  1. Why shake hands tonight when you play again tomorrow night?

Big 10 figured there wouldn"t be any fighting in the handshake line so they deceided to do it after every game. Sorry guys, I couldnt resist. If your team continues it's late season surge, like you normally do. Anyone looking forward to a Excel region of Mn, North Dakota and Jany Brady State with one East team thrown in.
  2. In the WCHA that game would've been on a Friday night, not a Thursday night. That alone is worth about 2k more attendance is my guess. And that's on the Big Ten (Network).

At least you were able to watch the game and see the empty seats. I have no idea how North Dakota is drawing this year, because they are seldom on tv. Big and Big Ten Network are doing just fine.

  3. Relax DLW4GOPHERS. We are barely into the off-season, a time when everyone blows smoke about anything, whether or not it is true. My experience is mostly watching the Gophers versus the Sioux, or watching the Gophers when the Sioux do not have a game. You have to admit, during that stunning loss to the Sioux in the Final Five last year there could have been serious injuries in the third period as the Gopher fans rushed the door trying to get out.

This is too easy. The same can be said about the Sioux fans a week later during the regional game. When Condon scored his goal I thought I was going to get trampled in the stamped. I am not sure how the internet banter will go between our two fan bases over the next few years. Will it die down some because we are not playing each other or will it get more intense?

  4. It wasn't meant as a troll. I know if the Men's pairwise had someone two spots out of the NCAA tourney they would not get in. Guess I just don't understand the Women's pairwise. I felt the top three team deserved to be in the tourney as all three would do very well in the NCAA's.

  5. Anyone think seeing parise in a green and white #11 jersey will trigger some PTSD from gopher fans?

Not so much. The 2001-02 and 2002-03 seasons went ok for the Gophers. I would imagine you would get the same feeling everytime you see Grant behind the Gopher bench. Recruiing is a battle just like a hockey game. You are not going to win them all. When one recruiting battle is over you go on to the next one. Over the years Minnesota has expanded their recruing areas. Condon from Wisc., Warning from Mo. and next season Guertler from Florida. Gopher will always get the bulk of thre players grom the home state, but you have to go out add a few pieces from other areas. Last year we got the Gertlers, Cammaratas and Kloos. This year you got Gersich & Poganski. Next.

  6. The gophers have quite a long stretch of games at home. UAH and BC for the Mooch classic, Notre Dame for a game and then UAA for the weekend series and next up is UND. Must be tough to never leave your back yard. They will have to go on the road sooner or later.

5 of our first 6 in the WCHA were all on the road. Yes most of our OOC games are at home. Many schools will come here to play Mn. for the exposure for recruiting. Last time I checked everyone get the same amount of conference home games.
  7. Mariucci Arena - Minneapolis, MN ... November 4 & 5

I just got my season tickets in the mail today. Noticed they upped the price of Gopher tickets for the UND series and the BADger season to $45 a ticket. So all of you fans that will be coming down. Bring your wallets.

  8. I don't know, tDon has a contract worth 250,000.00 just laying around so I don't think the "U" can just afford to fire another head coach.

I have to agree with Goon on this. Macturi will not pull the pin on the contract. By the time they replace the AD it will be too late to do anything about the 2011-12 season. We are stuck with him at least one more year. Hopefully Don will wake up and realize he needs some new assistants if this thing is ever going to get back on track. I doubt he will fire Hill, but he should. Go WCHA in the tourney. Not going to go so far as say good luck to the Sioux, the rivalry won't let me do that. :silly:

  9. Are the gophers ever going to play in a Final Five again before they start repeatedly missing the Big Ten tournament?

I think their problems are completely due to coaching - especially at the assistant level. Their guys just aren't getting coached up.

Nice to see all the kind words on here about Lucia. He has two rings that your coach hak doesn't have, Until that happens, maybe you should take a step back from slaming the guy.

  10. You picked a good year to go.

Some of the fairweather Gopher fans that attend aren't that best.

IMO the Gopher fans attending this year will be much better...a non-Gopher F5 keeps out the riff-raff. :glare:

You'll love the tourney though, it's one of the things I look forward to all year.

Hope to run into some posters while there!

Tell your AD that when they split up the play-off money

  11. sioux-gopher week is THE best rivalry in all of sports, bar none, but if the big 10 schools want to take their "superiority" to their own conference, i will be 100% in favor of not scheduling any of them at all, including um and uw, for the simple reason of the attitude gooferz so elequently displayed above (which is a common attitude of these "superior" schools, we'll get the games we want anyways). the wcha would obviously take a hit losing two great programs, but hopefully it would grow college hockey if this ever happens, and then i say F the bthc, and let them play each other 6 times a season (i realize these teams will have no problem getting games, but ideally, the rest of college hockey would stand up for itself and say, ok big guys, want to play us? come here and do it, god knows um doesnt travel ;) ) i realize this is a pipe dream as these schools will fill a schedule every season, but just voicing my opinion as to what should happen if the bthc happens... stand up for each other college hockey. the sioux can schedule home and homes with holy cross or air force or merrimack for all i care, heck with the way the pwr works now, cupcake wins are worth a heck of a lot more than a tough loss to a good team anyways.

    GO SIOUX!!

Wow and I thought St. Cloud had the Marsha, Marsha complex.

  12. Great....another top end recruit that will not play in the NCAA's as long as Lucia is in Minneapolis.

Wow, not trying to start anything from my end, but I do remember Lucia winning two NCAA titles. I will leave it at that since I am on SS.

  13. this has been discusses before and i think there was some sort of BS reason the gophers dont travel as they dont. 1 tourney to michigan isnt considered traveling. they never go out east, very rare to see that. i think its funny actually they dont. i loce that the sioux will play any east coast team in thier backyard and do so every year. fun to see as a sioux fan and wcha fan

Minnesota plays at Michigan and at Michigan State every other year. Not sure how you can blow that off so easy and not count that as traveling. The other years when there not in Michigan. 2006-07 went to Ohio State for two. 2004-05 Went up to Alaska and played U Mass and Alaska not conf game. Also had two at BU this year. 2002-03 went out to play New Hampshire for two. AZSIOUX, you need to get your facts straight before you blow hot air.

  14. That was a very entertaining game and for all of our friends from the "State of Hockey" it sure didn't feature very many Minnesotans. Perhaps you could change your name to the the State of Curling or find another obscure winter sport that is available for the taking. Just pick something without the fighting and you still have DaveK and his alternate personality HappyG as your biggest fans on this board. :silly:

If there is no talent in the State of Hockey, maybe North Dakota should stop recruiting there. Oh wait, I guess your coaching staff knows a little more about the game than you do.
