  1. Just do a google search for hotels close to the University.

Trying to be in the Christmas spirit I want to wish all of the Sioux fans a very Merry Christmas and a safe and Happy New Years. Win all of you NC games. The WCHA needs the power ranking.

  2. I hate to miss this series (Gopher season ticket holder) but I will be on the beach in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

This was the only time I could make the trip. I will have to wait until th WCHA FF to see your team live. You have to love the way Oshie plays the game.

  3. Nothing wrong with the hometown boy (home state boy) wanting to stick it to his home state. How many Minnesota kids that play for other div. 1 team get jacked up to play the Gophers. I started watching Gopher hockey in 1971 and the list of Minnesota players that did not play for the gophers is long and distinguished. Minnesota kids want to do well against the Gophers. PK wants to do well against Becky and the ND kids that play for the Gophers want to do well against UND.

  4. I don't have a hatred for the Badgers like I do the Goofs. For me, it comes down to the fans of each of those teams. Although I've only met a tiny percentages of all their fans, I can honestly say that I like the Wisconson fans I've met. I've met a number of them dating back to the good ol' days at the Westward Ho after a hard fought game, and even in Milwaukee for the '97 Championship. They were just great people. I remember the Badger fans that came out in support of the Sioux in '97...it was awesome!!

On the other hand, the arrogance of Goof fans rubs me the wrong way. What probably put the icing on the cake, was when the Sioux played Ferris State at the X, and all the Goofie fans were cheering against the Sioux. :silly:

The game was not at the X, it was at Mariucci. ALL the fans were not cheering for Ferris State, because I was there with my Gopher Jersey on pulling for the Sioux. Other than that your statement is close to accurate.

  5. The season is underway. You would think UND fans could find something to talk about other than the Gophers. Oh by the way and this is not confirmed yet. There is a rumor on www.collegehockeyeast.blogspot.com that Sam Gagner has committed to Minnesota.

  6. I really hope that minnesota, wisconsin, and tech don't make the frozen four.  Oh wait, no worries...  ;)

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

The one you have to worry about is becky. You know Tech won't be there and you know the Gophers will be. Because becky is the host school there fans have alot of tickets for the FF. If becky (WHEN) losses, there will be plenty of tickets to go around. Now my only question to you is why to you want to drive to Milwaukee to watch the Gophers play Denver?

  7. Mafia Man,

If your saying that the sports writers were looking to lynch the Don I would agree with you. The sports writers in this town have it in for the Gophers and don't cut them any slack. If your talking about the Gopher fans than I would say your wrong. I picked them to be top 5 in the WCHA and to make the FF only because they had the regional at home. With the youg D we had and loosing 3 underclassmen to the NHL (Well the other league anyway) you have to say it was a good season. Not great, because we didn't win it all.

  8. Unrelated, but of interest - how many times in the past have Sioux fans heard Gopher fans chirp about UND's cupcake schedule?

What goes around, comes around I guess!  Check out MN's home non-conference schedule:

Alaska-Fairbanks, Union College, Massachusetts-Lowell, Canisius and Niagara.

Take away UML and what are you left with?

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Not looking forward to that non-conference schedule, but we still get Michigan and Michigan State. Guess no one wants to schedule the Gophers next year.

  9. Personally, I'd rather see Oshie play 2 years in the USHL.  Think how good he'd be then!

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I don't know if your serious on that or not, but the problem then is the kid will leave early for another level. Oshie dream is to get to the NHL or whatever league there is. He won't stay in school any longer than he has to. I think your better to get him early where you will get a minimum of 2-3 years and probaly 4 years.

  10. Always a good policy to approach these situations with caution, never know when some "newbie" may show up on a message board and try to jerk your chain.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

No one would do that around here :D

  11. So if you can blast people on the Gopher board when they "belittle" the Gopher program, then why can you not handle getting blasted when you "belittle" the Sioux (that is the correct spelling) on the Sioux board.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I guess I fail to see how I did not handle the comeback on the Sioux board. A UND poster took exception to what I stated on GPL and thats fine. I would not expect a Sioux poster to agree with my opinion about who has the best hockey tradition. I also do not go on the Sioux board to pick an argument and make that statement on your board as the Sioux poster did on GPL.

  12. Hey clown, go back to your hole. Previously, I haven't minded your posts, but after reading the following at GPL, I had a change of heart:

For what it is worth, Sioux is spelled Sioux, not Sue, and this place is not a hole, until or unless visited by crackers like you.

Don't come over here and ingratiate yourself by being all lovey-dovey, when, obviously, you full of crap.

btw, I am not sure Gopher fans ever expected anyone to skate circles around Harrington! :D;)

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

When I come on your board I show some respect because it is your board. If you read my posts on USCHO I am mostly neutral toward the Sioux program. When someone come on the Gopher board and makes a statement that I feel belittles the Gopher program, then I blast him, but only on the Gopher board. I enjoy reading the Sioux board because you have alot of great posters with good college hockey information. Sorry if what I said on the GPL board offended you, but you have to remember what board you were on when you read it.

  13. It was front page of Sports not "front page". And yes it does deserve front page of sports. This is a local boy that everyone has been waiting to see where he would go. We were all praying it wasn't the Gophers. And since there was no press conference called I knew he must have picked the Sioux.

Welcome aboard Marto. I can't wait for you to skate circles around Hagemo and Goligoski.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Not to rip on Marto, but how long will you have to wait for that to happen. By the time the kid comes into the league, Hag's and Goli will be Juniors. I don't think a freeshman D man is going to be skating circles around either one of these two.

  14. I have no info on this I am just asking this question and throwing it out to the Sioux faithfull. IF some of your underclassmen go NHL next year (Greene, Smaby, Stafford, etc.) what is plan B. Are there a couple more recruits waiting in the wings or do you bring in Oshie and VanDevelde next year? Who else are you looking at for D?

  15. Okay, you got me on that one. When you get old the memory is one of the first thinns to go  93-93 season we played in Munn arena on Michigan States campus, 94-95 we played at the Dane when Wisconsin called that home ice, 95-95 back to the MUnn arena and 01-02 we played CC at Yost. Throw in a couple of Van Andel apperances over the years and I would say it was time for the Gophers to get a few game at Maruicci in a regional.

  16. Funny, but I had heard that 10,000 Gopher fans showed up at Mariucci expecting to see the UND/UM game in person.  I guess they figured that since Minnesota qualified for the Frozen Four, the tournament would be moved from Columbus to accomodate the local fans.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Will you be saying the same thing next year when UND hosts at the Ralph. It goes in cycles and every team had the same opportunity to bid on the regionals. Late 90's we got had in the Yost more than once. The last few years we have been lucky enough to host the regions three time. Once we were not in it, but the other time certainly helped us get to the FF. You will have the chance to win a region on your home ice next year, left see what you do with that advantage. ;)
