Well the last game of the year at REA would be March.
-
I got the exact seats I wanted, so I am happy. It was fun. We might have to get in line for next year's tickets after the last playoff game in March.
-
The line is pretty crazy. Forecheck, why didn't you offer to help me? I have been in line all day, but there are a LOT of people budging. Well I got my new supplies and I'm headed back out for the cold night.
-
Home team wears the dark, away team wears the white jerseys.
-
Yeah, public season ticket holders go to all of the games. I think the people willing to wait in line will go to the games and make sure their tickets are used. Thanks for joining the forum and continuing the negative attitude towards students.
-
The line has already started. There are a few tents set up.
-
I actually meant that it would be a good idea for us the students to do. Of course I don't expect REA to do it. I have yet to find a seating chart that lists the rows, which would be needed for my suggestion.
-
I don't see why they would want to tell people they can't wait in line. Also, I thought you had to go to the seat to get the card. Will it be that way, or do you pick from a seating chart? I think it would be ideal for someone to have a large seating chart printed out ahead of time. Then people can indicate while waiting in line where they plan on sitting. That could help people be prepared for what they are going to get. Just a thought.

When people wait this long, you know that people cutting in line is going to be a problem. With the results being reserved tickets, it is very likely that this is going to cause some problems. I wonder what happens when the line gets so long that there are more people that seats in the lower level, as well as some people buying two tickets. I think it is going to be a mess.
-
So you are already planning on cutting in line?

Does anyone know whether or not the NCAA has changed the home and away jerseys to match the new NHL rule? I don't really like the idea for the NHL, but I think it would be cool to see the black and green jerseys at home.
-
Have they even said when on Sunday the tickets go on sale? I think they should have given priority to past ticket holders, but I'm not surprised with the way everything else has gone with REA.
-
As I said above, the commercials are very bad. They screw up the webcast and in the future people will pay for the service, so I think they need to go. Mine also cut out after the touchdown called back.
-
I guess I should clarify my claim. It is watchable, but it is not worth $9 a game. I am also only interested in it for hockey, which is why I am more negative because I know it will become worse. Hockey is much faster and will be watched by many more people. The sound cut out during the coin toss, it has been stuttering now on my end as well, and it seems to get really messed up when there is a cut to a commercial. The first commercial resulted in "buffering" for almost a minute. This could be an issue with the radio broadcast and switching feeds for advertising.

I still can't resize the image, but that's OK. When I enlarge it, it already becomes a lot worse. The bandwith in use ranges from 220 to 235.

I already wrote in the hockey forum, but I found the pq to be unacceptable. I can only choose between two sizes, so I'm not sure how many you have found. I like the presentation, but football is not good and hockey will be worse.
-
Well, I think the webcast needs a lot of improvement. The picture is quite blurry when there is no motion. If a football is hard to follow with a pass, how well can you see a smaller hockey puck moving much faster? The presentation is very nice though, but the pq is a deal breaker.

I talked to a ticket sales person at the UND Expo today. She said the meeting was being held this afternoon to decide how the student tickets will be done. She said it may be a week before the information is released.
-
Obviously all of the money doesn't go to the tickets. But go ahead and walk into Twamley and pay student fees and see if you can get a student ticket. We don't get a tax write-off with our money either. I don't know what this PC crap is about. Where did I say anything about the seating assignments? You come into the middle of a conversation and have no clue what you are talking about. Who's crying? I think that would be the general public that cried because we were standing. Why don't you get your facts straight. Your stereotypes and false claims make me sick.

There are many factors that will be different this year, so it will not be possible to tease apart the real reason for whatever atmosphere we have. If the team is better, that could change it. The reserved seating could change it in either direction. Some games may be worse if the seats are empty and other students aren't allowed to fill them up. Other games might be better, especially the big ones. I know everyone is loud for the Gopher series, but you can see that some students have no energy left after waiting outside for 8 hours. The amount of standing will change. Are students still allowed to stand for powerplays or anything other than goals? I think the student section atmosphere will also be improved with the reserved seating because it keeps families out of there. Many people don't want to be obnoxious when there is a little kid sitting right by them. Again, putting students in the corner would still not be the perfect solution now because suite holders and club seats may not be able to see, but yes it would be the most minimal effect. It needed to be taken care of in the design. For what is currently being done, everyone needs to know about it. It did not help last year when the non-student season ticket holders yelled at students for standing during the power plays, which students were told they could stand for. Originally one suite was to be given away by a drawing to a student for EVERY game. I don't know who lied to us on that one, but that would take care of one suite being blocked by students because they would stand if needed, or watch it on TV. The students were also to have four sections on the lower level, which didn't happen. I think the general public needs to know the students went into this situation getting screwed, thus they weren't going to take to the standing issue sitting down.
-
I have been one to note how the general public has a negative attitude towards students, including on this forum, but I don't think they want the students gone. There are just different expectations of what should happen at a game, and it varies within the students and general public as well. Some prefer excitement and cheering, some prefer to stand or sit, and some want the game to be like watching it on TV. I'm sure most of the general public recognize how the arena is when the students are there. Unfortunately, the series without students last year was the CC series. Yes it was a good crowd even without all of the students, but I know for a fact it would have been even louder and more supportive. In general, the students try to maintain atmosphere a lot more than the general public. Again, there are exceptions with some students who don't cheer and the general public trying to cheer a lot. Last year was a lot better for atmosphere than the first year in REA, and I think the reason for that was that students were allowed to stand more. We will find out if that is true this year when there is less standing. I hope I'm wrong, but I'll be waiting to say "I told you so."
-
Yes, that is exactly what I want to do. I'm not going to every away game. I get bitched at for requesting a package for season ticket holders and now I get bitched at for trying to use the only option season ticket holders are given. I'm sure that REA wants money from season ticket holders to make sure the webcasts continue. There may not be enough money in just selling the service to people like Brent. Again, you have to love this negative environment where people can't try to enjoy these "improvements."
-
mksioux, you just seem to be gunning for me. I sometimes wonder if we will ever agree on anything. I think one step that should be done is to give priority to season ticket holders. Highest priority for two years, then one year, and then all new people. I agree it would suck for new people that are willing to spend time waiting, but I don't agree that current season ticket holders should have no priority. I think this whole situation is a mess, but I'm not going to blame anyone who is trying to make it right now. This is something that should have been addressed when the arena was built. I will always blame everyone involved on that deal for taking no consideration in that factor. Even if they only toured other arenas when a game wasn't being played (which I don't know if that is how it was), this is a college and people should be able to think outside the box.
-
mksioux, go back and look at how I spell my username. Yes, I didn't make it clear that you weren't reacting negative to the students, but to the topic. My bad on that. I prefer your second part of the post where you give options. I also hope you can be open to other people's thoughts and not just think your way is the right way, as you have done in other threads.
