Names that I’m aware of where there was reportedly some interest or they have visited:

Chiang Ring, PF Park Center - twitter interest

Patrick Rowe, G/F Chisago Lakes - visited, possible PWO

Greyson Uelmen, G Minnetonka - visited, possible PWO

These are all 24s. Might be in the wrong thread

Cal has had 9 guys from the portal commit including some guys that certainly could cut into BJ’s minutes. Wonder how it will shake out.

Definitely not ideal for him. Love Andrej Stojakovic’s game. The Air Force kid looks good. They got JOJ. Tough spot for BJ, wonder what he was told while they were recruiting him

Well now unless we come out of nowhere with someone, which they very well could, thinking we could be looking at Woodson at the 4 like @GoodGoodmentioned and sliding Trey to the 3 and then either King or Panoam starting at the 2. I guess Mayar was starting at the 4 to start the year so maybe he has a good offseason and retakes that spot again.

I agree with sliding Trey to the 3 and starting a 3 guard lineup. I like Woodson and Mayar at the 4. Both provide something different. Amar at the 5 with Matthew’s and maybe Erickson providing some spot minutes? Will Mara be ready to play some real minutes off the bench? With 1 scholarship left I don’t think you want 4 scholarships tied up at the 5 spot but maybe you need another 6’6” -6’8” body on the wing? Not sure what would be best

Yeah I was thinking the same thing. Talented kid though. Just going to be interesting how they distribute the minutes. Who gets more of the backup PG role between King and Panoam or do they kind of split it? Not either of their strong suits.

Might be wishful thinking on landing Moni but I’m thinking our lineup looks like this:

    Thomas / Panoam / Kraft

    Eaglestaff / King / Doppler

    Woodson / Mara

    Moni / Mayar / Bothun

    Amar / Mathews / Erikson

On paper, I think this looks solid. How they gel, is another question but this seems like a Summit League contender.

I am also still holding out hope we get my guy Patrick Rowe to walk-on.

From his clips on X I thought Woodson looked like a 4. I could be wrong though

Any insights into how this goes down? A coach sits across from a player they have spent two years supporting and developing in their academic and athletic life. Kid says everything is fine one day and the next the coach sees them in the portal?

So the kid was lying and plotting the whole time for a bag of silver. One injury, or they don't meet expectations, and that new school, which sees them as a piece of meat, will throw them on the scrap heap and have a new bag for the next one on the list.

Integrity, honesty, friendships, gone for a bag of silver that will be gone in a year.

And a coach will sit down in a kids living room, look him and his parents in the eyes, and tell him he has no interest in taking any other jobs... then accept a new job the next day. Integrity, honesty, blah blah blah....

    I said what I said...haha!

    I've seen them both play...Moni > Hurlburt...and I'll stand by that.

To be fair no one has seen Hurlburt play for 2 years. If I had to guess he could’ve put up some decent numbers at Northern State

i know bj was long and athletic...but is our new guy long, athletic, and a little beefier and a better shooter?

Not sure if they even play the same position. Woodson looks like a 4 to me. But yes is beefier and can shoot it better. I’d say not the dynamic athlete and can’t handle like BJ could. I think 2 dribbles was the most I seen him take. Still think he’s a good fit and would be shocked if he couldn’t be a productive player at this level.

He does seem to be a players coach.  With how this whole portal thing is going that is a plus to be able to recruit and be liked.  I look at NDSU and i think Richman is going to have a hard time adjusting to this new way.   Look for UND to surpass NDSU in the future.   I wouldn't mind if Sather ran a couple plays once in awhile,  but I guess if you recruit the right athletes who needs plays!

I will give Sather credit, I like what he’s done with the last couple of classes (still skeptical on the redshirt freshman class though). His first couple of classes had a TON of misses. Maybe he needed to adjust to what he thought would work at the d1 level, maybe it was the state of the program, maybe they were just misses. Whatever it was, he’s done a much better job imo. The in game stuff could still use some work!

One of the few times that I've personally known a student athlete on a UND team.  Congrats to him and his family.  I believe he would have known/played with Starcevic, so maybe that can lure him here, too.

He’s a great kid! Happy he’s coming to UND!
