RIT was the 16 seed that last year, but Providence was the last team to receive an at-large bid to get in.

Yeah that's what I meant.  Regardless they were a 4 seed that never had to leave home. Placement is a huge factor.

Never imagined back in my day that I'd be watching North Dakota during March Madness.  No matter how this ends - and it's not looking good - this is still pretty cool to see.

I figured we'd win the Big Sky  (or Summit League) at some point. I hipe one day that our men's and women's teams will be good enough to get an At Large bid and/or a seed where we have a decent shot a winning (let's say 12 or better).

  3. Disappointing end for sure, against a rival no less. And next to no press coverage for the women either.

That being said, a WNIT bid is no small feat for a Big Sky team.  They should be proud and hopefully next year they make the dance again.

If I've learned anything from last year, it's that your draw in the NCAAs hardly matters.

I've thought we had cake regionals before and lost in the 1st round. I thought we had one of the toughest paths possible last yr and won it all.

In other words, I've given up cheering for one regional draw over another.

Remember that year Providence won as a 16 seed?

Michigan and Michigan State are awfully tough at The Joe.  You heard it here first:  Upset specials galore on Thursday night in the B1G!

I mean...the Big Ten is so weak is anything aside from Minnesota losing really an upset?

I can't speak for everyone, but I'm sure I speak for majority. You know the question, would you rather have your local WNBA team win a championship or find $20? If they win it all or finish 10th, it doesn't matter to the vast majority of people.

As a Lynx fan I disagree.

I'm a little surprised at our chances even losing both games. 89 percent us still  strong. Definitely pulling for the Michigan schools in big 10 first round and the Gophers to be sole rep.  Quinnipiac losing is also big.

Would love to see Air Force get an at large.  Two teams from Atlantic hockey and only one from the Big Ten would be a dream come true.

I've certainly enjoyed pointing out their lone spot in years past. Especially when both the NCHC and WCHA were sending half of their conferences.

    Playing with Pairwise Predictor ...

With a split in Minneapolis, I think we are in.

If we lose two, we might still get in if there are not too many upsets elsewhere.

Key risks to UND's at-large bid:

    * If BC wins Hockey East, they are in.   Can't get them in without winning HE.

    * If Quinnipiac wins ECAC, they are in.  Also can't get them in as an at large with a loss.

    * In the Big Ten, if both Penn State and Ohio State win playin games, then if Minnesota loses its semifinal, then an autobid goes to a team currently behind us (WI, PSU, tOSU).

Yeah I ran those scenarios too. The Big Ten can wreck havoc on the pairwise with those extra games.

I'll say it again....if the goal is to reach the dance. Brian Jones has done a better job over the years than Travis Brewster.

I'm all for extending Jones after this breakout season, but Brewster has accomplished far more.

Am I looking too much into this about how its been a quiet week on the women's hockey front in regards to the coach?

Well hopefully they're waiting for the NCAA tournament to finish so they can interview potential candidates who are currently assistants.

Aren't there other post season options if WNIT doesn't come through? I'm hoping this lights a fire under the men's team to come out swinging.

The WBI. We made it last year and lost to Weber State in the second round.

  12. Ok. I'm all for a new coach. But who replaces him?

The twins are focusing on the Olympic and Commodore probably isn't/has no experience and Shannon Miller is shrouded with controversy. Is there an assistant we can snipe from Minnesota or Wisconsin?
