I know that Ryan played for the gophers and I had wished he had played at UND , but he is a grand forks kid and I think it would be great to see him first win the HB award then move on and make a name for himself in the pros and we should be proud that he is from Grand Forks. Most of us know that he is a great kid and I only wish the best. GOOD LUCK RYAN
YEAH... It would be great to see a North Dakota guy take the HB!

I love this thread. Being a church pianist, I think I just might have to wear mine after we win tonight.

Parking
There will be a limited number of on-site general admission parking spots available for $5.00 per day / per vehicle on a first-come, first-serve basis. The Kelly lots will be reserved for the holders of Kelly lot hanging tags only. Free parking and free shuttles will be running one hour and fifteen minutes prior to the start of each game from lot 10 (Memorial Stadium lot) on the UND campus each day of the tournament.

Rumor has it that KFAN is at the Long Haul on Friday again for the PA and Dubay show.
If true worth the trip, the breakfast is good there.
I have a kid that works at the Long Haul. It is usually packed there before and after games. They have good food, pool tables, blackjack, a '56 Mack truck, and its not too far from The Ralph.

you act as if it was done on PURPOSE by the Gophers...my Parise...as if the U had ANY hand in it...

Where are you reading that I said that "Minnesota State" had anything to do with designing the poster?
-
Boy it sure doesn't take much to offend you. Maybe you should lock yourself in your house, close all your windows, turn off your TV and radio, and just sit there, cause things like this are all around you.
I just had to listen to a guy give us $hit about our Ford truck all the way to St Paul and back last weekend.
And yeah, I was offended. My kids and I have spent thousands of dollars at UND the past few years, not NDSU.

I have to agree with the skippy's on this one, it is quite petty. Almost as petty as complaining about a free poster.
The free poster was not the point of it, it is probably something I would just give to a hockey loving kid anyway. It was that they had the wrong school on the poster. Its like calling your Ford a Chevy, your Dell an Apple, calling Coke Pepsi, calling your dog a cat, or your Red Baron pizza a Tombstone. Its the principle.

Are you really comparing winning the final five to a national championship? I think there are many on this board that would have a problem with that.
Last year. 2 ALL WCHA Tournaments.

Not that they put NCAA in the middle but the sides have the flame UND logo. This just pisses me off. Good luck trying to remove the 10,000 other logos.
The NCAA didn't force them to do it. They just had a regulation on the size the logo could be, and they decided the Sioux logo wouldn't look as nice in a small size as the UND with the flame on it would. They were thinking about how it would look televised and about good advertising. I love the Sioux logo, but I like it BIG.

Here is the story from the paper...
NCAA rules regarding alcohol sales during games also will be different than for regular-season Sioux games.Semrau said alcoholic beverages will be served only in the suites and the club lounges. No alcohol will be sold in the concourse, and the standing bar will be closed during the games, so those in attendance will need to have a ticket for a suite or clubhouse to purchase alcohol.

Have you noticed that the sound is better if you are sitting up a little bit higher? I noticed that when I sat down low at the World Juniors, it echoed or something. I usually sit 1 row up from the tunnels and the sound is great there.

How about the Malpractice Cup?

Are you playing? My daughter played on the UND Law School team.

John,
The WCHA is aware of the mistake that was made on the free poster that was
given to the first 5,000 fans at the Final Five last Saturday. We are sorry
for the error.
We wanted you to know, however, that our title sponsor - Red Baron - had
nothing to do with the printing of the poster.
We appreciate your continued support and hope you enjoyed what was the most
successful WCHA Final Five ever.
Regards,
Doug Spencer

They did the same thing at the World Arena in Colorado Springs two years ago
They even poured our pop into plastic cups per NCAA rules according to the concession stand people.

We emailed Red Baron / Schwans

I was very impressed to get the free poster as we entered the WCHA tourney on Saturday in St. Paul. As soon as I got a look at it and saw the major screw-up listing the UND Sioux as North Dakota State University I realized how messed up your company must be. I plan to put a copy of the poster in my freezer. There will be room as there will be no more Red Barron or Schwan pizza in there.
The truck does not need to stop at my house anymore.
Carol & Doug,Will you please respond to this gentleman's email to us and convey to him that Red Baron (&/or the Schwan Food Company) were not responsible in anyway, for the production or the distribution of the poster that was handed out to the fans on Saturday March 18 at the 2:35pm game.
As I would hate to lose a valued customer over something that we were not responsible for.
Will you also copy me in on the response, so that I be sure that this is handled appropriately.
Thank you.

Just to let you know that Red Baron had nothing to do with the posters that
were distributed at the Final Five.
We apologize for the error and are checking on what could maybe be done to
correct.
Doug.

This doesn't have much to do with where the Gophers will go for regionals, but this has to be the blooper of the weekend.. even worse than the WCHA poster (which we all need to write to Red Baron about.)...
From the Pioneer Press and USCHO..
The motivation for St. Cloud may have come just after the first semifinal of the afternoon concluded."North Dakota will take on Minnesota in the WCHA championship game tomorrow night at 7:37 p.m.," boomed the public address announcer following the Fighting Sioux's victory over Wisconsin, more than an hour and a half prior to the puck drop of the nightcap.
Talk about jumping the gun.
"We were in the lobby of the hotel, and some of us were watching the North Dakota game," said Hooton. "We'd heard rumors that they'd announced Minnesota already. We just sorta decided that we'd come out and show that we deserve to be in these games."
-
I live out east and believe me, the Fighting Sioux program gets a lot of respect out here in CCHA country, they are considered the Gold Standard (and I mean "Gold" in a good way) and I'm proud to see this team living up to those expectations.
That made me feel good all over.

I met Runninwiththedogs and UMDDogs, nice people. I went to the meeting place and no one was there yesterday and today. Oh well, I'll try again tomorrow.
My husband and his cousin, from Ankorage, are out there between every period standing close to "Wally the Beerman" in their Sioux garb. Sometimes they forget to come back in for the game (when the Sioux aren't on the ice.)
-
Just stopping at the room and off again. Now that was fun!!!! Wisconsin pouts.
And what is with this Michigan Tech ?? band?
-
Yes. That is true. And your point....
I just went and packed all my pink underwear for this weekend. We leave at 7 AM for St Paul.
-
I heard that a lot of Sioux players and fans wear "prairie rose" pink underwear to the games for good luck!

They have to give you time off work for "religous" reasons. You don't have to disclose what exactly you are practicing.

I just read the blog from the Denver Fan about the posters.. hehe
Yeah, dat der blog thingamajigger vas rite on duh mark. I forgot my pizza was going to thaw out soon, so I am eating all 12 of the cheapest Red Baron pizzas I could find that I had shoved out in the snowbank behind my trailer. You are so lucky to have a double wide! Mine is just a 12' single wide with an outhouse out the back. At least, since the horse died, you would have some food for the dogs. I better get back to the kitchen and throw some more coal on the stove and make sure my husband has his cleanest wife-beater on since its Sunday and that he doesn't drink all the beer so we can have one of them there good beer butt chickens for dinner.
WOOHOO GO SIOUX!!!
