you have to respect sean avery just being a colorful and honest guy http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/news/story?id=3740267 - these glasses are so official !! Avery approached a group of reporters, asked if a camera was present, then said he wanted to say one thing. "I am really happy to be back in Calgary, I love Canada," he said. "I just want to comment on how it's become like a common thing in the NHL for guys to fall in love with my sloppy seconds. I don't know what that's about. Enjoy the game tonight." Avery's ex-girlfriend, actress Elisha Cuthbert, is dating Calgary defensman Dion Phaneuf and had been romantically linked to Mike Komisarek of the Montreal Canadiens. Avery also dated model and actress Rachel Hunter, the girlfriend of Los Angeles Kings center Jarrett Stoll.

SIOUX Recruits - 2008-09 Updates, Monitoring Their Junior League Play
AZSIOUX replied to AZSIOUX's topic in Men's Hockey
still a long season ahead so we will see how this team pans out but this years freshman class is very solid. next year with kristo, cichy and danny mattson should be very solid trio at the forward position. i think kristo and danny mattson will end up being a stars with the sioux along with a couple of this years frosh but what the hell do i know -
lost 1-0 friday to harvard and won 3-2 saturday friday box score saturday box score
-
just depends the severity of it. there is different degrees i believe.
-
pretty much, unless you are a guarenteed NHL superstar which is unpredictable in its own right

who said he didnt earn it. he has been working his butt off since he arrived on campus early summer. BE was brought in to UND to play right away. the coaches dont care if you are a freshman or senior. they want to win. again.......... the situation is different as well. walski has 4 career starts and 1 coming into the season. he had the chance early splitting games and didnt do well and then got yanked in his last start. obviously BE has paid his dues in the coaches eyes as he has earned the spot.
-
totally different situation. you cant compare jake brandt and aaron walski and that is the difference. sorry. cant do it and never will be able to do it. if the situation presents itself like it does this year then who cares what class he is in. jpar had a hell of a freshman season in net. he was 14-4-3 with a .908 SV% and a 2.05 GAA. that makes no sense at all. you play the best players bottom line at this level. the goalie situation is what it is and BE is the starter. he gives the team the best chance to win and i dont care what class you are in and what city you are from. you play the lineup that you can win with

if gleason can come in and produce on the offensive side then that would be great. genoways a hell of a puck pusher and we will need a player to do that after he leaves and im guessing gleason can be the guy for a few years. im excited to see him play for the sioux. hes playing well with des moines as of now which is nice to see. i agree on the other 2 and that will be up to them. or to get dylan olsen in do they push gleason back 1 more year?? just a thought. have no idea if even possible.

macwilliam is gona be a force and blood and fienhage will be physical as well. blood has shown a little so far but you are right. not much hitting. just watched a older dvd and matt greene hit the opposing player every time they came down the middle or tried to take him wide around the boards. smaby played a nice physical game as well watching a game with him in it. greene was a friken machine out there. wow. macwilliam blood and fienhage will be the bigger forces while genoway, marto, lapoint and gleason need to be the playmaking d men. gleason seems like hes a hell of a skater

glad you had a nice time. sorry the fireworks, cheerleaders and laser show were too much for ya if that was you responding in your little wrap up q & a if thats what that is you posted highly doubt you taught the sioux fans the sieve cheer. hockeys been around a while in grand forks with 7 national titles to boot the sudents were gone for holiday break so thats why the student section was a little empty and that effects the overall atmosphere without a doubt in a arena that large. the atmosphere has been lacking. no doubt about that. love the 2 folding table reference at your rink, thats some funny stuff #23 is ralph engelstads number when he played the sioux SALUTE their fans when they have a series sweep which is how it should be in my eyes nice recap, will be a good series in ithaca next january!! or maybe we will meet in the nc$$ tourney if you get the auto bid or get in that top 14 along with the sioux

