tough get...holding 12 offers according to Verbal Commits.  Has offers from Arizona State, Arkansas State and Eastern Michigan.

Good thing we’re showing him that he is a priority to us!! Kids want to go to places that they feel wanted and like a priority!

    Let’s get him!!

I hope our qbs will be able to run and scramble for 1st downs and keep the opponents guessing this year

And throw the ball further than 3 yards in the air

Isn't there a qui-pro-quo for the business, though?  I thought the idea behind Name, Image, and Likeness was that athletes could sell their Name, Image, and Likeness to a business in exchange for money.  For example, the Tellmans give $X to the collective so long as Sioux players appear in a Red Pepper commercial; or every Friday night Cameron Berg needs to send out a tweet telling the drunk hockey crowd to pick up a Grinder After the Game; etc.

Yes. That is how it is supposed to be. That is true NIL. All the big schools are doing 'Pay for Play' right now.

I guess my point/questioning is, say Berg gets $30k from Red Pepper through this collective. Does him appearing in a commercial/tweeting about Red Pepper have a positive ROI for Red Pepper? I guess I just question if it does. Look at Mattress Cam in Fargo. Not sure what he got to be in those commercials but I doubt him doing that NIL deal had a positive ROI for the mattress store.

I think it may be hard to continue to convince the businesses in GF year after year that contributing to this collective gives them a better benefit than contributing to other groups/foundations. Not sure it is sustainable. I could be completely wrong though! Just sharing my thoughts on NIL at small schools.

Maaaaaaybe as part of an advertizing budget.

Possibly I suppose. Probably better ways to advertise though.

It is going to be hard to try and convince enough businesses/owners that this payment to the collective is anything other than just a donation. And if that is the case, I would think a lot of these people would rather donate to a group that gives them a tax benefit for their donation.

There is no/very very minimal chance of ROI through the collective at a small mid-major school. At the big schools there is definitely a ROI case by contributing to their local schools collective.

  5. I just don't see the ROI to donating to the collective if you're a business in Grand Forks, ND.

It would have to be looked at as strictly a "donation" (but with no tax benefit since the collective is for-profit) and not an actual investment.

Any insights into how this goes down? A coach sits across from a player they have spent two years supporting and developing in their academic and athletic life. Kid says everything is fine one day and the next the coach sees them in the portal?

So the kid was lying and plotting the whole time for a bag of silver. One injury, or they don't meet expectations, and that new school, which sees them as a piece of meat, will throw them on the scrap heap and have a new bag for the next one on the list.

Integrity, honesty, friendships, gone for a bag of silver that will be gone in a year.

This is such a bad take

I mean in other sports you’re seeing the NIL numbers being thrown out left and right. I think it’s a fair question. I get that it doesn’t need to be public but still.

Yeah I see no issue with him asking that question either.

I think the majority of people that saw that post thought the exact same thing.

On WCCO last night Mike Max said Payne from gophers is gonna get $700k+ somewhere else.  Also hinted the SU big man is approaching 7 figures but wasn’t definite on that. Looks like he went to Nebraska.

I'm guessing that 7 was a typo and was meant to be a 6 because there is absolutely no chance Morgan is getting even remotely close to that amount from Nebraska.

  9. I don't think it will be enough, but Omaha put together the largest Mid-Major NIL package to date to try and keep Frankie Fiddler a Maverick next year.

Tony Osborn made a cryptic Twitter post yesterday saying that he isn't a "former Maverick" yet....... And Frankie has also told people recently that he doesn't want to drift very far from home.

Will be interesting to see where he ends up. He makes his decision on Monday at 8 am.

Would think they’d be looking to only land one of Hurlburt and Moni, right? I guess if both come, great, but they seem a bit redundant in playing style. I could be wrong. Hurlburt having 3 years of eligibility is intriguing but also in todays world it’s all 1 year deals.

Ideally another PG that can run the offense and shoot it from 3. Then Hurlburt.

That would be the most ideal situation for the last 2 scholarships in my opinion. Unsure how likely that is to work out though.

Don’t think he’ll ever develop to play on the wing, but definitely offers some ball handling ability to attack other 5s. Tons of potential that is definitely worth a shot. Guards grow on trees, good luck finding quality big guys at this level

Sorry. Didn't mean he would play on the wing. More so he has the ability to take slower players off the dribble in a pick & pop long closeout type situation. He's not strictly a back to the basket type of big guy. He has some skill that he can continue to be expanded on.
