  1. I believe many UND fans feel Augie is beneath the Summit that most don’t seem to have a high regard for anyway. USD on the other hand realizes Augie is a real challenge for them, if not an existential threat. They use the Augie profile argument to cover the fact they feel there isn’t enough room for another SD school. Augie is in better shape now than 30 years ago when they were also the smallest. If they have the money let them in I see Augie as I always saw Augie. They are a charter member. The others are St. Thomas, NDSU, SDSU, USD &UNI. There are six solid members, 7 with UMKC that will stabilize the Summit for a long time to come keep it regional for the fans provide great competition Augie and St. Thomas could be 2 Summit non scholarship football teams. There are other likely suspects in the league too. It looks like it’s turning out the Summit is the NCC 2. Our past is our future. We have no place else to go.
  2. Augies not in the Summit unless they get enough presidents on board. So far there has been an orderly change of Summit membership. I dont know if Augie is included in future plans to replace a departing member but its very possible Augie may be the last hope. Of course the South Dakota Schools, especially USD, are concerned about splitting the pie. USD is the weak sister and if the pie can't grow would certrainly be hurt the most. It could be viewed just as much of an extistential crises for the Summit as it is for USD. Augie may find them a perfect D1 foil. The games in Sioux Falls would be huge. They may both end up needing each other to survive. The funny thing is Augie is already competing with those schools for players, corporate dollars and fans. Augie has a presence in Sioux Falls and USD is probably a bit worried about their ability to compete if Augie improves their profile. SDSU and NDSU will be just fine. Both have footprints far greater than the sourrounding communities. Both have the potential to move on and both are key to the Summit and MVFC futures. Of course its the UxDs that have the biggest worry. All of the Dakota schools would trade some ridiculous out of conference guarantee home game of little or no interest for a profitable conference game within easy distance of all fans. Augie is a founding member of the old NCC just like St. Thomas, NDSU, SDSU, UND, USD, and UNI. They belong. They bring baseball, but that probably won't sooth the huge egos that think Augie is beneath them or quiet the fear some are expressing. If they are ready take them in.

    2019 Season

You should go over there then. The post was about UND and how they compare to the best. Instead of resentment it should be inspiring ambition. Ambition to be better, to give more, to contribute somehow to help UND overcome the shortcomings that are obviously apparent. Bro you need a positive pro-UND attitude, not a negative anti-NDSU Bison attitude. What does UND have to overcome the deficits? That's what the post was about, not the Bison. Please carry one.
  4. No! What GAM Headquarters is saying it's UND -9. If UND doesnt handle this team easily it will be a short season begining at the Fabulous Fargo Dome the following week. UND could be on the sidelines by Oct but still mathematically eligible for the playoffs. Thats twice if you need it explained a third time please PM me.
  5. This looks like a great game. We have UND -9. O/U: 43 Mythical score: 26-17 Last season the Hawks were a force beating 2 out of 3 teams ranked at game time. They won most of their games decisevely and the losses were mostly close. There are significant losses but there is enough remaining especially on defense to be optimistic its next man up. Drake had problems with the stonger teams and lost decisively to Montana. People are certain to be looking at the comparative scores: UND 41 Montana 14; Drake 16 Montana 48. That game was early. Drake did much better later in a losing effort to San Diego and only lost to Iowa State by 3. There is upset potential for Drake. Its UND -11.5 on 5dimes and -9 and GAM Headquarters. There is also route potential for the Hawks. That is what the UND fans are looking for if there is going to be optimism going into what is a tough stretch of games starting at the Fabulous Fargo Dome.
  6. To have a great football team a university needs a great college of football. Advantages would include the programs funding, history and traditions. National presence with a pipeline into the NFL. History of great coaching and winning. Facilities including stadium. Talent already on the team. Fan support and status of sport on campus and in community. Communities social opportunities. Schedule. From there things like educational opportunities etc might help an athlete distinguish between their top choices.
  7. As of yesterday UND was an 11.5 pt favorite on 5dimes.

No, cost/victory is an overall measure of efficiency regarding cost of success. It's too granular to tell anything about why the efficiency is what it is but it does tell you how efficient the program is at delivering success. At $1.5 mill/victory success is expensive at UND when compared to NDSU's $377,000 or so. Of course Alabama finds itself in the same position as NDSU. Cost/victory is low when compared to their peers that are spending as much as they can to be competitive too. Im going to predict a cost/victory of say $545,000 for the Bison and $1 million for UND in the 2019 season. Im taking the under on the Herd and the over on the Hawks. The Bison will probably out-spend the Hawks by at least 1 million in 2019, as they usually do, but will deliver a lot more victories at a far cheaper cost/victory. That's the way it goes for schools that are good at football. Ps. Just for comparison based on Median FCS spending and a .500 season cost/victory was $679,690.

