  1. I don't get it.

I believe SiouxRules is referring to the length of the Gopher cheerleader skirts... Being at the Western Regional, I happened to like the fact that they were shorter. I also noticed that the Gopher cheerleaders did not wear nylons with their outfits, either. Gotta nice view when they raised their pom-poms!!!

    Man, I'm an old perv!!!

  2. You mean you can't even share by replacing key letters with symbols so we can get the intent?

Hopefully, HockeyMom won't get mad at me for revealing this, but basically, let's just say that the cheerleaders' promiscuity and moral character were brought into question.

  3. As we had no confrontations at southgate, and wore our garb on Sat, you probably did talk to us, we were the 3 guys sitting in the corner licking our wounds. Thanks for being good sports, although we were quite sheepish about flashing Goldy colors after friday, again like I said most sioux fans were as shocked by friday's outcome as us. If you were one of the guys we hung out with, I hope you guys get to enjoy a NT in MIllyWaukee.

Thanks, gopher dude! I hope so too!

  4. I am among the 5 who will not be wearing sioux attire because I/we suck. At least this year. I was in GF for the regional, and would like to say as a gopher fan, about 99% of the sioux fans that we spoke to/drank with, were totally cool and we had a great time anyway. Although it was the most dissapointing defeat of any sporting event I have witnessed. IE 4 super bowl losses, (this was harder to take) I want to reiterate what I said when we were still in GF : I hope the Sioux win the NT. the Sioux fans have twice as much class as any UW fans, and although I know ND fans hate the Gophs with a passion, at least they can respect the fact that I love my team, and would be willing to go to the Ralph on Sat pm just to watch a good hockey game. We hung out at Southgate all weekend and met many true ND fans, who were willing to talk about COLLEGE HOCKEY which is why we all love our teams anyway. If the Gophers cannot win the NT this year, I vote for the Sioux. Thank you GF for a very fun weekend, and a truly spectacular building to watch my favorite sport. I am not a troll, nor do I expect any flowery responses from the Sioux. I am just telling like I saw it. GO SIOUX.

I probably talked to you at SouthGate. You get what you give. There were three or four guys in MN garb (at least the ones that chose to wear them again Sat.) who were decent people. The ones who act like a$$es get a$$ right back. The ones who cheer and watch with respect get respect. If you were one of those guys, you guys showed class. Thanks for coming to GF!

  5. I thought I read somewhere on this forum that Lucia said that they didn't get to review tapes because they game late or something similar and that's one of the reasons they lost to HC

To be bluntly honest, and repetitive, MN lost because the players didn't show up, and the Holy Cross players did. MN looked uninspired. I watched the clip of the OT goal, and whatever RP was doing when he got the puck stolen, it wasn't typical of the kind of play you would expect from him.

  6. Actually, as a Sioux fan, I'm a little embarrassed with all this Kessel, Potulny, Irmen, Lucia...and general Gopher bashing. Yes, I am as guilty as anyone, as I've done it myself, but after a while, I realize that it's all just opinion. For God's sake, Charmin is softer than Quilted Northern, just ask my hemis...

It really doesn't matter. Let them all think that Kessel is better than Oshie, or vice versa. Let's just enjoy the kids playing a good game of hockey. It's a darn shame that Oshie didn't get the ROTY. It's also a shame that Toews didn't get it either. With all the hype about Kessel and Oshie, I think Toews deserves to be mentioned with those two as well. But again, let's just believe that they are all out there on the ice doing what they can to help their teams win games...

  7. Yeah, but maybe the guy upstairs will punish you . . . and send you back as 1) if he's ticked, a Gopher hockey player  or 2) extremely ticked, a Gopher hockey fan

    Or worse...a gopher puck bunny...

  8. PCM: Thank you.........Thank you for boring me out of my mind the last 30 seconds reading this thread you created and I accidentally clicked on.........Coach of the Year?.....come on..........humor me, anger me, or inform me.......but please don't bore me

It was boring, but you felt the need to post to it anyway??

  9. I can't speak a lot for the others, but...

Hakstol - took a very young team back to the FF...one win away from a 30 win season...more than last year's team. Seems to have that character of bringing a team together at the right time.

Motzko - did very well building up a team that almost made it into the NCAA tournament. Almost winning three games in the Final Five...that's an accomplishment for a team and a coach in and of itself.

Lucia - had a very strong year with a lot of talented players, but you have to question losing the last three games of the season at tournament time. In all reality, the game is in the players' hands, but I think those three loses are as much a reflection on his coaching as it is on the team's play.

  10. Sorry, Rick, I have to show you the true stats here.

Don Lucia's Minnesota Record: 189-86-26, 7 seasons at MN, 1 regular season title, 2 conference tournament titles, 2 NCAA titles.

Dean Blais' North Dakota Record: 244-115-33, 10 seasons at UND, 5 regular season titles, 2 conference tournament titles, 3 NCAA championship game appearances, 2 NCAA titles.

Bottom line: 5 regular season titles to 1. 2 conference tournament titles to 2. 2 NCAA titles to 2.

Who's the better coach? I think both of them are excellent coaches and their records speak for themselves.

All that being said, of course I'd rather have Dean Blais behind my bench than Lucia.

Jeez, MM, what in the name of biscuits has gotten into you? :D

I do feel bad for the gophers, but not all that much. A woman on the bus to the game was ranting about the gopher fans, and had some very good points. But as it's also been said on this board, each team has those fans. One thing she did say though was that consistently throughout the WCHA if you ask any team which fans they hate the worst, they will say gopher fans. Too funny.

Anyway, tough loss. Can't say that I wasn't cheering for the Crusaders and giving gopher friends a lot of grief, but with each October brings a new season, a new set of players, and the same old rivalry. It'll be fun to see how the Frozen Four plays out, but best of luck to everyone next season.

  11. Not a dig against anyone, but doesn't it help to have your team in the Frozen Four?

I'm just thinking of Carle, Sterling, Sertich, and of course, Potulny. Of the 5 WCHA players nominated, Elliott is the only one still playing.

Of course, there is also Moore from Maine.

What do you folks think the odds are that it will be one of those two (Elliott or Moore)??

When was the last time a player won it outside of being in the Frozen Four? I know it's not that far off, but I'm not a stat monger, either! ;)

  12. I guess I should have been a little more clear. My intention was to have this thread focus on the cool things related to our team or games they were in, and not digress into opponents or games we were not involved in. ;)

How's that song go? "I'm just a soul whose intentions are good. Lord help me please not to be misunderstood."

or something like that. Anyway, sorry, Dagies.
