  1. Parise leads the team in hits for the playoffs (11), shots and goals. Zach is playing his best hockey when it counts. Where Gomez did score the game winner on a very nice shot, I've thought he's passed up a lot of good chances to try to make a pass, or just made a bad play for the majority of the series. Hopefully, all of the players can step up and play harder, so I don't have to sit through these darn nail-biters! I enjoy OT games in the playoffs, just not the Devils.
  2. Resch on Lecavalier getting hit by the puck rather than Madden's stick, "Oh good, it was the puck, not that I'm rooting for the Devils." Okay Chico, you've only been the color man for how many years now and you're not rooting for the Devils?
  3. I don't recall which Lightning player hit Lukowich, but I don't believe it was St. Louis. Outside of the Parise high stick, I haven't really thought St. Louis has played too cheap. Chippy, playoff hockey, and very frustrating for this Devils fan, but as a fan in general, I think he's played the kind of hockey that needs to be played.
  4. He's had about 4 chances now to get the hat trick. He just continues to find ways to get open in front of the net. That's what hard work does. I just wish the other Devils would pick up on it. They've picked it up the last 2 minutes, but don't expect it to continue.
  5. St. Louis was the one who caught Parise in the throat in Game 3, and no call was made. That was the one I went nuts about because the ref was standing right in front of him.
  6. Yes, but it's playoff hockey. That's what I expect to see. It's all about doing whatever it takes to help your team advance. It's what the Devils haven't been doing a whole heck of a lot of. Even their color guy, Chico Resch, commented that the Devils have to start playing "dirtier" hockey, as it is the playoffs.
  7. Parise's 6 goals in a 7 game series is a Devils record. That's what you get with a defensive team.
  8. Somehow, I can visualize that very well.
  9. He's been all over the ice again tonight. He's making the rest of the Devils' effort look pathetic.
  10. Parise puts in his 6th now! Deflection goal.
  11. Blake scores for the Islanders.
  12. Parise puts in his 5th of the playoffs!
  13. Chico Resch giving ZPar props before the game stating that he's been "by far the best Devil on the ice shift after shift." Let's hope for another great game for Zach!
  14. Don't know if I would classify it as a nice goal, but you had it right with lucky! All he was trying to do was feather a pass to Zajac.
  15. Parise puts in his 4th of the playoffs on a weird deflection goal.
  16. I saw the live version and the replay. That's the 2nd time it's happened to the Devils in as many games. With the one that happened to Lukowich in the last game, the ref wasn't in position to see it, but with Zach's the ref was standing right in front of him. They have two refs and two linesman, but can't see these things. Pathetic.
  17. Her blog states that she's 17 years old. Don't think so Christie! Still a babe though.
  18. "Gee honey, let me think about that one for a while."
  19. I've been watching hockey since the '70's, and unless I've had a memory lapse, instigating fights has been part of the game. Broadstreet Bullies loved to do it.
  20. That's intent to injure, not policing the game. I can understand people not wanting players to fight in hockey. Parents don't want their kids to be exposed to it. However, I watched it all the time as a kid and didn't go out and get in fights. You can see a heck of a lot more violence on cable television than what you'll see in a hockey game. As a teacher, I see how well parents are controlling what their kids watch. I would guesstimate that approximately 10-15% of parents truly monitor what their kids are watching on TV/Internet. Some parents think they know what their kids are watching, while some parents simply could care less about what their kids are watching. Back to fights in hockey, fighting has unwritten rules, and from everything I read or hear, players adhere to those unwritten rules. Fighting is allowed in the NHL. Players agree to drop their gloves. When they do that, they're well aware that an injury could come about because of it. What Simon should have done is dropped his gloves with Holweger. I'm sure Holweger would have complied, and appreciated it much more than the stick into the chin/neck area. Will there be repercussion's for Simon because of what he did? It's a very good possibility. When Simon comes back, I'm sure he'll be expecting it, especially his first game against the Rangers. If the refs are suppose to police every aspect of the game, why is fighting allowed with a 5 minute penalty? It's a way for the tough guys to get out their emotions, which if it wasn't allowed, may result in more Chris Simon type incidents. I'm sure that would help our sport out.
  21. Okay, but the game of hockey has always been a rough game. Back when I started watching it, it was a lot rougher than what it is today. I'm sure it was when you started watching it as well. So why were you attracted to the game if it was too rough for you? Back in the '70's, a hit like the one on Cheechoo would have resulted a fight or multiple fights immediately. That one event would have heated up the entire season to the point where it would make it a crazy, but fun series to watch. Game 2 would have been a lot more physical than Sharks/Preds Game 2. The outbursts from Simon, McSorley, and Brasheer need to be eliminated from the game; this other stuff is all part of the long tradition of ice hockey. If it's too discomforting for you, than perhaps you should be watching figure skating or golf, as Goon suggested.
  22. Parise puts in his 3rd of the playoffs in tonight's Devils/Lightning game.
  23. I guess I saw it as playoff hockey. The Sharks went after Hartnall due to the knee to knee hit he had on Cheechoo in Game 1. They chose to do it towards the end of the game, after it was evident that the Predators would win. Hartnall stated before the game that he wouldn't be surprised if it happened. It's players policing the game. The playoffs bring out a lot of emotion. It's not a one and done thing, so emotions carry over to each new game. That's what makes the playoffs more exciting.
  24. Duncan and Chorney had already announced their return. A couple means more than one, so Oshie announced, which leaves Lee as a returnee. As much as I'd love to see JT back, I don't see Lee leaving and Johnny staying, but stranger things have happened I guess.
  25. The major satellite providers only air some of the game. The best route to take is to invest in the independent satellite and get all the home games via that. Iceberg is pretty knowledgeable about that, and there's another thread designated just for that source.
