My thoughts 6 months prior to the season pre spring ball and fall camp............ Wyoming: Don't know anything about them. UND football is not yet in a place where I expect them to get a win against any FBS program. Drake: Should win this one fairly convincingly, at least by 17+ NDSU: They are not a horrible matchup for our defense, but based on last year there is no way that I can expect our offense to do anything against what I feel has been the best overal defense in FCS for several years now. Anything can happen in a rivalry game though. UC Davis: Davis was 2-9 last year and has been down for a few years now. This should be a win in the Alerus. Portland St: After winning at home last year, and losing by just 1 at PSU in 2013, I feel like this is a game UND can win Idaho St.: This is not at all a good match up for UND, based on how our secondary played last season. Weber St.: The loss to the Wildcats at home last year really bothered me. I feel like we should beat them, but am not real confident. Montana: We've always competed fairly well with the Griz (except 2013), but they will have a very different offensive scheme. Tough to get wins in WaGriz Montana St.: We played all right against them last year. With the game at home, hopefully this is the year we close the gap on them. Northern Colorado: Senior day in the Alerus against Da Bears should send the seniors out on a high note. Cal Poly: Bubba and Schmidt have built this defense to stop the run, and that is exactly what Poly is goint to try and do. Over and over and over. Tough road game to close the season. I see 3 games where we are the clear favorite: Drake, UC Davis, and UNC. I see 3 games wher we are clearly the underdog: Wyoming, NDSU, and Montana The other 5, for me, are too close to call either way right now. I think best case scenario, we win 7 games with 6 being more likely.

I didn't say our run D was better, but it is good, just my opinion. You seem to think it is overated. You said there are no good running teams in the Big Sky. There were in fact more Big Sky teams in the Top 10 in rushing last season than there were MVFC teams. In fact, Big Sky teams gain on average 180 rush yards per game while MVFC teams gain 164 yards per game, so it appears as though the Big Sky is actually the more physical, smash mouth, conference where teams focus on establishing a run game. Western Illinois?>?...........yep Missouri St ran all over us. And the only team that gave up more rush yards to the Leathernecks last season than NDSU was Valparaiso. So what does all that mean? It means we didn't do a good job stopping the run on the day we played Missouri St., and NDSU didn't do a good job of stopping the run on the day they played Western Illinois.

Cal Poly was tough for everyone to stop, they led the nation in rushing for crying out loud. It would have been interesting to see NDSU play Cal Poly last year also. I'm not sure I agree that there are no good run teams in the Big Sky. Montana St. was 7th in the nation in rushing. They mustered 62 yards on the ground against North Dakota in Bozeman. Montana racked up a whopping 68 rushin yards against FU in the Fargodome. We gave up 42 rushing yards to them in the Alerus. You picked about the only component of the UND football program to talk smack about that doesn't warrant it. Well played.

Is there a defined geographical area for each regional? Is there any reason in the future that REA/Scheels couldn't bid on the Midwest regional if say Denver or CC were bidding on the West regional?

In conference play, this team is 5th in 3 pt attempts, and dead last in 3 pt percentage. De Rouen is particularly maddening. He's hoisted up 83 treys on the year, 2nd most on the team, but is hitting just 30%. If he didn't foul out so often, he would probably chuck a lot more up there. Some of these guys just need to accept the fact that long range shooting is just not part of there game.
