  2. that will be forgotten down the road as long as a season gets going.

If it happens, it's completely stupid.  You don't cancel a season, then have it. Noone cares at this point.

Is there going to be an "****" next to the winner?

  3. early march. need time to sign players and hire staffs for all teams. tons of free agents in the nhl right now. 24-28 game season and regular playoffs...

they will nedd to do something drastic to fill arenas. heavy discounted tickets and so forth to make this work. maybe just change 2 rules this season like the 2 line pass and a shootout to create excitement for the fans rather than watching paint dry. the other changes will come next year. goalie pad sizes, bigger nets and a few more rule changes.

but....................lets wait until saturday to get too excited..it would be great though

When they start it up, I'll believe it.  Until then, it's cancelled.

  5. i love going to coyotes games here in az but i as long as I have Sioux Hockey to watch i am fine without the NHL.

both the players and owners are to blame. the players gave in at the last minute to a cap but i really think the owners did not want a deal anyway. the NHL does not have the huge fan following or power to survive this like the MLB or NFL. yes its huge out east and the midwest and so forth but for the most part people don't care because its such a regional sport.

they have to change the game. the game sucks. the trap and other types of play slow the game down and people don't want to watch that. the fans want scoring!

here are the basic ideas the NHL have been going over........ i'm sure we all have seen these ideas brought up to make the NHL game better and more exciting

eliminate the red line (2 line pass) , this will open up play for more exciting plays and more goals..

they may make the net bigger or make the goalie pads smaller.. (more goals)

they may move the net back closer to the boards..

change the icing rule like college without touch up to prevent injuries..

and a 5:00 minute OT followed by shootout (for the fans) also there will be a winner every night..

I'm kind of surprised that no one has said anything about this yet. Maybe it's because no one really cares about the NHL at this point. Does the possibilty of there not being a season next year also, have some effect on current college players to stick around for another season ? Like Drew or Green ? I'm not sure what Staff's status was, or if he was even thinking of leaving this early. I mean, there is only going to be so many roster spots available in the AHL, Europe and so forth. Thoughts, complaints, fingerpointing, anything you got.......? I personally think a salary cap in the $42 Million range would be sufficient, and a salary cap has shown that it works, in other major sports. I think the players are to blame for this "terrible" turn of events. I also caught Phil Esposito saying that he and some others are going to start "another league". Haven't heard much more for details on that. Go Sioux !!!

  6. maybe for a alterate jersey but thats it. the jerseys they have now may be the best in college hockey. the blacks are unbelievable but they have not wore those this year if i am correct. i remember coach hakstol saying earlier this season in a interview that they were still waiting for the black jerseys be sent to them.

Personally, I'd like to see unis with just "North Dakota" on the front and the Sioux logo on the shoulders.

  7. or just get creative and create a new logo and not use the generic, boring flame logo. :0

So instead lets use a logo that when everyone sees it they instantly think of a different university?!?!?!?

The interlocking ND logo is the one that is generic. At least the flame logo would be original to UND.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

  8. i got stopped at the phoenix open golf tourney a few weeks back and was asked if i was wearing a notre dame shirt but then they noticed the sioux logo..i have no problem with the ND logo. its tradition.

the UND with the flame is boring and not appealing at all. if they had to come up with another logo which i doubt they will, it could be way cooler than the flame logo..

  9. i hear you..this does not mean much at all right now but its interesting to see where the sioux stand from a reliable source being the PWR on uscho..

you are correct, we need to win bottom line! get wins in the last 3 weeks and these tourney predictions will take care of themselves.

will also say i will take my chances with the sioux winning 2 games in any region?

  12. just a answer given by college hockey analyst steve schlenger from CSTV. heres the question by a fan and answer given from uscho chat today...i think steve and I share the same thoughts :0;)

Ben (Portland, Maine): What are your Frozen Four picks? How about a darkhorse candidate?

Steve Schlanger: I would say Colorado College, Boston College, Denver and New Hampshire, with my darkhorse being North Dakota.
