Liked them in the CHA.  Then after the switch, they instantly shed the little brother status with a lot of the fan base.  Now they are every bit as good or even better.  I get random comments all the time while wearing Sioux gear. This series is almost bigger than the Gophers, in terms of me having to hear about it, if it's not a sweep.

I live in Bemidji and agree. Obviously, Bemidji is BSU first, and then many BSU fans cheer for either the Sioux or Gophers (or neither). I think most BSU fans respect that UND continues to play BSU every year - but BSU fans like the David vs Goliath achievement of beating UND. I think many BSU fans have been brainwashed by the UMtc aura.

  2. I hope you guys are just playing with gfhockey on this stuff? To read him taking credit for their (Sioux) wins because he started a thread, makes me throw up a little! If Marriuci started the "GDT" these last two days we would all still be celebrating Sioux victories!

A person that comes on here slamming Hak, saying "Blais is a winner and Hak is not" absolutely making zero hockey sense criticizing this team after every little hiccup! Now he wants credit for them winning?

    I say go away troll!

    Fighting Sioux....Hang8

Please don't take the bait BSV . . . that being said . . . I'm more than fine with him starting the gdt come next Thursday.  #skate48

  3. I'm betting the daily double!  UND wins 3-1 and Murph gets off the snide in the same game.  GO SIOUX!

You're feeling a little optimistic with UND having 3 goals (in one game) aren't you?  2-1 Sioux in OT.  Nail biter finish with a patented missed empty net opportunity and Quinny capitalizes and forces the extra frame.  Thompson from the point with the OT winner.  Put it on the board!

  4. BSU's two shots at the NCAAs:

    - win WCHA tournament

    - my scenario (above)

If BSU has a clue they'll play this weekend like it is their last.

"Do you believe in miracles . . ."

BSU just got swept by LSSU.  I'm a BSU optimist, but unless UMD's bus breaks down on the way to the X, I don't see it happening.  Bitzer has been good in net, but BSU struggles to score goals (except for opening nights in October) and I don't think they can keep up with UMD's top lines. Plan B.

  5. As for other northern kids to keep an eye on I haven't seen a lot of games this year but I have heard that Bemidji and Grand Rapids both have some pretty talented players coming through a few specifically mentioned to me were Brady Tatro SO. Bemidji, Alex Adams JR., Jonah Bischoff JR., and John Stampohar SO. all from Grand Rapids.

Tatro/Bemidji will be in EGF tonight at 7pm.  Should be a great game.   J Leitner (Sr), Pollack (F) and goalie Theraldson are fun to watch, too.

  6. From Fargoforce.com:

The Fargo Force have acquired a tender and the first pick of the third round in Phase 1 of the 2014 USHL Draft via a trade with the new expansion team in the league, the Bloomington Thunder. In exchange, the Force has traded defenseman Butrus Ghafari along with affiliate players, forward Ethan Spaxman and defenseman Jacob Slaker.

With the tender pickup from Bloomington, the Force has tendered forward Zach Yon from Roseau High School. Yon just completed his senior season where he led the team in scoring, posting 69 points in 25 games played with 33 goals and 36 assists. The 69 points put him 8th overall in scoring in the state of Minnesota. He also served as the Co-Captain his senior season and was named one of the top ten finalists for the 2014 Minnesota Minute Men Mr. Hockey Award. Zach is committed to the University of North Dakota.

Any player who is tendered will be on their respective teams’ roster next season and play at least 55% of their teams’ regular season games.

The 2014 USHL Draft begins May 5 at 5 PM. The Force hold the first pick in each round. Fans can watch the draft picks live on USHL.com or by following the Force on Twitter. A draft recap will be available on the official Fargo Force website, Facebook and Twitter following the completion of all rounds.

What does "signing a tender" mean? Are these kids that weren't drafted and then were signed a year later? Or what's the difference/process? Thanks.

  7. I have seen Warrant back in the day...wasn't impressed.

What?!?!?!? Saw them at an outdoor concert in Fargo with, Trixter, I think? We played Nerf football with the band and some roadies out in the parking lot before their concert. #goodoleboysclub-hairbandversion

  8. I was lucky enough to really start watching during the Hrkac's Circus. Grew up in Grafton and parents would take turns carpooling us kids to the old Ralph on Saturday nights in the station wagons or the Econoline vans. Got to watch the likes of Eades, Hak, Joyce, Greg Johnson. Good times.

Moved to Minneapolis during the '90's which even further fueled Gopher hatred and Sioux fandom.

Now, I live in Bemidji. We still get to the Ralph for 3 or 4 games a year, road trip to watch the Sioux at UMD or SCSU, and of course watch the Sioux here in Bemidji and on Midco SN.
