  1. The Class B boys basketball tournament was doing fine in Bismarck until someone decided that it should be moved east, into the Bison Sports Arena and the Fargodome, I believe. The same principles apply. If that doesn't work for you, then why not move it to Fargo once in a while? Yes, the Bismarck Civic Center has ice.
  2. The state hockey tournament should be rotated between the east and west each year. The Bismarck Civic Center could host it in the west. I think the eastern schools would benefit from being on the road once in a while. The Grand Forks schools should do well in the state tournament. Has it ever been held anywhere other than Grand Forks?
  3. I think you can start with allowing schools to remain at the Division II level in all sports except football, which would then move up to the I-AA level. If Division I schools can play down a level in football, then other schools should be allowed to play up a level if they are financially able to do so.
  4. College quarterbacks at all levels tend to develop a 'go to' receiver. Most colleges will have one receiver with far more catches than the next guy. At UND, it has been guys like Jeff McElroy, Willis Stattleman, Tim Gelinske, etc.
  5. I live in Bismarck and I don't think there will be any serious effort by anyone in government to force the Sioux/Bison to play. Someone may propose it, but to be blunt about it, most of the people west of the Red River Valley don't give a rip about the Sioux/Bison rivalry. Even the graduates from each university that live around here are generally apathetic about it. I would bet that the majority of them don't even watch the football game on tv. The legislature and governor have bigger issues to deal with, such as jobs, the economy, out-migration, methamphetamines, etc.
  6. It seems like the big schools (Big 10, Pac 10, ACC, etc.) are not yet done recruiting. I don't know why, though. Once they are done, the remaining colleges will pick up. Usually the big school bring in 20-25 players per class. The ones I checked are at about 17 each (U Colorado, U Oklahoma, U South Carolina, etc.)
  7. The UND webpage stated that Lindahl had 16 rebounds. The Bismarck Tribune is probably wrong.
  8. Article on Lumbala. I'm pretty sure it is the same guy. 6-1 225. Has the physical build for D1 from the picture. http://www.canada.com/search/story.aspx?id...37-96982633daf2
  9. In regards to the GF Herald article that mentioned Andy White as an OL. Could he have meant Andy Soll? On the UND roster, White is listed as an OLB while Soll is listed as OL. Just a thought
  10. from AllCanadaGridiron: Winnipeg's CB Brandon Jordan is being looked at and is taking a serious look at North Dakota and Northern Michigan
  11. Sioux looking at a RB in Colorado: http://www.rockymountainnews.com/drmn/prep...2493600,00.html
  12. Some of the scout team players announced on the weekly TV show this year are Svidal, Cadwell, and Wise, each twice. Others included Muro, Presthus, Bauer, Hegg, Sundby, Soll, Manke, Van Dyke, and Turgeon. These were from the latter part of the season. I missed the first 3-4 programs. Lennon also announced a player from Scobey, MT, but I don't see anyone from there listed on the roster.
  13. Jeff Brandt is averaging 25 ppg for Minot State.
  14. An old article on the UND webpage twice used the word 'dismissal'. Sounds more permanent that just suspended for one year. http://www.fightingsioux.com/sports/footba...RELEASE_ID=2070
  15. The 2003 football roster is listed on the UND webpage. There are about 110 players listed. It looks like all the new recruits are in camp.
  16. KFYR TV in Bismarck tonight said that Brian Dykema committed to the University of Mary, as did Blair Sandy.
  17. Josh Bean signed with Boise State. D.J. Craft signed with Northern Colorado. No word on the other two.
  18. articles on Andy Soll http://fondyfootball.com/
  19. Sioux are checking out some prospects in Colorado. http://www.denverpost.com/Stories/0,1413,3...87%257E,00.html Go way to the bottom of the link.
  20. KXMB TV (Bismarck) last night stated that Flasher-Carson fullback/linebacker Preston Stewart (5-11, 208) signed with the Sioux. They showed a brief clip of him running the ball. Looked pretty good.
  21. I think part of why it wasn't detected was because he spent the time in junior college. The NCAA had 2 years to catch it and didn't. I think any head coach would deem someone playing 2 years at a juco as being implicitly eligible. I don't think any schools do background checks that include determining whether a potential recruit signed a professional contract.
  22. Wasn't Jeff Tesch one of the finalists to replace Roger Thomas? I suppose he would be a candidate also.
  23. In the Bismarck Tribune's pre-season football preview, they did an article on Brian Dykema. He expressed some interest in NDSU but added that he was also interested in going out of state (didn't say where). But I suppose that can change once the recruiters show up at the door.
  24. http://www.sacbee.com/content/sports/story...p-6371688c.html About half way in. talks about Sacramento State candidates.
  25. The Grand Forks Herald has listed a true freshman (Hoffelt) as a second string OT and Newhouse as a second string DE during their Saturday pre-game writeups. Have they won these spots or is the Herald in error?
