  1. Looked at some plays in all three of SIUs games so far, here are some impressions:

    • Defense is happy to give up slants all day, seems they want to keep everything underneath and avoid any bombs
    • Two large D tackles on their line, front four wants to just stop the run, not great at getting to the QB
    • Need to try to get receivers into space with screens and slants (hello Red)
    • Nic Baker has been great at buying time by scrambling, sometimes runs and sometimes finds open receivers
    • Offensive line stinks when facing pressure, so if we blitz, we have to get home
    • Run game is nothing to be intimidated by, as long as the secondary cleans up

Right. I assume the espn+feed will be their broadcast.

Won't the ESPN+ feed be the home team's broadcast? I think Midco's broadcast may only be available for Midco customers.

We need a CB to step up now.  Secondary is getting thin.  Sammy Fort is still out.  We could use him.

DL and LB will to pressure and more pressure.

I believe offense will score.  Man we have weapons RB's, WR's and TE's

I'm wondering when/if we might see Dixon. No idea how he's performed in camp/practices, but if he's got instincts and knows the calls on defense, let's let him get his feet wet. If he doesn't work out or play well, we still can redshirt.

UND gets a commitment from big OL Isaac Folland of Kittson County Central. 6'3"-330.

This according to 360 on Twitter

Sorry for the delay getting the Wiki updated, should be up to date now. One thing within the o-line commits that's noticeable: some beef. Maciejczak is 6'4" 320, Folland is 6'3", 330. Probably not the weight they'll end up playing at once here, but it seems like some intentional efforts to recruit hogs.

How good is fcs compared to fbs?

Montana state got throttled by Oregon State

cant see Montana moving to number 1 with who they played

Montana State without its top 3 RBs yesterday, so take that score with a grain of salt, but I also don’t see them getting past the quarterfinals this year

UND must have a big lead (at least 2 scores, if not more) after the 3rd quarter, or history will repeat itself. At a mile and a half above sea level, the Hawks will be gassed in the 4th.

    NAU 31

    UND 21

Don't worry, elevation doesn't count indoors

Billy Rivière had 2 catches for 40 yards in Washington State upset of Wisconsin yesterday.  Good for Billy.

First tight end to catch a pass in 11 years at WSU. Glad he's found a spot in Wash

  8. I was able to watch some of NAU's game against Sam Houston this afternoon, some things that stuck out to me:

-NAU has a solid linebacking corps, stuffed the middle well. SHSU had more success running outside

-NAU's offensive line is their weakness. Really wide splits, very susceptible to stunts along the d-line

-QB isn't super mobile, but can escape pressure

-NAU RBs didn't get a lot of space to run, going to be important to have consistent tackles and not allow any yards after contact or bounces outside

-Tough to tell how good their secondary is, Sammy's QB used his legs more than he used his arm. Definitely not as good as Schmid was slinging it

I would agree.  Although he can only catch the balls that are thrown to him, he hasn't been targeted very much which I'm not sure if that is partially his fault for not getting open, or just the way they are playing him or what.   I don't know why we can't have both Maag and Red on the field at the same time.  Red should be on the field the majority of the time IMO.   I'm thinking....and hoping....Red's role continues to expand as the season goes on.

I liked Maag in Rudolph's offense his freshman year, where the focus was deep passes off of play action. Even his second year, in Danny's first season as OC, we still ran a lot of power and play action. I just don't think he fits in quite as well with what UND wants to do offensively now, which is spread things around, get guys the ball in space, which is definitely a strength of guys like Bo, Red, and even Jack Wright

It would be nice to know just what kind of offers our guys had before they committed.   The Wiki page doesn't show what our commits had from other schools.   I kinda lost track on this thread but I do remember one guy had a Kent State offer and one had something from UNI and I think there were some from the military academies.   Are those the only biggies?

Does Wiki even show all the offers we have put out there?

Wiki is up to date on current offers. I had been removing other offers committed players had, I can put those back up.

Wiki gets updated as soon as I can manage, thanks to those who remain patient until I can edit it.

Kauppinen benches 365 to break the all time safety record. Peterson benches 315 to break the all time kicker record.

New Juco kid Braden Bryant benching 455 as well, the guy is a hoss.

Down south another player entered the portal

    Andre Carrier

    @andrecarrier_

I would like to start off by saying thank you to the coaches and staff at NDSU. I would also like to thank my teammates for the memories and friendships. With a lot of thought and consideration I have decided to enter the transfer portal with 4 years of eligibility remaining.

A Cavalier kid, I was a little surprised to see him pick NDSU out of high school. Had a couple DII offers. My guess is he crosses the river and plays for the Dragons

    May I respectfully disagree?

The spring roster shows five: Skokna, Mitchell, Ziebarth, Smith, Pride

Admittedly they list the new Romfo as a WR (and not as RB I'd expected).

Injuries pile up as the season progresses. One more back isn't a bad thing.

PS: UNI lists 7 and NDSU lists 8 at RB on spring rosters.

I agree, I think UND absolutely should add him if they can. I would just slot him at 4 right now on the depth chart if he were on campus.
You’re right, extra RB bodies are not a bad thing in the MVFC