japr went 14-4-3 splitting time with brandt going 16-4 that year in 2003-04 when we couldnt get 1 damn goal vs DU in that regional final in the springs after outshooting them 33-17 with 12 current pro players hell bochenski took 9 shots himself that game also dean's last game as head coach BE will get 30 starts this season so lets wait til the end of the year and see how he is overall.
-
BE is adjusting just fine to this level IMO.he gives the team the best chance to win and thatsvery very obvious by looking at numbers and wins and the coaching staff playing him every game lately. siembida ? sorry davek. how do you see that happening? brad has 5 career wins in his first 11 games started behind a team that cant score right now. brandt still holds a record or two i believe before getting benched his last year and a half for the most part. big big difference between jake brand and siembida. huge difference. so you want a senior to play just because he rode the bench as a WALK ON goalie for 3 years? this isnt little league. this is a top tier division 1 program with tons of a season left to see what happens. no participation ribbons are needed and you dont play because you are from north dakota? really on the fargo thing? i get it if you are saying its nice to see semi-locals play but BE is playing every game for a reason. please dont ever put josh siembida and jake brandt in a comparison together. brandt played in 59 career games with a 32-12-4 overall record and a 2.57 GAA and a .900 sv % and didnt play for crap his senior season for whatever reason hak had - while siembida played in 31 career games in a season and a half going 17-10-1 with a 3.35 GAA and a .870 sv%. and we all know he ended up going to quinnipiac and did nothing you are right, goaltending isnt the problem. we are struggling scoring right now and joe is missed overall.

not sure if this has been posted but a Q&A with jpar from his old ushl team waterloo parise BH: Between the Devils, North Dakota, and Waterloo, who was the best player you played with? Of your current or former teammates, who would you least want to face in a shootout? JP: The best player, I think, would have to be Zach. Not speaking from a brother s standpoint but from a player s. I have been able to watch him and understand his mindset during competition and realize how much he studies the game and tries to prove that he is smartest player on the ice. It is amazing how he can be effective with and without the puck. As far as a player I would not want to face in a shootout, in my first training camp, we were doing a shootout and Patrik Elias deked me to the point where I was basically in the corner facing the wrong way while he sat at the far post waiting for me to turn around before he put it in.

SIOUX Recruits - 2008-09 Updates, Monitoring Their Junior League Play
AZSIOUX replied to AZSIOUX's topic in Men's Hockey
andrew macwilliam has picked up the scoring this year on a worse team. he has 4-11 for 15 points in 29 games tied with potential sioux recruit dylan olsen who is his D partner. macwilliam had 13 points all of last season in 54 games. he also has 107 PIM which is 3rd highest on his team as of now. also add 3 fights and 3 game misconducts camrose stats anyone know if mike fink is hurt for waterloo as he hasnt played the last couple games before they too a thanksgiving break and also maybe cichy as he didnt play that weekend as well. also nick mattson for team usa, he only shows 6 games played in the stat link for him so wasnt sure if he got dinged up. just looked and it looks like he missed 2 full months im guessign with an injury. he looks to be back and should be ready to play vs the sioux then coming up this month. they should put a no hit rule on mattson for that game mattson stats thanks if anyone has info -
agree on a few points. this team isnt bad defensively or at goaltending. jones and blood are damn good defensively and genoway and miller are there to create rushes and scoring chances and thats fine. the others are in need of stepping up and hope when joe comes back that he brings a extra dimension to this crew overall being physical and a few points. blood and fienhage are physical and are improving game to game. blood a bit more having played a handful more games. you are so right when you say this team has no identity. that could change soon or it may not but ill be there for the ride with the rest of ya maybe frattin is ready to break out. he has had a nice few game span. would be great to get some offensive help from that sophmore class that doesnt have much when looking at trupp and malone this season along with VV and kozek who are gifted players. i like the team overall and think it will get better as we go but it needs to start vs harvard with 2 important wcha games coming after then 2 more potential important non conference games over the holiday. those could mean tons in march. go sioux!!

just scanning their roster on uscho link and see doug rogers from fargo. his profile says he was born in watertown , ma on hockeydb.com but lists him on uscho roster from fargo. anyone know of this player. he has solid numbers through his career so far http://hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=95358
