  1. Exactly, what I have bolded is a very strong argument, against your point that is. The sioux just simply aren't scoring for phil like they are for jordan, and i don't think anybody knows why, they just aren't. And so far it has appeard that the only way they will score in bunches is if jordan is in net. I'm not exactly sure how you figure that phil has outplayed jordan, when jordan's save % is higher and is close to the nations best. Why not start a hot goalie who your team will score for?
  2. I just had the worst feeling to start that penalty kill.
  3. Our penalties are bound to hurt us eventually
  4. Is Spirko even playing with Zajac and Oshie tonight. I have hardly heard his name called?
  5. UND is up 2-1 to start the 3rd period. Goals by Prpich and Zajac.
  6. Did he just say the penalty was on BRANDON STROUTH?
  7. Anyone got any scores to report from tonights games?
  8. Yes the news just said it was justin connell, 3 goals and 1 assist he had.
  9. I will give a small summary of the BHS-Hazen game. BHS won 6-1, and looked very good. I have seen both hazen and minot play this season now, and it's tough to believe that hazen beat minot. BHS dominated the game tonight and i believe the final shots announced were something like 30-13. Hillman looked good once again, and I believe Mcbain(gillen's site says he is tied for the points lead) had their only goal, but he didnt stand out too much to me I didn't think. The best player on the ice was Ross Monson. He looked dangerous every time he touched the puck, and I believe he had 3 or 4 points. Also, one of his linemates got a hat trick, but i can't remember who it was.
  10. Any scores on any other games tonight? Bismarck High beat Hazen 6-1.
  11. Predictions on tomorrow night's games from anyone? Hazen at Bismarck High? Jamestown at Fargo South? Devils Lake at Bottineau?
  12. Definetely it is not playing like they should most of the time. Perfect example-They get crushed by a physically dominating minnesota 6-1 on a friday and then come back and win 4-2 on a saturday in what was a very even game. If they can play with minnesota, they can play with anybody, so in my opinion they are just flat out not playing like they should. It is definetely not conditioning or strength, as they usually are still going strong and hitting hard in the 3rd. They haven't gotten too many good bounces all season either.
  13. Last night Bismarck beat Century in overtime 3-2. Ross Monson had 2 goals for the Demons. He looked very good again. It was a very hard fought game, and BHS goalie Michael Hillman and Century goalie Nick Dene came up with some huge saves in the third period to keep it tied for overtime. With about 3 minutes left Hillman stopped 2 great chances in a row(including a breakaway). It was a very good game with some big hits.
  14. Sure it sounds like a great idea to just "dress a player who can score". But what team has ever won with all scorers? You need grinders/hard workers to get the energy up for when your star players are having off nights. Where would UND have been last year without their grinder line. That line basically took the team to the national title game once it was playoff time.
  15. Does anyone(especially Wilbur, since I believe he knows west hockey) have a prediction on the Century/Bismarck High game tonight?
  16. DaveK, I hate to say it, but I love and have played a lot of hockey, and I feel that fighting is a good way to protect star players. You have to realize that the only reason they have enforcers on a team is so they can protect the stars(thats the reason why Pittsburgh just picked up Eric Cairns, just to protect crosby). It will hopefully deter the other team from taking free shots at your best players, without any consequences. Without fighters, there would be a lot more injuries, IMO. I suggest you watch the video "Honor and Courage: Tough guys of the NHL". Honestly it gives you a new respect for the bruisers of the game, and it really gets to a person to hear the stories. I think it would change your perspective a bit.
  17. Bismarck 9-3 over Mandan. Ross Monson(he looked very good, and I believe he was one of the leaders on their team in points) had something like 4 or 5 goals and had some nice moves. I don't believe Michael Hillman played either.

    Toews

In the latest ISS rankings released, Jonathan Toews has passed you know who and is in the 2nd spot. Good job jonathan.
  19. Do you think this was just a bad game for red river, or is roseau that good? I noticed on the high school hockey site that they beat bismarck high 6-0 at a holiday tournament(don't know where it was at though). So I'm assuming they're good, but did red river just have an off night or what?
  20. Why does every good debate, regardless of the topic, end in "West hockey sucks, and east will win all 4 opening round games this year". Regardless if it's true or not, for god's sakes people don't chime in if all you're going to say is something stupid like that. Yes we all know the east is way better then the west, but i DO NOT care about that right now.
  21. Just giving you an idea, but did you consider the "type" of shots that goalies like Deichert face every game. I'm gonna go ahead and guess that even though he sees 15-20 shots a game, i bet 75% of those shots are harmless shots from the perimeter. I shouldn't say harmless, maybe "not as dangerous". I would bet that Deichert and Rosendahl see only 5 or so point blank chances per game. That is not a knock on those two at all, it is a tribute to how good their defense in front of them is. You can't just go on stats alone and who's on the best team. Take, for example, Marty Brodeur. He is on a below average team, and his stats aren't the best. But don't kid yourselves and say he can't steal a game for his team, because every time he plays, there's a chance he can. I don't know if that was the best example though . Anyways, from the 5 or so games i've seen Hillman play this year, I don't really understand how incredibly good Rosendahl and Deichert must be to be considered "Head and shoulders" above him.
  22. IMO Tony Kringstad(I have seen him play 3 times, and have heard about him playing from other games by posters on this site) is not the correct choice for goalie. From all accounts, Rosendahl of RR is having a very good year, as is Michael Hillman out west. I have seen about 5 of BHS's games this year, and have heard from other posters that every game they have seen him play, he has been lights out. Every game I've seen him play, he looks to be a top notch high school goalie. I wasn't at the Fargo South-BHS game(south won 3-1) but I hear that Hillman absolutely stole the show with his performance there. So I would say either him or Eli Rosendahl would have to be the goaltenders in mind for All-state consideration.
  23. Vande Velde with 3 goals and 1 assist tonight in 8-1 win.
  24. While you might be right on everything else(I honestly don't know) there are more then 3 teams. There is 1)Prep 2)U-16 3)Midget AAA(the team that shanley played) 4)Midget AAA 5)Midget AA 6)Bantam Tier I 7)Bantam Tier II. And I believe the talent level is in the order I just listed. I'm not putting anything against Shanley because I haven't seen them play, and it IS shattuck, so there must be some talent. I'm just saying that it is nowhere close to shattuck's prep team that they played.
  25. If I'm not mistaken, their midget AAA team is basically their JV team. So it would seem to me that it is a bunch of kids with a lot of money who aren't generally the best players, but they want to play for a powerhouse school. I shouldn't speculate, but I guess thats what it seems to be.
