  1. This would be an early Christmas gift for all if this stays true. What they need to do is get everything done including the contract agreement by Oct. 1st. If something can be signed and legalized in Sept or even late this month the school board and Kelly would have to do what the tribe wants even though it sounds like they want this issue to go away.

I think the school board & Kelly would look pretty bad if both tribes had convincing victories for keeping the name. Isn't this exactly what the NCAA is asking for...the minority of the voters would have to accept this, wouldn't they? We are still in the United States of America, aren't we?

  2. I don't give a s*%t what some document from 300 years ago says. If it no longer makes sense, amend it.

It was actually 233 years ago. Obama doesn't really give a sh*t about our Constitution either.

  3. They barely register against Fox.

We all know that the media is 90% to the left, I don't think FOX wants that to change anytime soon...FOX rating numbers are through the roof right now. I can't believe other media outlets don't change their ways.

  4. It sounds like the Force are battling the flu. It is tough to play when half the team is sick or recovering from being sick.

8 players have the flu...Andy Taranto(leading scorer) was the only one that couldn't play. Blaiser didn't use the sickness as an excuse. I've seen about 30 Force games this season, last night was as bad as I've seen them play. On a positive note, Cichy is ready for D1 hockey, it'll be good to see him in a Sioux uniform.

  5. Fargo Force go up 1-0 for the Clark Cup Championship. They won in Indy last night 2-1 with a goal with 38 seconds remaining...7-0 in the playoffs...unreal.

  6. I thought this was such a good piece that it deserved it's own topic.

    VIEWPOINT: Nickname speaks to warriorship

That is a great article by Mr. Harvey Uken and a another great piece by Douglas L. in the comment section. I have been a fan of Fighting Sioux sports since the 1970's, I've had nothing but the utmost respect for the Sioux name and always will. I have taught our 3 kids to honor the name and make sure they respect the name...our daughter is a senior in high school, she will be attending the University of North Dakota this fall wearing her Sioux apparell with pride.

  7. And another thing, Skippy, regarding this issue I'd much rather listen to Sioux hockey fans than 'SU fans. There seem to be an awful lot of 'SU fans here today offering advice. I find it hard to believe that they really have the best interests of UND at heart. I think it more likely that they are shitting themselves at the prospect that the Fighting Sioux moniker may yet live on. On second thought, let me correct myself - there isn't any issue on which I'd rather hear the opinion of 'SU fans over Sioux hockey fans.

Damn straight, DamStraight Yes there are Bison fans that are Sioux hockey fans, but I think we all know that a big majority of Bison fans would love the Sioux name to just go away. Would MplsBison or any other Bison fans fight for the Bison name if a minority of people wanted to take that away?

  8. Nick Mattson is going to be a very good player for the Sioux...hard to believe he's only a junior in high school. I think Cam Fowler has been our(USA) best defensemen so far, with Nick a close second.

The USA-Canada game last night was great. If you plan on going to the Gold Medal Game(USA-USSR) tomorrow night, I would suggest getting your tickets right away. I just came from the UP Center, it will be sold out.

  9. I've always thought coaching was a big part of any sport, but what Blaiser along with Jason Herter & Chad Johnson have done with the Fargo Force team is amazing. The Force were simply not very good at the start of the season, after sweeping Omaha they are in a great postition to go deep in the playoffs. Dean's reaction after the OT goal on Sunday night was great, he was jumping all over the bench. We all know Dean could coach just about anywhere at any level, to see him enjoying an OT win in the 1st round of the USHL playoffs was pretty cool.

  10. Seriously, I hope this is an indication that the NWS headquarters is backing off and letting the local and regional branches do their jobs.

I totally agree...I'll take Denny's 30 years of experience & the great leadership we have here in Fargo over the NWS. That being said, I'm very happy with the NWS reading of 38-40ft...hopefully no more sandbagging later this week.

  11. I just hope the crest is not going to be 43 or 44 feet. Holy Cow!

That would be devasting. I'm no expert, but I agree with Walaker that it'll be between 37-38, 40 tops. So if we were in Vegas I'D say 38.5

  12. I live in a south Fargo home in the Meadow Creek develop...what went on this past week is nothing short of unbelieveable. We are still not in the clear by no means. Both Fargo & Moorhead are built to 43 ft...hopefully everything holds.

It's going to be great to watch some Sioux hockey this afternoon...GO SIOUX

  13. The Bison attendance will obviously go up next year with their success this year. I think the Force attendance will also increase next year with their success and improvements to the UP Center(Mainly the parking lot). This crazy economy may have a bearing on that though.

  14. Dean Blais was on the radio today saying that he has never coached a team that has progressed as well as his Fargo Force team has this year. He said that included his time as head coach and assistant coach at UND...that's kind of saying a lot. The Force won all 3 games this weekend, including an 8-0 win over Des Moines yesterday. Des Moines has 4 Sioux recruits, 2 Gopher recruits and a number of other top end talent. The Force are slowing becoming a Force.
