Tim O'Connell had a similar accident only it was the skate across his face they put in 40 stitches. Player in front of him was checked and flew over the guy and his skate sliced Tim over the cheek bone. Had he been wearing a half mask tho it might have been worse cause the skate would've caught the bottom of the shield and who knows how much more damage it would've done. After seeing Zednik's thank goodness Tims wasn't as bad.

Cullen is doing an invitation only for the Moorhead youth hockey kids. They will each get to have their picture taken with Cullen and the cup and then at the end they will have a group picutre taken. Nice thing to do for those young players.

I am wondering if anyone ever thought that it might not be REA to blame for the new round of Season ticket prices? The letter is from Bunning and the donation goes to Foundation not REA and the athletic department is in the hole so the cuts may be going to UND Athletics and not REA. It's just a thought. Because if you read the letter it was one of the hardest decissions they had to make (ya right) doing these adjustments. It is just my opinion but I think that this round is UND Athletics not REA. I believe some of it has been REA but maybe just not this time.

I'm not sure why the respect is gone but the more I watch you see it. I personally don't care for the fighting I'd rather see a hard hitting physical game but that is the way hockey used to be. The WCHA could adopt the rules in USHL they do fight but in the last 10 minutes of the 3rd if you drop the gloves your out for the remainder of that game and the next game also if you drop the drop the gloves you sit for 5 no matter what so some of them do have to think a little before they fight . You ususally don't see much fighting at the end of the third. They also let them play hockey it is physical but the calls that are called are the ones that need to be inforced high stick,checking from behind,boarding etc. those are the ones with the most potential to cause injury they are the ones that are called and a lot of the little stuff is let go. Of course it has been a few years since I watched the USHL but it also seemed like the kids knew what was going to be called and it did seem to be consistant throughout the league. Maybe that is where some of the problem lies no consistancy in the reffing .

I posted this earlier the ECHL ,UHL,CHL all have mandatory face shields and there isn't more high sticking than in any other game. No one in those leagues have refused to wear a face mask the players that are from the NHL that are playing in the ECHL this year aren't refusing to wear the face mask so if you can do in this league why not the NHL or AHL. If you want to play and that is the rule you'll follow the rules or not play so then the choice will be yours. It is just a bunch of excuses not to mandate the use of face shields full half or cage which ever the player wants to wear. I watch a lot of ECHL and the sticks aren't any higher and if the calls are made that are put in place you wouldn't have the problem. Nicks injury wasn't caused by an intentional high stick and if he would've had even a half shield he would probably not be in the hospital today. Part of the problem is that the players don't have the respect for each other that they did years ago. So your seeing more eye injuries ,broken wrists, knees blown out etc.

Actually from the EChl down it is madatory to wear at least half shields. Not sure why the AHL,or NHL don't see fit to put it as a rule. A couple of years ago when O'Connell was playing in the Ahl he got an elbow to the eye and it broke his orbital bone in two places which he now has two metal plates holding the bone together.

Well it looks like Nick will be joining Polaski from CC and Laatsh from Denver kinda ironic to have to play with Laatsh right after losing to Denver.

I think that if you remember the first season of Dean Blais his stats are not great he had 19 wins,18 loses and 1 tie. This is Haks first year so give him time to adjust from being an assisant coach to the head coach there are adjustments for him and the players. Just another little stat the year 2001-2002 Blais's record was 16 wins and 19 loses and 2 ties so even the best can not be the best. Calm down and let the year play out. Also we lost a lot of fire power and you also have to remember with Brady out it even seems like more fire power gone and he might be the little spark that is missing. But you need to have patience. Hak will do fine but like all good things it takes time.

Providence knows how to put on a tournament was the most fun. To bad they won't be able to host another tournament because they know how to do it right.I would have to say fun was had by all.

I think that what made it a great season (2000) is that no one expected it. After 97 they had what it took to take the next year's but didn't. Chad Johnson did play for the sioux. Jim Scanlan who coaches for the Greenwave (EGF.Mn) was assistant coach for UND under Gaspirini. (not sure if he was a sioux player)

Jakes stats wouldn't be as good as they are if he didn't have the defense that he has in front of him.

I think Jay Panzer also had 4.0 The hockey team has had pretty high grade points since Blais took over. There have been others I think Mitch Vig also had 4.0 or close

I get some real neagtive vibes that you all aren't real sure about Hak and some of the other prospects as coaches: John Marks was assistant coach at UND for 2 years. IHL coach for 6 years, ECHL coach for 10 years. Carey Eades was assistant coach 2 years for UND not consecutive either 85-86 and 90-91 no record of coaching in the hire ranks between those times,coached USHL 91-93. Not sure when he started at Warroad so High School Coach til now. Scott Sandelin quit playing in 92 and became assistant coach at UND in 95 for 5 years now head coach for Duluth. While playing for UND his assistant coaches were Eades & Marks Steve Johnson USHL Coach for 8 years also played under Eades & Marks Dave Hakstol USHL Coach for 4 years and Assistant Coach at UND for 4 years Looking at the record of experience John Marks is the one most qualified for the job and of course this isn't what any of there winning or lose record is where they have coached just the amount of experience they have.

You keep bringing up Steve Johnson as coach what makes you think he is more qualified than Hak he has no college coaching experience at all so what will make him better? Hak coached in the USHL and he has been an assistant in D1 for 4 years sooo what gives Johnson the edge??
