You don’t overlook any team. Not sure how that correlates to thinking they are average. You think they are above average?

Actually, I do. They’re on the rise after several substandard seasons. I believe they are being built from the ground up against very tough competition in the best league in the country. The organization is just 20 or so years old. Are they UND? UMD? DU? No. But they are definitely closing on SCSU and WMU.

omaha is very average...we allowed them to take us off our game.  I see it in youth hockey when particular teams give great teams fits and force them to degenerate off their game.  We didn't play the way we can.  Omaha capitalized on its opportunities. I'll give them that.  Not impressed by them at all though.

    They beat:

    Duluth

    St Cloud

    Denver

    Western

i think overlooking them is a mistake.

  3. So reading the board tonight I feel that my posts earlier today hold merit. Play is talented but the box is an issue. Calls in question went both ways. We have an issue with aggressiveness that goes beyond the rule book, no purposely, just dumb. Did omaha take us off our game? Isn’t that the point?

  4. No, no troll. Not from Omaha. Just a differing view. You may believe my opinions don’t fit you green glassed view, but they are based on my experience in the sport and my ability to see past a play, a game, a season. Ok, I fold... fire Barry, Mishmash sucks, give Thome the net, and the pandemic was a UMD conspiracy to rob us of our 2020 championship. In collusion with Denver and Michigan... and, we play the cleanest hockey in the NCAA. :silly:

What about Caufield getting cross checked in the head when he was on the ice? That crap is a 5 and a game and it was not called. We definitely played undisciplined but the refs blew some calls. All I ask is that the calls go both ways and that didn't happen last night.

But no different a reaction than Scheels blow to the head on 45.

Saville got run twice? You are either blind or dumb.

    Senden’s goal qualifies...

73.2 Penalty - If, in the opinion of the official, an attacking player initiates contact that physically prevents the goalkeeper from defending the goal, the attacking player may receive a penalty. This penalty may be enforced whether or not the goalkeeper is inside or outside the goal crease and whether or not a goal is scored. The referee should give significant consideration to the degree and nature of the contact with the goalkeeper rather than to the exact location of the goalkeeper at the time of the contact.
If an attacking player establishes position in the goal crease, and is physically or visually screening the goalkeeper and impairing the ability to defend the goal, and a goal is scored, the goal will be disallowed.

What color Omaha jersey will you be wearing tonight?

My brother is a Gopher fan and even he commented how bad the officiating was in favor of Omaha last night. The 5 to start the game was weak but if you want to call it whatever but then be consistent as Omaha had 2 very similar hits and didn't get called for any penalty on either play.

My posts are in reaction to the childish behavior on this board. They are neither anti-Hawk, nor pro-Mav. The NCHC has had an issue of this type for years. Pro UND, anti UND. THE SAME CAN BE SAID FOR EVERY TEAM EXCEPT UMD!

What does that tool need to whine about? Refs had the game teed up for him.

*We do need to be more disciplined because it will eventually cost us, but it doesn't change the fact that the reffing was atrocious.

Well, not sure I would align with that description, but you’re right about discipline. The boys take unnecessary risk on some of their physical play. The hit on JT was targeting an I saw it coming by the body position taken. Stick high for balance, leading the the elbow, vulnerable player. That was the worst I have seen in weeks. Yeah, yeah, everybody pile on. He left, deserted our team. The kid did the right thing, we ought to celebrate losing a kid of his skill because he couldn’t crack the line up...

  9. More bitching. More whining. Watching the game, “bad reffing” was evenly distributed. Both 5’s were rulebook. The first of which could have been a game but wasn’t. We got several PP’s that could have been ignored but weren’t. And the Mavs pressure was killed due to a whistle for a down zebra. Saville got run twice, and we all know how WE reacted when the same was done to ours by others. We tend to defend this as part of the game until...

  10. It’s funny I guess, all the bitching and whining with regards to the game. I watched Gabinet’s post game and he seemed to focus on his teams emotion and execution. No whining, no bitching, just a professional evaluation of his teams performance. Yes, he’s a passionate advocate for his team, but if you want bitching and moaning just read through the above...

Nobody needs to overthink this! UNO is a solid team and it will take a solid response.

UND is a solid team and if they play to their potential, they will win.

If we play any less than our potential, we lose.

    Simple.

Well said. There isn’t much distance between the teams which is surprising based on our steady stream of blue chips. UNO has done wonders in rebuilding with transfers and rookies. Not dominant yet, but 2 or 3 years down the same path may surprise everyone.

Was that Abate with a late swipe at Scheel’s mitts after he’d covered the puck?

Scheel should have gotten 2 if not more. The rule book is pretty specific. I didn’t see a slash, Abate only had one hand on his stick and his arms up. It want a slash, he was playing the rebound.

UNO is a good, solid hockey team. When they take an early lead, they are formidable. When they are playing makeup hockey, they are not at their best. They will undoubtedly get better at that. This was a great on the road win for the Fighting xxxxxxx

Agree. If Pinto doesn’t get the soft goal and Omaha had gone up 2, very different game. Our third goal was kinda greasy and it definitely changed the game. All the chirping will turn into Thome’s net and fire Berry if tomorrow night turns out different. The Mavs have shown to come back strong after a loss, and tonight they showed a lot a comeback. 2 posts and a crossbar go in and boom, we’re chasing. Forget the last 2 goals, didn’t mean a thing...

Omaha’s a weird team. Remember, they only beat CC by 1 goal in each game last week, granted they were on the road on the bigger ice surface. CC had a game tying goal late disallowed due to an off sides call review in their first game.

Also, lowly CC out shot and out played UNO for large stretches of their second game (a 3-2 OT victory with 0.9 seconds remaining).

So, which Omaha team will show up this weekend against UND?

Bigger ice surface, 2 weeks off ice, 28 days lay off.

SF 19:  "Yeah, I’m pretty sure it’s more about the price of the tickets."

Yes it sure was for me. Paying about $400 to recover the 4 seats/game I donated costs back to the U was just too hard to swallow.

I mean $400 to get similar seats which I have actually paid for, at twice the cost per seat per game? Sorry.

....And I REALLY like watching banners go up.  But its not going to happen this time.

I think the teams should have finished the season with no fans. Why risk it, why cause the hard feelings?

Thought it sounded very strange.  I would guess the app will update it at some point.

Well, that’s unless they changed the rules or I should change my glasses. Several very pretty goals. Miami has played everyone tough and made them work for wins. My bet is they are just a year or two from becoming a pain in the a**
