  1. Well if thats the case, put Walski in if Lammy gives up one more goal. If Lammy would have came in last year, we might have won that game.

Really can't blame Lammy, as the defense has been very poor! Where the heck are the big Sioux checks??

  2. The seedings for this tournament is the biggest load of crap! And why only 3 WCHA teams??

Ever since a few years ago, when it was a WCHA all final FOUR of the tournament, the seedings have routinely placed

our conference teams against each other early on. And to add another point, the NCAA has seeded teams so that no WCHA team could face each other in the final!

    It's just a buch of ##($)@@!.!!

So, if we have to go throught the goofers, to get to the final four...so be it! But we'll have to have our better A game to do that, as Michigan in no pushover, (how the hell are they ranked higher??) and a better team effort against Minnesota.

  3. At the beginning of the season, I was betting on MN to win the WCHA as they were definatley the fastest and just looked phenominal early on. But even though they did win the conference....they have have not looked the same in the second half of the season. Not sure the reason why, but they better be careful as they might be hosting the Final 5 of the WCHA from the stands.

    WAY TO GO SIOUX!!

  4. I'm not privy to what goes on behind the scenes, but I'll bet the coaches have lit these guys up a few times during the course of the last few weeks. Hell, maybe Buning and Hakstol have had a sit down, I don't know.

DUDE...it starts at the top. Since Hakstol has been coach, we've been out recruited and outplayed. Blaise was the guy who in reality, brought on Oshie, Lee and Toews.....as he started to recruit these guys hard when they are just getting out of pee wee hockey. Oshie was going to be a Sioux, b/c he commited to Blaise 2 years before signing.

Just look at all the guys who have come for only 2 years and leave since Hakstol has been coach. The teams from the last 3 years are certainly undisciplined, and the word from the locker room as that they have no respect for Hakstol as he is a "players" coach.

Yes...we went to the finals 2 of the last 3 years, but on talent that had nothing to do with coaching. It's becoming pretty obvious that Hakstol is just not the man everyone thought he was going to be. Not to throw salt on the wound here, but look at Minnesota. They are a powerhouse year in and year out. MN gets top pick players, and KEEPS THEM THERE!!

Dont be blind guys! Motivation needs to start at the top and if Hakstol cant get a group of hightly tatlented players to come together, then changes need to be made at the end of this awful year, or we can look at holding the bottom of the WCHA for quite some time.

  5. Take Toews and Oshie from this team (which might happen if they decide to move up) and what do we have to build on? The lack of development of current players who have been highly rated (Lee for example) leaves me to worry no matter who's comming in. No one seems to be getting better. In addition, there are several disturbing trends this year - One is our lack of physical play on Defense. We went from a team who had the most feared defensemen in the league to a team that gets outhit in our own arena. In addition, the undisciplined play (stupid penalties), inconsistant play (taking entire periods off), horribe penalty kill, and poor goaltending make me worry that unless we get our acts together we are in for a long period of frustration. Counting on next year's freshmen to pull us up (especially at this point of this year) makes me uneasy. Our mental approach as a team may be my biggest concern - why can't they turn it on for 3 periods?

  6. Simply a demise of the hockey sioux program. We have had the talent over the past 3 years to get us through, but it's becoming painfully obvious that Hakstol is just not the coach that can lead this team.

Someone will eventually take a look at the leadership at the top, and make the change, and unitl then we can look forward to a few more years of holding the basement of the WCHA.

  7. this team just plainly sucks right now!

I think Hakstol has to come up with some answers....having so much talent, and year in and year out you seem to lose all the good talent that does come to the sioux.

Just frustrated right now of the sioux hockey play as of this year.

  8. I don't know. RIght now, if Phil's healthy, he plays.

I have a question to all your armchair coaches on this website: In a coaching context, say you have Grieco on your team. You are very high on him and he's had his worst weekend of his life on the ice. How would you help him regain his confidence? Is there something the coaches can do during the week of practice that would help? I'm not sure Grieco's confidence is shot, but if I were in his place, I wouldn't exactly be feeling too good about myself right now.

In fact, I am worried about the entire team's confidence. Saturday's game was a ton of not getting the bounces we needed. 3 posts, at least 3 other very close calls. A few inches over and we could have won that game 8-4! But, alas, it didn't happen. That HAS to affect a team's morale.

If Grieco is the best goalie we have up and coming, we are in alot of trouble. That game in alaska was just awful! Granted, it was only one weekend of hockey, but it was very very bad.

I hope we are heavily recruiting, because this team is done if we can't get a goalie to perform.
