  1. The Wild and Blues play tonight at 7:00 p.m., followed by the Stars and Blue Jackets at 9:00 p.m. on the NHL Network.
  2. They are, in fact, turkey vultures. We live in Bismarck and, for the last 3 summers, we have had about 40-50 of them perched on a water tower near our house nightly. (And we live in the middle of town.) I have heard they hang out down by the river during the day. It is weird to watch them come in to roost for the evening, as they don't flap their wings much, they kind of just glide in for a landing. The first time it happened, we kind of freaked out because it started out with one or two and pretty soon the sky above our house was filled with these huge, gliding birds. It reminded me of a scene out of "The Birds". They are relatively harmless and don't make any noise (I think they can hiss?), but I guess they make quite a mess with their droppings, as they can be rather toxic to car finishes.

  8. Not sure if anyone saw this young man interviewed during the Pens/Flyers game on Sunday, but here is an article about him. It is very inspirational and I thought others would be interested in seeing it! Hopefully this link works. Teen is running out of innings, but the game isn't over - Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

  25. Our group was at the Doubletree as well. We were more than pleased with the hotel. The rooms were nice and clean and the staff (at least the ones we spoke with), were very nice and more than accomodating. (The warm chocolate chip cookies at check-in were awesome!!) Our room had a very nice view of downtown Denver, as well as the mountains. (We actually thought the gal that made our reservations was lying to us about the mountain view, that is, until the smog cleared a bit on day #3. )The sports bar and Starbuck's right in the lobby didn't hurt either! Both came in handy on more than one occasion. All-in-all, we had a lot of fun in Denver.
