  1. So, let me get this right.... We play a heated conference game, smack is talked all game long. Blood and Finley just happen to drag a random Gopher out of the handshake line. Yeah... You have to be kidding me? You can believe what you're shoveling?

Watch the replay again of the handshake, as soon as Blood and Rau shook hands Blood immediately yanked him out of the line. If Rau said something to Blood during the handshake he must be the fasted talker of all time. Like I said before, Blood pulled Rau out of the line because Rau chirped at him During the game. If Blood had a problem with that then settle it DURING the game. We can go back and forth on this all day but unless you or me or anybody else was next to Rau, Blood, Wheeler or Finley in the line we will never know what really happened.

  2. He who lives in a glass house shouldn't throw stones. Or maybe you need to take a deeper look at yourself before you come in here and throw a bunch of accusations around. This is a UND hockey forum. Not Gopher Puck Live. Seriously, can't handle the truth? I know some of you Gopher fans always try to paint your team as the golden boys that can do no wrong. Nothing I said there is untrue. Do you have to always be an uber, condescending, pompous d-bag? Like I said before, there were words exchange on the ice. I got this from two very reliable people.

I can also play this game Goon, I heard from reliable people ( family members ) that no words were exchanged in the handshake line. It had to do with some smack talking that occurred DURING the game.

  3. UND fans, Without proof, are going to say Wheeler mouthed off in the handshake line, Gopher fans ,Without Proof, are going to say he didn't mouth off in the handshake line. So, unless someone has audio of Wheeler mouthing off it's going to be a he said - she said. Who knows why Finley pulled him out of the line, maybe something was said during the game or something else led up to this, most likely will never know. In the end it was an ugly incident that should never have happened.

  4. Both handshake line brawls were a result of the Gopher hockey player running his mouth both times after the game was over. Gee, I wonder if there is a direct correlation?

Do you have audio of this? I'm sure your reply will be " I know of a guy who was on the ice and heard the Gophers running their mouth". Well, I know a guy also and said no such thing happened.

  5. As long as we win a medal, I don't care who the coach is. This is nation vs. nation; for two weeks all the bitter rivalries are set aside.

Very much agree with this post. However, will other people agree. Will rival fan bases of Minnesota cheer against the USA because Lucia is the coach or will they Cheer for USA because it is our nation. I seem to remember some posters here were happy when Toews scored on Frazee and could care less about the nation vs nation. I know Toews played for UND and Frazee played for Minnesota but at that game it was Canada vs USA.

  6. Fighting Sioux flag on the balcony hell ya!

    But nobody around it. WTH.

I heard the two UND flags on the two balcony's was staged. A security guard outside the apartment building told us that ESPN staff members asked permission of the occupants of the apartment room if they could hang the flags on their balcony to get the crowd riled up. That is why when cameras showed a shot of the flags on the big screen screen and the announcers made reference to the crowd about the flags the crowd got all stirred up. The reason why nobody was around the flags was because the apartment room was filled with NDSU fans and every time they came out on the balcony they were getting screamed at to take it down, so the people quit coming out on the balcony because of all the crap they were getting by the crowd.

  7. I don't care if it's common knowledge or not, no matter what the circumstance, I doubt you'd ever hear Dave Hakstol make a quote like Lucia did. Just another example of why players will skate through a cement wall for Hak and Lucia's players won't skate through a paper wall for him.

 I needed a laugh today thanks!

And I don't know about skating through cement or paper walls but I do know that Lucia's players skated hard enough to put a couple rings on his fingers.

Ouch Rick, Mariucci just put you in a box with the rings comeback.

  8. BSU's Pre Sale is for BSU Season Ticket Holders only. The general public gets their shot at tickets on Saturday, September 21, I believe.

Wouldn't non Bemidji State ticket holders be able buy tickets today if they knew the code. I can't see how ticketmaster would know if you are a BSU season ticket holder or not.

