Chorney just got burned bad, which lead to DU scoring chance.

Denver takes a roughing penalty. 4 on 4 again. Thanks Denver!
-
Sioux shorthanded for a little under 3 minutes.
-
Always get a good showing of Sioux fans in Colorado.

Toews puts it right in the peanut butter shelf baby! Nice shot!
-
Toews!!!!!!!!!!! 1-0
-
DU take holding the stick call. 4 on 4.
-
That was a check on the side!!!! Fabian gone. What a bunch of crap!
-
Penalty on Fabian for a weak hit on Cook. They're going to call this one tight.

Since Dahl left SCCC, Georgie has become the coach I hate the most, though Donnie L. runs a close second.

I noticed that too. They must be stuck on the geometric thing.

Robbie on "This week in the WCHA." Sounds pretty excited to be cleared to play. I can only imagine how excited he has to be, and can't way to see him wear a Sioux uniform again.

Gwozdecky Pre-game comments: In regards to ND, you know the young freshman are going to come along. They will continue to play and learn. Feel the freshman at ND have played well as of late. They've gained a lot of experience. McNaughton race, don't see anyone really challenging Minnesota. Due to Minnesota playing so well right now, along with the lead they have, and the schedule they have the next two weekends. Be really surprised if they turn it over. However, thought the same thing about Wisconsin a month and a half ago. This weekend, the importance is to stay in one of the top 3 positions. Important in national pairwise rankings. Both teams want home ice for playoffs. X Factor. DU has a great PP. ND has a great goaltender. Something has to give. Was the difference last weekend vs. Minnesota. Expect it to be a normal Sioux/DU game. Very physical at times. Special teams are critical.

Hak Pre-game comments: Sioux will be ready to play tonight. Consistency is coming. Seeing in practice, and starting to see it in games. Guys need to step up their performance a little more every night. Feel good that we'll play well tonight. Guys are focused, and know we need to play well. No match-up tonight as far as lines go. Won't be concerned with whose playing against who. Important to role 4 lines tonight, and keep the game 5 on 5. DU PP is potent. Don't want to, and don't want to change our style of play. Should be okay if we have to kill 4 or 5 penalties in a game. Trouble begins when it's in the 7 and 8 PP range. Sparky had a good weekend last weekend. Needs to be on the scorecard. JPar will be in net tonight. Two real good performances last weekend.

Pregame show about to start. Go Sioux!

Similar to your experience, I never attended a football or basketball game, or any other Sioux sport for that matter, yet rarely missed a hockey game. Growing up in SoDak, people asked me why I chose UND. They ask about their education program (as I'm a teacher), and I commented that it was a pretty good education program, but the real reason I chose UND was because they have hockey. Of course, the next question I'm always asked was, "Did you play?" My response is always, "Nope, just a fan!", which always gets a pretty funny look from people. So yes, I chose my higher education institute because of their hockey team, and a fine choice it was!!!! Go Sioux!

My personal favorite was, "Team USA has played well other than the five goal they let in."
-
Precisely Madonna, which is why you were benched in the 3rd period...so the new blood who want to be there could play.
-
I do think Leetch would have been a lot better choice than Hatcher, but I think Martin would have been the best choice. IMO, Hatcher is too big and too old for the Olympic style of play, which would explain why he looked slow on his feet (as he was slow on his feet).

As much as I want to see Robbie back on the ice, I hope he does decide to wait until next season. It's a tough time to jump in and start playing games, especially when you haven't skated in an actual game for the past 11 months. However, it sounds like great news for Robbie and Sioux fans.
-
I agree that Chelios did play pretty well compared to the other older players. Don't necessarily think Leetch should have been on this team either though. He's at the latter stage of his career too, and not playing like he used to. I think Paul Martin would have been a lot better choice than Derian Hatcher though.

This is why we need to get rid of the high-priced "superstars" on Team USA. Get the guys who have heart, and want to play to win for their country. We don't need players like Madonna or Roenick on this team, as life is all about their pocketbooks. IMO, guys like Gionta, Parise, Leopold, Miller, and the Eaves brothers are perfect for Olympic teams. If their heads start to get big, get rid of them as well. Get guys in their who realize that this is a team sport, and if you don't play as a team, or think about numero uno, your team will go no where. Another disgraceful Olympic showing for Team USA. Fire the idiots who put this team together, and get someone in there who has an idea about international hockey, and the players who will play their hearts out on the ice, and not complain about living accommodations they have while doing so.

I couldn't agree more. If something were going to happen with Paukovich, it should've happened earlier in the season when the two teams met. Where the hit will never be forgotten by Sioux fans, especially when Paukovich is still playing for DU, the Sioux need to think about what's best for the team. Heck, if revenge on Paukovich would get this team revved up for the playoffs, than do it. But, IMO the Sioux need to focus on the game, and keep all their guys in the game.

Probably because DiPietro had played so much prior to this. Didn't he play in the last 3 games? That's a lot for a goalie to play in this tournament. If the game doesn't matter, why not rest your starting goaltender, so he can be more fresh for when the games do count?

I said the same thing. I was in school the entire time Karl was there, and he always went down on his knees in the crease and made the poke check, with the exception of that time, where he dove out for the poke check. That one play still haunts my dreams, as I'm sure many other Sioux fans.
