i can't wait til the split between the p5 and g5 happens here shortly and the ndac has to decide whether to join und, idaho, montana, montana state, and whatever western schools to form a nice 8 or 10 team FBS conference OR keeping up racking FCS championships against towson, fordham, and richmond.

    what does that mean?

11k sounds better for print. Those 1k booing will decrease. Not saying Fighting Hawks could land Looker out of a job if the new president doesn't like that omission. Don't people realize changes that could happen to the REA when UND gains control of the building? If you see a Hawk next to a Sioux logo, reality will really set in.

Why would the hell would the Engelstad's give control to UND?

  3. #just_don't_get_the_appeal

the appeal is that it's as fast as lightning.  if you follow the right people you can find information in real time.  if i want to know the score of a game, national breaking news, etc...  i jump on there and find it 2x's as fast as thru the web.  message boards are slowly becoming extinct.

ok, back to going round-and-round about the nickname. ;)

  4. I like the Heralds poll better which includes none of the above. This poll to me is like answering the question; What would you like to accomplish today? 1.) Drown 2.) Be electrocuted. 3.) Get shot in the face. 4.) Head on collision with semi. 5.) Sky dive without a parachute

What about 6.) None of the above?

By the way........ guess which option in the herald is winning by a landslide?

yep yep yep yep yep yep

  5. I wonder how many people on here went to UND but are from another state. It's easy to say things like this about "fans of the hockey team" who didn't go to the school, but I could say something similar about somebody who went to UND but is not from North Dakota. They didn't grow up in North Dakota. They don't get how much all this means to people that did grow up in North Dakota. I grew up in Mandan. I didn't go to UND or NDSU, but I grew up loving both schools. I went to the University of Minnesota--mainly because I had family living in the Twin Cities that I could stay with, but not in Grand Forks. (I would have chosen UND over both NDSU and Minnesota, if all things were equal. I loved UND when I went on my campus visit.) In my day we were taught North Dakota history extensively. A lot of that was about the natives that lived in what became North Dakota. We took pride in it. It was our history. We were taught that the natives had honor, pride, were family-oriented, etc. We'd like to think we were cut from the same cloth. This isn't an easy transition, and it burns our ass that the Fighting Sioux name was lost because outside forces got overly P.C. It's easy to say "get over it," but this means something to us. It's why there is such emotion that boils over when the people are given five lousy names to vote on. (I'd argue four lousy names and one solid one that will likely get cut before a final vote.)

Nice post. This also reinforces whey UND cannot pick 'North Stars'.

  6. I personally hate that logo. Would like to think they could do better than that; not visually appealing at all. Would look hideous on a hockey jersey, and even worse on other sporting apparel.

i doubt that would even be close to resembling a final Hawks logo.  One thing going for the Hawks imo is that way is you could do a few creative things with the feathers to pay homage to the Sioux logo last used by the university.

  7. Not that I've seen many of these assistant coach job descriptions but i've seen a few job descriptions in my day. This seems to me to have someone's name written on it, if we could just decipher the code

i agree. it's written for the guy they want.  question is who.
