Understand ..but I do not think revenue sharing from the Frozen Four will be enough to balance a Div 1 budget.... We need Funds? and If the BIG MONEY is in the NCAA Final Four..and the BCS two of which I believe we will never get a consistent chance at...? BCS Never beacuse of 1AA I believe the share with Conference Affiliation 1st and Particapants 2nd....

I guess it boils down to the Most Prestigous of Sports at the Div1 Level is The NCAA B-Ball tourney unless you can get into the BCS Championships-(NOT) There are more schools Chasing that dream then ever...and Continue to do so....Div1 Institutions do not like to share revenues....Case in Point---We GET NOTHING, for a 7 time National Champion Hockey Program?... I personally do not feel The UND,Community,School,Coaches,Programs can compete at satisfactory success level to ...Be in Div 1.. Recruiting the right Athletes Balancing the Budget Support of Fans and Alumni are the 3 of the main reasons...

hey UND92,96...can u help me out on this.... How Many DIV 1aa....FOOTBALL teams? How Many Div 1..Football? How many Div2....Football teams? How many Div 1 Hockey Teams? And maybe about how many Div 1 Mens , Womens Bball? I could look it up.. but I'm sure you may already know? Thanks in advance

Couple of other things to keep in mind.... Big Sky is a Dream...Do not think it will happen in our lifetime...They have made a commitment to stay west, and Besides that Remember...DIV1 Institutions "DO NOT WANT US"...why share revenues with anymore schools then you have too? Bincitysioux- Do we have the Pateince for any losing seasons.....All I ever hear at the Bar, is why we dont win now?...There are Boosters that thought this year in FB was a under acheving season....Last year half way thru the hockey season..very few were supporting "our Hockey Coach of the Year",they were calling for his head?....Womens Volleyball finally made a regional 2 years ago,1st time in forever and now ,we want a new Coach?....Our Mens BBall is not as bad as the fans make it out to be, Our head coach will break most of Gunthers(Considered a LEGEND) Records this year, and people have wanted him gone for the last 5 years?..... I just hope we have the Patience and Financial Support of Boosters,Community,Alumni,while we struggle with transition...Because we will..Everyone Does... I too also visited with Rick Hartzel at UNI...While up at Mac's Game last year with Iowa State in Cedar Falls...and What "Siouxmenow" says is 100% correct....Hartzel... is in my opinion in the top 50 ad's in the country...I beleive he knows of what he Speaks....

Another example would be Northern Iowa...Moved to Div / Div 1AA..in around 1978... This was there 1st year they made it to the Natl Champ game in football... There BBAll teams went around 14-15 years inbetween conference titles..Mac got them there last 2 years...Lost in 1st Round on both I believe they have had some success in other sports as far as conference titles...few and far between... However...NO NATIONAL TITLES...in anything Just starting however to draw better crowds and attention the last couple of years...Alot of Patience? Its a tough Choice...Missouri Valley Conference...is a middle of road Div 1 B-Ball Conference...Lower for all other sports...

My Feeling is Yes and No.....In my Mind Div 1AA...is totally seperate...They Can Not compete with the True Div1...Like Michigan,Colorado,Texas,Notre Dame.... Anyway its all ones opinions....There are really only 25 Schools every year that have a true shot at a Division 1 Championship...in all sports Same way propably in Division II.... Instead of being a Force in The Regional and National Div II level..... When we move my feeling are we will just be Mediocre at best .500 will be a good year at the overall Div1 level But yes we will probably be able to compete for a Div1AA --Football title in time

yes football will have a chance in time..shorter then we probably think.....I did not include football because it will be 1AA....Not div 1....sorry..my fault

Just My Thoughts.... If and When we make the LEAP!....We will not be adding sports my friends..... Only Cutting for fiscial Responsibility.....Div 1 is Not CHEAP? Last Time I checked we have not been able to run in the Black in Athletics as we are? And That is with a 125 Million Dollar Donated Facility.....

I have said more than once I believe it would be a mistake for UND to leap into the Div 1 Arena....That being said... * If we go we must have a conference...To try and recreate the Old NCC would be most Logical...A conference of rival instituations that Travel up and Down off the I-29 Corridor.. For cost,efficency,and Rival reasons... * Do we Have the Funding... For the Non- Conference Scheduling Road Trips? * Will the fans have the Patience it will take to become successful...I have lived in GF for around 25 years in that time..Hockey,Football,Mens and Womens Basketball in over 100 seasons have had less the 10-15 of them below .500?...And our fans are still not happy all the time? * Make no Mistake..Hockey will be our only National Championship oppurtunities * We will be able to compete for Conference titles..but in all other sports NO NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS! A great season for us will be (After the Probation Period of 7-10 yrs) a 1st round Sacraficial Lamb in the big dance or tourney.. *I like the thought of the challenge to play better quailty oppontents, and Home Attendance should take care of itself... ..We will need the money , to help defray the addiontional costs.. * We need to make a decision this being on the fence , will eventually hurt all our recrcuitung... * I feel it was a HUGE OVERSIGHT! The last committee assigned did not Include the most Knowledgeable Person we have on our Staff......ROB BOLLINGER.....He understands the Past,Present, and Future Fundraising that it will take to Make or not Make this move... Just a few of my thoughts?

you would really have to hope that the coaching staffs could recruit a bigger,better,stronger more talented athlete to all programs...example in swimming.... a while back i had a young bartender work for me that was a 10 time all american swimmer at UND....his top time in the butterfly..would not quailfy him in the womens big 12 swim meet held that same year as his last year of competition...... it will not be about chasing national championships...div 1 will be about conference championships and a chance at the qualifing...big tourney......which im sorry to say i'm afraid we can not compete in.... just for the record...i just heard the other day that we will have around 200 days below freezeing....thats not a attractive climate, or area for the athlete we need....my thinking?

Can anyone tell me why Rob Bollinger is not on this committee...?Is there a more knowledgeable current person on our staff,that understands this issue,in regards to not only athletics but also financial fund raising,with the community and alumni....?....I feel a HUGE OVERSIGHT!

I totally agree...if you are going to struggle,I would much rather do it with area talent, they seem to fit better at our schools and in our community, we have had some great jr college kids, but for the most part, I do not feel they are worth the high risk of the Bad Apples that have not fit in.... Rico, Bo Powell,Frank Iverson,Jerome,(Hunter Berg doesn't count) in recent memory over the last 15-20 years have been the ones that have been good for the program......

1678 official attendance...looked empty...lt col bunning was there...ive seen him at a few games,at the betty,sat with him at crookston women on tue nite....not as active as fb however

Why shouldn't it happen?...There were maybe 4 elitle arenas for recruiting in the NCC...But places like Augie, and Morningside were like HS Gyms...They have the resources now in The NISC...Not only for Scholarships but are upgrading there Faclities as well...With the loss of the SU's I think it will be hard to ever dominate in BBAll like we have in FB...Agreed "Coaching" is a big Part Look what Mac did at Wayne a few years back was unbelieveable......

Crookston did not remember the last time they played the sioux and The Sioux did remember!..Thats what the paper will say tommorow..The Ladies played hard but were not sharp...Shot the ball as poorly as I have seen,Free throws,threes,bunnies all misses...actually shot 22.9%in 2nd half..over all game 20 % from 3 land..they won and that is the bottom line, but they know it was not there best effort, I never felt in the flow of game however we were going to lose..Sioux did what they had to when they had to...
