  1. Thanks for all the kind words. Gordy was laid to rest today...the family appreciated all of the sincere posts...thanks again!
  2. Gordy Hangsleben passed away on July 16, 2006 after a year long battle with lung cancer. He is a native of East Grand Forks and a first cousin to Alan Hangsleben, who also played for the Sioux. Gordy played for the Sioux during the mid seventies. He was a dedicated Sioux fan long after he played. He had lived in Minneapolis (Gopher country) and still proudly wore Sioux apparel to every Sioux-Gopher game he attended...no matter how much guff he got! His last game he watched in person was last season when the Sioux beat the Gophers at home! He was able to meet some players after the game and talked of how much fun he had. Please take a moment to remember someone who was not only a great player and fan but a phenomenal person. Here is a photo of him at "Meet the Sioux" in 1974
  3. That's sick, he's like 19 yrs old
  4. It looks like Oshie has a legitimate shot at getting The Herald Man of the Year here in Everett, WA. They've featured all the candidates and it looks like it going down to Oshie and John Brockman, a local basketball prep athlete now a Washington Husky. If they consider what was done in 2005, Oshie solidified his case by leading Warroad HS to it's first undefeated season (29-0-2) in its storied history; capturing his 2nd of two MN State Class A championships, scored 37G+63A=100 points his senior year; played 11 games for the Sioux Falls Stampede in USHL; was the 24th Overall pick by the St. Louis Blues in NHL Entry Draft; represented Team USA in World Jr. Championships as was selected by head coach Walt Kyle as his MVP; and had a steller frosh season w/ UND. If he doesn't get it, it sounds like another Phil Kessel situation where the kid has been under the radar again like usual. But if he does, finally he will get the recognition he deserves back home in Everett as one of it's native sons who has burst upon the sports scene nationally.
  5. I agree, TJ is one heck of a guy. He has signed sticks and etc left and right. He's always honing over his little sister who is 2. Very family oriented man. Little kids in Washington have a new hero, it's so cute!
  6. Again...there is an auction for 4 tickets to the UND vs. Boston game on Thursday. No bids 11 hours left. Starting price is $120! Another FYI... as I said before, the more green the better!
  7. Just an FYI to everyone on here. there is an auction on Ebay with 9 hours left. So far no one has bid on any of the tickets. THere asking face value plus $5 shipping. Keep an eye on it. Let's get as many SIOUX FANS as we can at this thing!!!

  11. Has there been a topic started to update the progress of these players and their teams? If not, let's do it. Since the games aren't on TV (at least I've heard they aren't) can anyone who finds out scores of games or progress of our wonderful sioux boys update it here!? 13. If it is of any interest to you, To save on those expensive NY to MPLS to GF flights, You can purchase E-Certificates on EBAY. Type in northwest coupon and you'll find them. I've used them whenever I fly and I believe they have set round trip costs for $268-$298. Not a bad deal and they really work. Good Luck!
  14. I do believe I have the video of Oshie and that amazing stick/ball combination! I like to watch it when pro hockey starts to suck!
