  1. I bought an HDTV yesterday. I live in a tiny, tiny house and a 32" screen is plenty for me. Otherwise, it would be like being in the front row at an IMAX! The cable company is coming tomorrow for the DVR install so I can view channels in HD that are available in HD. I'm sure this is dumbing it down for most readers but it was news to me: the local cable company provides a handful of "in the clear" (free) HD channels. KVLY in HD is the one I watched last night and the picture for Sunday Night Football was amazing. Until you are receiving and paying for HD programming with a DVR or HD receiver, the other channels you receive are going to look like crap because of the difference in resolution. The signal is coming into the TV in standard def and the TV is showing it in high def. As a result, those channels look worse than on the old CRT set. The cable guy cannot get to my house fast enough to work his high def magic.

The set I bought is a Panasonic 32" LCD, 720p. It was only $330 and I think it was just right given my circumstances. The circumstances of being cheap and living in a small space.

  2. This should be a barnburner. Come out flyin' and get that first goal. Although that strategy didn't work so well for the Mavs last night, did it? I keep hoping that this year's Sioux will develop into the kinda team they were in the late 90s. Come back kids. A four-goal lead by (for sake of example let's say, the visiting Gophers) was not safe from our guys. They OWNED the third, ground down their opponents, had legs of aerodynamic kevlar or something. Best conditioned team on the ice. That's the way I remember it, anyway.

Don't think the Mavs are about to roll over and present oysters for castration tonight but, once we get them down, let's keep them there.

    I cannot wait.

  3. I assume Theismann is there to do some type of TV/broadcasing coverage. If you see him before he heads to his gig, make sure to tell him to "break a leg". :(

    Sioux sweep!!

"Break a leg"?? Man, even after all the time that's passed, that's harsh.

  4. Ticketmaster has plenty of tickets left for Friday, I didn't check Saturday. It is Thanksgiving weekend and the students are gone so there are tickets left in 1 lower section and all of the student upper deck sections plus a couple of more. Ticketmaster.com is now more interactive so you can pick your seats.

FWIW, I went to the Ralph's box office before last night's game and got 5 for MM each night against Notre Dame, seats together in section 109.

I know many students will be enjoying Thanksgiving at home with the folks but if you are a Sioux fan who's driven or flown in to North Dakota for Thanksgiving , I hope you'll get the chance to come see the team play.

  5. I'm looking for 5 or 6 tickets to the weekend series over Thanksgiving for the Notre Dame series. I'd definitely prefer lower level, but beggars can't be choosers. Time to make the once-a-year trip to Grand Forks. GO SIOUX!

Hey, MM. Is the ND-UND game sold out? If not, I'll check at the box office tonight and see what's available and text you.
