Sad moment in time for the greater Grand Forks communities. Large crowd attended ceremony held at the 3-Bay Hangar on the base yesterday. The prospects appear positive going forward with the transition to UAS mission going forward. We are fortunate to still have the base and Warriors of the North as part of our community. The GF Central boys hockey team plays Grafton this evening in a key game for both teams. Grafton defeated GF Red River this past Saturday in Grand Forks and is more than capable of defeating GF Central. GF Central has a talented team, but must maintain its composure and play disciplined hockey. JV game starts at 5:15 pm with the varsity game scheduled for a 7:30 pm start. I'm not aware of any radio coverage, but 1340 AM out of Grafton might be broadcasting the game?

K-Dawg and Gretzky back on the big board last night at REA. The Subway commercial revived! Didn't get the reaction Beer Grandma is generating, but it was nice to see the boys making a comeback.

Had the pleasure of talking with Mark "K-DawG" Kauk last evening at the Sioux-DU game. I've come to know Mark fairly well over the years and not met many others who can match his knowledge of the local sports scene. K-Dawg is versed on youth sports and beyond. He attends/supports all he can. Mark is our walking local sports ESPN channel. We are blessed to have him as a mainstay of our community. Mark shared his friend Gretzky has been working alot. Bring back the Subway commercial! P.S. The article in the GF Herald is in the archives titles "One of the Boys" and published Nov 15, 1998. Maybe someone has the article for posting otherwise a $2.95 charge exists to access it from the GF Herald site.

HAK had a lengthy discussion with Anderson & crew at the end of period 2. You could see HAK was heated and it didn't seem to end with pleasantries being exchanged.

Get the BROOMS ready for the SIOUX SWEEP tonight. DU tried to play straight up hockey and tried the rough play--both failed. Not sure what there strategy will be this evening? Sioux will take care of there side of the street once again. Testwuide & Vossberg might get some special love and attention. Both certainly performed cheap shot acts that won't be forgotten. I've got a feeling the Sioux will come out buzzing tonight and play 60-minutes of quality hockey. This will continue through Game#2 and have the brooms ready! Yep, I'm a homer and bleed green, but I'm wearing the black jersey tonight. Heading over to the arena shortly to catch all the pregame activities. Go Sioux...Play Hard...Play Smart...NOT IN OUR HOUSE MENTALITY!
