  1. He was in a pro camp, he can't play in NCAA. The NCAA would've had big problems if they let him play. My question is what about the games he played in? Shouldn't they have to forfeit them? The NCAA has ruled UND cheated
  2. Come on Kevin Fee! Yes, he had some good points, but this "mentor"? I'm sure this guy was was friends with many Houston area kids...their all great basketball players.
  3. It is a tough break for UND. The one question I have is this. If the NCAA found him ineligible, UND has to feel fortunate they don't have to forfeit any games. That's crazy to me. So what the NCAA is saying is this...recruit a kid who has played pro ball, use him for 15-20 games, find out you can't use him, then drop him, but you get to keep all your wins? Doesn't seem right. 3.0 GPA, that's great to hear. I heard he just got his G.E.D. this past summer, I hope he's turning the corner and can find a pro team to play on
  4. You can't be serious? UND loses to UMC in men's hoops? That's simply astounding!!! Myron Allen or not, a team with 10 full rides, a budget bigger than most teams in the country and you lose to a winless team with about 3 full rides and budget smaller than most NAIA schools? It's unthinkable and embarrassing if your a UND fan. I understand teams have off days, but it just goes to say that not all NCC or NSIC team are weak. UND should be happy it's not a conference game. I'm still in shock.
  5. Southwest State may be a fit as well. Besides football, their one of the most successful programs in the NSIC. And they have a company called Schwans that may drop a bomb on the school if they decide to move. My view, one big league someday. some schools will have to step up to a certain level to do it, but may happen
  6. Talking with our coaches at SSU, they say Myron Allen (like you don't know already) is the real deal!! A great player. On the radio the Southwest-North Dakota game was great to listen to. Moorhead beat UND last night? Wow, of course I see Kolpack couldn't wait to rip UND a little today
  7. Southwest State has some new faces, was picked fifth in the NSIC coaches' poll. Playing at UND will be tough, but for any team it is a tough place to win. I hope it's a good game, good test for both teams. The SSU tournament with Mankato, Wayne State, and Michigan Tech is a great field. Too bad Mankato didn't get to play Mich Tech last weekend or during the SSU tournament coming up. Mankato is tough, alot of new faces, but a tough game with UW-Stout on Saturday? Great time of the year!
  8. SDSU Fan, one you say one sport? What about Mankato, they have two sports that are D1. men's and women's hockey, why couldn't SDSU have both go D1 in basketball. But come to think of it, I don't think you can. the only reason Mankato and other schools can is because there is no D2 hockey
  9. Good points. From what I've heard, Winona State has only about 15 rides in football. It truly is amazing what their doing. But, their in a great location with Wisconsin and Illinois not far away. New Haven? I doubt. If any NSIC joined I really believe Southwest State would think about again, like they did a year ago. But like they said two years ago when there was discussion, SSU would only go to the NCC (and this was before UNC and NDSU said they would leave) if they were fully funded in all sports. Schwan's in town is a big supporter and the talk was they may kick in alot of money toward athletics. Football at SSU is struggling, but hopefully and is, getting better. But the other SSU sports are pretty darn solid and can compete if they continue to raise more money. 9 conference titles in the last two years along with great play in the NCAA Tournaments in basketball for instance. Winona State is funded that well, I believe their just in a great location to recruit athletes
  10. Why do people think that D2 will go away? Just because scholarships may go down? I don't think D2 will ever go away, having less scholarship money doesn't mean the talent level will go down. I believe the PSAC allows only something like 15 full rides in football. The players have to go someone and if each school only had 15 rides the players would still go to the school. There really are only a few leagues in the country (I believe) that offer 36 full rides. NCC, MIAA, Gulf South, I'm sure there are more. It's basically the have and have nots in D2 football. For someone that is a fan at Southwest State and the NSIC, it's tough to feel sorry for NCC teams that complain they may be cut to 30 or down to 25 rides. I do know our AD at SSU from what I've heard is for keeping it the way it is. He thinks schools like SSU and others in the NSIC should try to get to 36 full rides instead of cutting. But it just takes time and thankfully that means getting rid of the Morris' of the world. Another subject...Is the NCC and NSIC going to combine someday? If SDSU, NDSU leave going D1 and Omaha goes to the MIAA. That leaves UND, SCSU, MSUM, AC, and USD. Along with the 9 schools (including Duluth for now) from the NSIC. A 14 team super conference. I think if that is a possibility, I would drop Crookston and maybe one more to make it 12. Or.....does the 6 NCC schools (including UM-Duluth) try to add two NSIC teams to make it 8? The make up of D2 is changing, but when? p.s. Thanks for the board, it's great!
  11. Being a fan from the NSIC (Southwest State) I've heard nothing but great things from UND men's hoops. The rumors here are UND men's hoops may win the whole damn thing! Our men's and women's teams play up there this year, should be fun
  12. You may be right about UMD playing NDSU this year, but I believe the opening is there because the Bison were supposed to play MSU Moorhead. This was the fourth year of that four year deal. From what I heard UMD plays NDSU next season. That's just what I heard.
  13. First of all, I'd like to say I love reading this site. Always love talking D2 sports. I'm a fan from Southwest State and am very interested in reading about what it going to happen to the NCC, NSIC, etc. I will agree, some of the teams in the NSIC are poor. Their getting better, but still have a ways to go. It's getting better, but I"m always reading or hearing about how poor the NSIC is. For instance BisonGuy said the NCC going D1 would mean the NCC would be the NSIC of D1. What does that mean? The NCC would win two men's basketball regional championships? (Northern STate and Southwest STate, beating NCC teams on their home courts!!). Women's basketball teams would compete for titles? (SSU defeated North Dakota in the regional semi-finals last year!!!) In football yes the league is poor, but Duluth and Winona have improved over the years to compete. And Winona with only 12-15 full rides I believe, that's amazing. I know the admins at SSU are always fundraising for more money of getting and competing at a higher level, not cutting like some schools. With Schwan's in town, that helps. Give it time, but the NSIC will continue to improve. But anyway, my belief is the two leagues will combine in a few years, minus a few schools. Maybe Crookston won't be invited, some others. Thanks again for the site