    2019 Season

I went to a UND game once. A few UND guys wearing fraternity jackets and Sioux gear were helping one of their pals out that was not in good shape when he stopped to throw up. One of the guys said “it’s ok. Just bad coffee.” Some UND fans are still saying that and sound like whining losers sound. Face it “bad coffee” is another UND meme like “the moral victory” and "toe-to-toe". Not sure about the Bison QB. Doesn’t really matter. Several QBs in the MVFC contributed more yards to their teams than Stick. There is more than enough QB talent to unleash all the offensive weapons on that team. It wont be an easy game to win if the Hawks cant get a first down until the 4th qtr. again.

That’s partially true. We gave up our TM tickets in 2012 when we left Fargo. Haven’t been back since. Too bad too, they were in the $600+ section Budgets aren’t everything it’s how the money is spent. NDSU does an outstanding job on that. They are very good at football.

    2019 Season

Most recent data I have on football spending is 2017. UND spent $4,464,097. Cost/victory about $1.5 Million Dollars NDSU spent $5,281,392. Cost/victory about $377,000 including a National Championship. This is pure football elegance and beauty. NDSU is very good at football Wyoming spent $10,495,612. Cost/victory about $1.32 Million Alabama Crimson Tide spent about $62.252 Million $4.789 Million/victory and a National Championship. http://cafidatabase.knightcommission.org/fcs/university-of-north-dakota#!quicktabs-tab-institution_data-2

    2019 Season

Last Bison game I went to was in Iowa City. Next one will be in Oregon. I like Cedar Falls games. These kinds of games are for the little people. The football-loving hoi palloi. The Fabulous Fargo Dome is always sold out. The only reason this is a big ticket is because UND fans want in. The prices are laughably high. Nobody From Fargo is buying. They are selling. The UND roster has not been upgraded much, if at all, this off season and you have, for better or worse, a new OC that’s wet behind the ears but was once a star for the Hawks at QB. Currently Sagarin has NDSU #19 in the country. Their roster is loaded. They have a new head coach that was DC on last years national champions with a long track record of success. They also have a new OC direct from a successful program at Indiana State and an enviable Bison pedigree as a player. Budgets for the 2 schools are very similar. NDSU just gets a lot of bang for their football buck. On that basis they are very good at football. Among the best.

your not inside the 40s either. Like the author said any price is the right price. each sale drives the prices higher. Just saw this on FCS.
  14. I am sure it is simply showing how it is.

    2019 Season

This was just posted over at FCS:
  16. If UND wasn’t kicked out of the big sky why did they bother to join the “pathetic” Summit? i see SHSU is no longer a top 25 team but remains in the top 30, just as good as a decent D2.. They were always a paper tiger. Look at their record in FCS championship games. I don’t think anybody in the new FBS league being talked about should ever play them but for now it’s the big time. Since UND received 1 vote in the group of schools also receiving votes this game could qualify as another UND Super Bowl! That would be great considering the biggest game in UND football history, UNDs Super Bowl in Fargo, is also played this year. Two big games like that spells FBS for sure Traffic will be heavy around the FFD for that game so be sure to brush up on traffic light rules. Make sure your equipment trailer lights are working too. They are real sticklers about that. Lots of unsophisticated country people coming in. Should be an amazing time for your kids stepping onto one of the nations most revered and prestigious football fields, in the States largest football venue in North Dakota’s largest city! What an experience for the kids from Grand Forks! Good luck! Great exposure for the new FBS league too! What a thrill for your fans and team. Will there be an NCAA delegation there scouting the new FBS league? I heard SV says the leagues a sure thing.
  17. That post is truly unfortunate. If you are around SV be careful and have an exit plan in case he opens fire.
  18. You are probably right but nobody ever calls the guy on his habit of calling names and the moderators never intervene so I guess I got the impression the community approved of the behavior. BV banned Lakes. That gave the impression the community did not support his behavior.
  19. Why is this Sioux volley person constantly insulting people? It is impossible to prove an argument by calling others name, especially an argument that has failed like his. Is that person a grown adult and graduate of UND and is his disagreeable persona typical of people from UND? If so I’m truly sorry about the state of higher education in grand forks and no longer confused about unds reputation.
