  1. He would have been Pete Stewart's #1 assistant.
  2. The Alumni Association "Sioux Award" is being presented to a number of alums tomorrow. I would look at the list of recipients for clues.
  3. I'm leaving work....going home and put on my UND Letterwinner's jacket, my 100 Years of Men's BB hat, my 1977 conference/reginal championship ring, and pull out my old bb team photos...and have a good pity party! When that's over I'm going to start thinking of ways I can help Brain Jones bring success and glory to the men's bb team. I will not hold the seriously flawed process (at best) against him. I will, however, express my thoughts on the process to those responsible. Go Sioux!
  4. I hope that everyone will support the new coach. I will. However, until the moment the of truth...your "bottom line", I will push for the opportunity to interview more candidates.....we can do better!
  5. Peter Stewart got the refernece from Bob Knight. He and Knight go way back. Peter has worked camps for him...they go hunting together, etc. Coach tried to call LTC, but he was not taking calls regarding the position!! Stewart has not gotten an interview......yet.
  6. I am so sorry for my posting errors.....rookie mistake!
  7. Peter has recuited and can recruit. He has recuited to teams in Austrailia and now at Peninsula College. The # of schlorships do not impact the need to recruit...you still need players. The likelyhood of a good #1 D1 assistant applying for the UND job are slim. Most want to stay in the D1 environment. This is not the USC football job. He is not looking elsewhere. The assistants he has lined up want to coach with him....at UND! He likes where he is at and only wants to return to ND and the Fighting Sioux...not Mary College, not Bemidji State, etc. Email me at jstewart@srt.com and I'll send you more info on him. I'd love to have you in his corner.
  8. To 61hawk and others who have not followed his career since he left UND....I have seen him as a HEAD coach on three different continents (he has HEAD coached on four)...he has coached college players in the US, professional players (including the former DII and DI players) in Austrailia, China and Europe. I have spent two weeks in China with him where he was the HEAD coach for a exhibition series againt the Chinese Olympic team in 1996. The guy can flat out coach and lead. UND would be an easy transition for him. His staff would be outstanding. His #1 assistant at UND would be the current four year #1 assistant (Matt Bowen-his resume alone is better than any of the current three candidates) at Valparaiso...that's Homer Drew DI Midcontinent Conference Valpo...two conference titles and an NCAA appearance in the those four years. His #2 assistant would be Derrick Witt who has a National Junior College championship on his coaching resume. He has great recruiting contacts around the country and around the world. He has won every where he has HEAD coached. And recommended by Bob Knight. As I said before, if he gets an interivew, he'll knock their..and your socks off!
  9. Peter played for Gunther and was a team captain. Played and coached professionally in Austrailia after graduation. Has been head coach at Peninsula College in Port Angeles for three years. Took over a 3-24 team and has won two conference championships and finished second once. Coach Bob Knight was a reference. He is a great coach and leader!
  10. What about the three former Sioux players that are already head coaches that applied? Peter Stewart Mike Boschee Peter Stewart I'll admit a bias. Peter Stewart is my brother and would do a great job. Give him a chance to interview on-campus before the committee, the staff and students of UND, the letterewinners and the community and he would knock their socks off!!
  11. I agree with hoops guy about local candidates not getting a look because of an Division 1 or 2 experience requirement. A resume of success is the most important attribute, not just a resume of experience. That's the price we are paying because of the short UND time span for the AD and his assistant. But be careful about asking them to not listen to some of the big time coaches. Some of them are behind just the type of candidates you are talking about......UND grads and former players!! At the end of the day it is the AD's call. He is after the same thing that all of us are....men's bb success on the hardwood. Just because he is going about it differently than any of us would doesn't make it the wrong way.....just harder for those of us who have long and strong ties to the bb program to understand. At the end of the day....let's all strongly support the next head coach!!
  12. Coaches at this level almost always bring an entire new staff to a program. Whoever gets the job will not hire people that they do not know and will not take the job if told who they will hire as assistants ( see Tim Miles and UNC-Wilmington )
  13. As an indication of the relative merits of both, I suggest you look at the schools that play the sports and also the national championship locations, venues and attendance. I believe that being a national power in D1 hockey is much preferable to being a national power in 1AA football.
  14. The Bradley Center in Milwaukee hosts the Frozen Four next year.
  15. I've already started the process......however, it takes the arenas until after the first of the year to confirm availability, pricing, etc. I'll post again next year.
  16. A group of loyal Sioux alums has once again secured a Suite for the Frozen Four in Columbus. The Suite holds twenty and we have a number of tickets left. Contact me at jstewart@ndak.net if you are interested.
  17. 2..........maybe 4 tickets available for all three games in Suite 621 with a bunch of Sioux Fans. These have a face of $800 each. Will take $400 each. Contact @ jstewart@ndak.net
  18. Have 2, maybe four in Suite 621 for all three games with a bunch of Sioux fans. $400 each..........$800 face. Reply to jstewart@ndak.net
