IPFW, who unfortunately may soon be a conference mate of ours, is not only hosting the #3 Hoosiers in Fort Wayne but they have been in control and lead for virtually the entire game. Just under 9 mins left and airing on BTN.

Geography absolutely counts. And it is pretty remarkable how well the geography of the Big Sky mirrors many of the primary locations that large groups of UND alumni are found. As our teams, especially football, continue to establish themselves as title contenders in the Big Sky and are making the national tournaments, the Alumni Association and Foundation is going to love being able to have fundraisers and host tailgating parties in places such as Arizona, Colorado, Oregon, Washington and California.
I really don't think we are going to realize all of the potential benefits of the Big Sky until some time has gone by. Once we have established ourselves in the conference and had time to grow into a full Division I university and fanbase, at that point I think the benefits of being in the Big Sky will really become apparent.

Nothing that really affects UND or any of the conferences in the region but some FCS news.
Looks like Campbell U in North Carolina will be announcing that they are going to begin offering football scholarships. They are currently non-scholarship and play in the Pioneer League. The team will be moving to the Big South Conference where Campbell is already a member for all other sports.
Also, Texas A&M Kingsville and Texas A&M Corpus Christi have tentatively agreed to merge into one school. TAMU-CC is DI in the Southland Conference but does not have football. TAMU-K plays football at the D2 level in the Lone Star Conference. The merged school would remain DI and intend to sponsor DI football.

When it came out publicly that Texas A&M was talking to the SEC about a move to that conference everyone started saying that aTm would never make it on their own without rival Texas and the other schools in the Big XII. People told them it was the dumbest move that that they could make. aTm went ahead and chose to create their own path instead of always being stuck at the hip to the Longhorns.
Looking at that decision today and it is proof that all those people were wrong. The aTm athletic department has had a ton of success and their fan interest and alumni donations have never been better.
Sometimes it is good to stand on your own two feet, create your own path, make your own goals.

UND still leads 2-1.
