Underway! Let's go Sioux!
-
Duncan being pretty modest on his interview with TH. You're the MAN Dunc! Keep it up!
-
Those darn Canadians! Helping our team win! How dare they!
-
I agree with one game at a time. Where I'd love to see two wins in CO this weekend, I'll be happy if we get one. A tough team on the road, while still missing 3 important members of the team, while CC's missing 1.
-
I thought it was going to be worse than last time with the way they started! Great rebound to grab the bronze. Could have very well been playing for the gold, so I can't complain with the way the boys played the second half of the tournament. I think Chorney would be a strong candidate to wear the C next year. Let's hope Edmonton holds off one more year on signing him!
-
Sad for Sioux fans but great for JT! Great tournament for Toews. Can't really argue with Price getting MVP. What did he have, 3 shutouts in the preliminary round and 6 goals allowed for the tournament? He played great. If the US doesn't win the gold, glad to see it go to another North American country.
-
Great news for Phil. Sounds like we'll see him back in the NHL very shortly. Great to see him making such a quick recovery.
-
Erik Johnson has really turned his play around in this tournament. At the beginning, he was playing selfish hockey, and trying to do too much. Now he's using his teammates a lot more, and he's becoming a lot more productive as we just saw.
-
But it was close to Canada and all the Canadians made there way over the border. Okay, those fanatics probably would have traveled to Texas!
-
Parise nearly got his first NHL hat trick, but hit the post in the 3rd period. Zach's now tied for his point total from last year, and has 2 more goals than what he had last year, with a lot of season to go. No sophomore slump here, but as Zach said earlier in the year, 'I can't have a sophomore slump because I didn't have that great of a rookie season.'
-
No indication at this point that this game will be shown. The US/Sweden is on the Center Ice schedule, but Canada/Russia is not.

Thanks AZSioux. First time I saw the shootout. Disappointed with Kane's first shot. The entire tournament, he's gone top shelf on goalies, with the most impressive coming when he stickhandled all the way into the goalie with about 5 inches between him and the goalie, when he puts it up high. Didn't look like he even tried to go high, but rather sneak it by Price's right pad. Oh well, that's hockey. Toews did great, and definitely had a sniper of a shot going on.
-
It was the same thing with Parise. He was mobbed his entire 2nd year, yet still found ways to show up on the scoresheet. However, at the end of the year, there was no reason for him to come back, simply to put up with the same crap. Like I said, in my heart, I know they're most likely gone, but I can still hope.
-
I didn't think the US was that terrible against Germany. It wasn't there best game by any means, and they're playing a lot more as a team right now than they ever did in the preliminary round. I still blame Stoa for missing the open net! That would have changed that entire game around.

I really think Toews would benefit from one more year in college. Not just saying that because I'm a Sioux fan. Last year, Toews didn't really do anything in the WJC tournament. This year, he's come through in clutch moments, but hasn't dominated the tournament. He's only 18. He's not in Crosby or Ovechkin's class so it's hard to say how successful a jump next year would be. I think he will have a successful NHL career, just hope he doesn't make the jump too early. Joe Thorton went when he was 19 and struggled big time for the first 2 years. I do think JT really loves playing for his country, and I'm hoping it lures him back here for one more year. That would be one more year of education for him too, which I think he wants. In my heart, I still don't think he'll say, but I do hope it!

I'm pretty sure the new rules state that if it's tied after regulation, they go to a 10 minute 4 on 4 OT followed by a shootout. The final game would be a 20 minute 4 on 4 OT followed by a shootout.

Skill wise, the US may be better than Canada, but each of the guys on Canada knows how to play their roles, and are willing to do that. The interesting thing to see, which we probably won't see, would be to see how Canada would react if they were to get down early. We already know that the US abandons game plan and plays as individuals, but it would be interesting to see if Canada's boys were able to keep their composure if they were to get down. I expect the U.S. to be competitive for the first 2 periods, but the quick turnaround game will most likely play a big difference in this game. The US played as a team today, which is what they need to do tomorrow, regardless if Canada takes the early lead. Can't play selfish or dumb hockey at any point in order to have a chance at the win. Go USA!

Zach Parise scores a shootout goal tonight, but the Devils lose to the Rangers. Zajac was stoned, which resulted in the end of the game. Shootout went 8 rounds though, so it was a fun one to watch.

You're just remembering back to finer moments in life! Here's an odd-looking box summary. Box Summary

This is all I could find thus far. It's only up until the end of the 2nd, but I'm assuming the full game will be posted shorlty. Game Summary

The US played a lot better as a team today. One thing I didn't here, which was a first for this tournament, was the defenseman jumping into offensive play, at the wrong time, resulting in odd-man rushes for the Fins. That was a problem in all 4 preliminary round games. The defensemen were still able to score, but they gave up some costly goals doing this earlier in the tournament. Hopefully, they don't derail against the Candians if they get down, and try to do too much.
-
Just read that US will be the home team in tomorrow's game. According to IHF rules, if two teams meet twice in a tournament, the team who was the home team in the first game, will be the visiting team in the 2nd game, regardless of records. Therefore, US will have last line change in tomorrow's game. A small advantage, but we'll take anything we can get!
-
That's correct. They'll at least play for the bronze.
-
I'm sure I'll have to sit through inservice meetings all day, so I doubt I'll even be able to watch it on broadband. I'll tape it off of NHL Center Ice though.

Wonder if I can call in sick my first day back after holiday break?? I've only been off for 2 weeks, what's one more day?
