True. But you need to do your history on this before you type away, there have been numerous incidences on campus where we weren't only called "sioux", comments like "prairie nigger", squaw, etc, so eventually words like "nazi" and "jap" would surface. So there really ISN'T a difference.

My kids were asking what they were talking about on the news, but I told them that we'll talk about it when they are older because I think that part of your culture shouldn't be taught to them yet.

Another reason that Native Americans seem always to come to the assistance of this country in times of need goes back to time honored traits held in esteem by all Native American societies. These are Strength, Honor, Pride in the people, Devotion, Wisdom, and Spiritual Strength. These are the traits which made them feared opponents in the battle against "Manifest Destiny", and it is what makes them courageous warriors today. Go ahead and pick apart my words. The bottom line (which you choose to ignore) is the fact that the SIOUX Nation that you attempt to honor does not want you to use any reference to the SIOUX. How hard is that to understand? If we're all on the same boat, why don't we have a team named the Fighting Germans, Fighting Nazis, Fighting Japs, etc, etc? Because if we did, those people would get pretty pissed, too. Wow, you've done alot in 18 year, from the looks of it, you were in the Navy, Air Force, Army, damn, aren't you the all encompassing warrior. I've done my time too, but Uncle Sam couldn't sucker me to stay in, I have too many other things to accomplish in life. Why does everyone insist that the name FIGHTING SIOUX is so important to them? YOU are not Sioux. Get that? The SIOUX NATION does not want you to use our name. How simple is that? Did I say I was a pure blood? I never did, I can tell you I have more SIOUX blood than most of you in here. Maybe that's why your so offended by me, because I can prove where I came from. Not only that, but I also practice my Lakota beliefs. I wonder how many of you "Scandinavians" practice your language, religion, way of life......(aside from letfse....) Yes, Vikings were of Scandanavian descent, but not ALL Scandanavians were Vikings. Now, if you look at the word "fighting sioux", that is all encompassing. Do you think that back in the day the cavalry said "no, leave the women and children alone because they are not the fighters..." HELL NO. They just killed everyone, women, children, old, young, if you were Sioux, you were a target. As for the "Sioux Warrior". He/she still exists, if you don't believe me, look in the military, look on the front lines of the fire crews battling wildland fires, look at those Akicita who stand up for the people every day. The Sioux Warrior is here. But I guess you can't compare vikings and Sioux, because unlike those of you who "claim" to be a Viking, I bet you don't know your language, nor have you spent "any" time doing what a viking does. As a Sioux warrior, I have defended my people and still do today. I have provided for the poor and unjust, like a Sioux warrior does. And I also practice my Lakota beliefs, like a Sioux warrior does.