  9. Besides Professional sports, cities like Fargo, Grand Forks, St.Cloud, etc have pretty much the same activiies that Minneapolis has, just not the quantity. If you would move these cities to Minneapolis / St. Paul they would be your typical suberb there. People in the twin cities don't realize that if Fargo was 75ft to the east (approx. width of the red river) it would be in Minnesota thus making it the 3rd largest city in the state.

  10. The highest level of college hockey is Division I

The highest level of college football is FBS.

Facts. The University of Agriculture, Applied Sciences and Home Economics has never won a chamionship at the highest level of college sports. UND has done so 7 times.

These are facts that are hard for Home Ec Tech folks to comprehend. But, after all, what should one expect?

Since you like to use the word fact so much, here is a fact: In sports that both schools compete in NDSU has won 22 National Championships compared to 4 National Championships that UND has. Even if you include the 7 titles UND'S hockey team has ( a sport NDSU doesn't even have) NDSU still has 11 more National titles than UND has. Not too bad for a Agriculure, Applied Sciences and Home EC school.

  11. _cup600.jpg

    7>0

Nuff said... (Unless you're a grad of Home Ec Tech...)

    22>4

Nuff said (22 National tiles for NDSU versus 4 National titles for UND in sports that the two schools compete in).

And yes Hayduke, the 7 National titles the UND hockey team is a great accomplishment.

  12. Division II

    Football Championship SUBDIVISION

I believe that the athletes that compete for these championships are smart enough to know what level they are playing.

Just because you aren't is not my fault.

Hayduke, First of all, nice personal attack :silly:. Secondly, I'm the one who is defending athletes who compete in their sports and the division they play in, you however are dissing the athletes that don't play in the highest level of a sport the school offers (hockey). I like how you did not answer the question on asking the non hockey athletes that their current Championships or future championships don't matter beacuse they were won in a sport that is not at the highest level.

  13. 7>0.

National championships at the highest level of college athletics.

Now, get busy making those brownies. Or sewing. Or raising bail for your "student" athletes. Or whatever else it is that you do at the University of Agriculture and Applied Sciences.

Would you tell UND'S football team or the Women Basketball team or any non hockey sport at UND that their current Championships they have won or future Championships they might win don't/won't matter because it wasn't won at the highest level. If you do tell them please let me know because I would love to see what they have to say.

  14. Now 11,000 show up for a UND exhibition game.

11,000 show up now because they are winning. History shows (early 90's) if they have some bad years the fans stay away. Like I said, Grand Forks, Fargo, Mpls, Chicago, Boston, and every other city are fair weather towns. Chicago is a good example. In the middle 2000's the Blackhawks were playing to half empty stadium crowds because they were not a good team but now since the team is winning the place is packed.

  15. I was once told by a high ranking Teammakers officer, "Fargo is a frontrunner town. When you win you don't have enough seats, when you lose you have twice as many as you need."

As for Fargo being a frontrunner town, they are no different than any other city. When you win people show up, when you lose people don't. I remember going to UND hockey games in the early 90's and their was maybe 3,000 people at the games which made the arena half full.

  16. Give me a break.

UND athletes aren't delusional. They get to play at their level and get a good education in the process.

In the meantime, at the University of Agriculture and Applied Sciences, they elect to ignore reality and prop up a rogue athletic department.

Out of curiousity how many overall National titles in all sports does UND have?

  17. He probably didn't realize that.

You see, down at the Univeristy of Agriculture and Applied Sciences, they don't win NCAA Championships at the highest level of competition.

You might want to ask the Athletes at UND ( except the hockey players) if they feel the same way you do about not winning Championships at the highest level considering every sport at UND (except hockey) plays at the same level as NDSU.

  18. Maybe he just meant they're hated by damn near everyone, as are the Yankees?

Patrick Reusse was the sports writer that referred to the Gophers as the "New York Yankees of college hockey" What he said he meant by that was either you like the Gophers or you hate the Gophers just like people feel about the Yankees.
