting with).
-
54 seconds left to kill Porter and Fabian out on the kill

Student body president on with GL. Was his idea to get the band down in the lower bowl. Says he believes the Students should get 2 lower bowl end sections and 2 upper bowl end sections (I think that's what I heard). Feels that would be a better arrangement. Will accept either end, but prefers the end the Sioux shoot at twice. Just wants to keep the same number of seats as they currently have. Would rope off the upper row to allow the suites to see. Feels there's been a huge improvement in creating a better atmosphere for families. Will be talking with Jody? and Tom Buning in the next couple of weeks to discuss moving. Also to discuss student complaints about standing. GL says he wants to have him back on later in the year for an update on these issues. Sounds like a bright kid.

I knew 1/4 of that answer without looking it up. But I should have known Peters too. (4016!)

Parise with 10 saves, Sedevie with 5. I don't like that ratio, boys. We'll still be killing the penalty at the start of the next period. Hopefully once that is over we will take over this game. It's my impression (I'm only half paying attention as I'm research digital cameras while listening in) is that the Sioux are starting to even things up a bit, and just have to get through Prp's pk.

I might have been posting my age had they been saved. ;-)

Takes too much work.
