I think they bring in Zellers, Klee, Zakreski, Schultz + 1-2 more CHL guys up front. + 2-3 transfers. Probably just Laurila on the back end but maybe Lindberg if they want extra depth with Zmolek’s injury history

Yes, I was responding to someone arguing that Nick Schmaltz was a very good player and was a pass first guy. but even he shot it way more than Swanson. It was rare that Swanson was even looking at the net when he had the puck in the O zone.

Schmaltz had 47 shots his freshman year. Swanson had 26. You can be a pass first guy and still shoot it on net twice a game

I doubt Jamernik will play pro with how much he’s invested into his aviation career, but I’d be intrigued to see which guys post his pro signing post…

Pinto was before NIL and the transfer portal allowed unlimited transfers. I get your point though. Also, he was a guy who grew up watching videos of North Dakota hockey. I think he truly loved it and embraced the culture. I don’t think you can say that for most guys from those areas. Going back to 2021, UND has lost Boisvert, McLaughlin, Emerson, Benoit, Costantini, and Cooper Moore. All eastern guys.

Add Cameron Korpi of Michigan to that list.

I doubt Hedquist is going to sit for a 3rd year. I’m betting he’s in the portal sometime soon. I have a suspicion that the coaching staff is vetting if Heil is ready or if they could bring in another transfer goalie with 3 years remaining like Knapp from Duluth or Musser from CC to take over after next year and then have Heil come in behind them.

I’m not even recruiting kids from the northeast US and eastern Canada unless they come to Chyzyk and the staff first at this point.
