Can be on the ice, but can't directly coach the goalies....
I'm going to tell my wife that I'll be in the house, but can't directly parent the kids.

Announcement coming today I'm told. Not player related, but others have hinted that this was going to happen.

With the West likely having no contenders, is there anyone from the East that will be able to run with GFC+RR to at least give hope of avoiding the all GF ship yet again? FD, FN, WFS, WF?
If/when it becomes official with Mattern and Peterson leaving WFHS that will make things pretty official that its RR and GFC.
I've heard rumors from former Central players I know that Paranica may be ready to hand things over to Moreland at GFC. Again, we all love rumors.
The not too early, not difficult prediction whatsoever is the Knights are your 2026 state champs.

Got to remember as well that Zmolek is coming off a season long injury and we really don't know if he will be able to stay healthy.
I think you'll see Verhoeff start out third pair and slowly build his way up to top four minutes.
He's a first round kid, but the NCHC will be a jump. Being 6'4 as a 17 year old helps.

Would he be considered a grinda or a chippa?
Simple question...

Who are some of the top returning players? Minot losing a few to juniors I hear? GPR and DL have a few young studs but not enough. RR and GFC will reload no problem im sure. How are the Fargo and WF schools looking?
Looks like century and Mandan will be top dogs out west? Legacy losing a few kids early including their freshman phenom.
I've heard from more than a few folks that Minot is going to lose some good kids. I'd assume their goaltender is top of the list.
WFHS will lose a lot with Mattern heading wherever he heads, and Peterson going to Sioux Falls is the latest rumor. I've also heard Spiewak for Davies is on his way to Sioux Falls as well..
Expect a GFC-RR state championship again.

We really are spoiled by the number of players that have come through the University over the years that have turned into quality coaches.
Steve Johnson, Chad Johnson, Brad Berry, Karl Goehring, Dane Jackson, Scott Sandelin, Jason Herter, Grant Paranica, Tarek Howard, Tim Skarperude, Tyler Palmiscno, Cary Eades, Dave Tippett, Rick Zombo, Matt Smaby, Colten St. Clair, Dave Hakstol, Jeff Bowen, Jim Archibald, Al Henry, Brad Malone, Dillon Simpson....
And that's just off the top of my head.

To be completely fair, Wilbur is a known first-class jerk whom I would not want in my family, which is already full of first-class jerks who are not goalies, which is bad enough.
Could not agree more. +1

New Packer head coach news coming out in the near future. Will wait until its news official, but sounds like they've got their guy.

Any idea where Cooper Deziel (GFC) is playing next year?
I heard he was up at camp with Steinbach in Manitoba earlier this month, but was released.

I'm sure @Wilbur took it personally.
I can rest easy knowing that the NCAA regional games will continue to be played in half full arenas hundreds of miles from where their home arenas sit vacant.

This USHL final between Muskegon and Waterloo is a war. Love it.
Someone alert the NCAA coaches!!! The game is being played in a packed home arena.....

There is an argument that this makes both leagues better. A ton of prime 16-17 year old Americans like Rudolph and Jundt never step foot north of the border without the new agreement. And likewise college teams with good relationships up north will grab some kids like Williams who are able to jump in the CHL and flourish at a young age and see that the next step is obviously the college game against older and better put together players.

A lot can happen over the course of a hockey season.

Jundt headed to Calgary. The new normal for the 17 year olds has begun.

Lists out for the Northern Plains District Development camp. 08-12 birth years.

And Williston is now in the market for a new coach as Matt Ekblad has resigned from the Coyotes.

Monday, October 13 is Columbus Day. Schools and some employers will be closed. Maybe that is part of the thought behind it?
I hope you're right sir!

Yes they have some good players up there. What is Fox Motors?
AAA program in Michigan. Leif Ekblad from Williston attended there a few years back. Sounds like his youngest sibling is following his foot steps.

2025-26 University of North Dakota Hockey Season

I really hope Dane is steadfast in the whole "identity of our team" talk he's been throwing out to Schlossman time and again. I let my guard down when Berry would constantly bring up our #culture, and the drive to play a #fullsixty, and at the end of the day I don't think I can handle that happening again. We can't let #identity become a thing for us keyboard warriors....thankfully #ferdaoxbow didn't....
Having intense individuals added to the staff like Smaby and JPL help.
