  1. I thought last nights game was a close one that came down to goaltending and puck luck. The two goals cam let in weren't bad but very stoppable. He had clean looks both times. Their goalie made some decent saves and the pipe in the third period made me think it just wasn't our night. This team is good, just inconsistent. As evidenced by Friday's first period compared to the second period. If they can find a way to play solid for an entire game I still have hope!

Yeah that's pretty impressive that's why I expected more from him it's one thing to be good in practice but another thing to actually do it in games. But a real question is do you think Simo would even be a factor for any other college team that is as high caliber as the Sioux? If he wasn't from grand forks I bet he wouldn't he'd maybe get a shot from his USHL career but other than that he'd be in the stands watching..

That is my thinking on him as well. He would be a fourth liner on the bottom teams in the NCAA. Sometimes it works out picking up guys that have potential and they develop into great players.  Being from grand forks definitely landed him his opportunity at UND.

Simo isn't a scorer. That's not his role. His role is to be steady up the middle, to forecheck like a banshee and play responsible in his zone. I like Gornall a lot, but Simo certainly brings an important piece, IMO. It's not ALL about scoring goals.

I agree that everyone on a team has a role. Simo is a junior, he has played 28 games, registered a single goal that was a slam dunk into an open net. As a junior I feel like he should produce more even if he's not considered a goal scorer. There are other guys on the bench that can do exactly what he does. The only guy I would consider sitting before simonson is Olson. All opinion though

Man, I can't wait to trade games with DU, UMD, and the Cloud for Penn St, Ohio State, and Mich State...that way we can end up just like Minnesota; having a half full barn during the home conference schedule. ;)

That wouldn't cause fans to stop going to games! I would love to have Minnesota on the schedule every year again.

Watch it my friend. I am a progressive liberal and I am NOT anti-American. :glare:

As for what Gage posts on social media, I couldn't care less. He has the same right to his opinion that I (and Oxbow6 for that matter) have. He was our captain for title team #8 and has contributed a lot to this program. People should lay off.

No kidding! The team as a whole is having a tough year, not just gage. I feel like he definitely hasn't played as well as I thought he would this year but judging him on his political views on social media is funny to me. If the team was winning would it even be brought up? Cripes stetcher was quoted after the championship last year that he was going to Joe blacks when he got home to get blackout drunk and I didn't hear much about that haha

  6. This is definitely going to be a different series compared to earlier this year. Scoring is coming from more than just the top line and the younger guys on the team are starting to get acclimated to this level of hockey. Hoping for a sweep but feeling a split coming.

LJ was an early peaker...it will be interesting to see what the Hawks are able to do with him.  Quite honestly, he doesn't skate at an elite NCAA level, which doesn't bode well for his career.  I wish him well, but he definitely did not get the same talk as Toews from the staff

Agreed. I highly doubt they were begging him to sign. That being said, I can't blame him for going for the money

Despite any variables involved in a potential move to the Big10, I really believe our hockey team would be sold short.  We go from a conference that prepares us extremely well for the NCAAs every year to one where we play OSU, MSU, PSU, & WI(unless they get better) on a regular basis.  I truly believe a big reason for our newly found postseason success is playing UMD, UNO, SCSU, DU, & Miami on a regular basis. The NCHC has sent an average of 4.33 teams to the NCAAs every year. That's over 1/2 the conference! Also, we have sent 5 teams(out of a possible 12 chances) to the Frozen Four(UND 3 times), and have our 1st national championship since 2000.  I don't think it's a coincidence that we have made the FF every year we have been part of our new conference.

So to recap, since the NCHC has been formed we've had 27% of NCAA participants, 42% of Frozen Four teams, and 33% of the national champions. This, despite our conference making up 13% of all college hockey teams. Why change things?

Change for more $. The strength of the nchc has never been a question or a reason to leave to another

I don't think you nor I know that for sure...

However, if that were indeed the case, it's a non-starter.

We would need to have some small revenue percentage - peanuts for them, compared to what they are taking in and what UND would bring in return.

I was wondering where siouxkid came up with that fact. It's all speculation on what the offer would/wouldn't include

  10. Don't get me wrong I like the nchc and as a fan wouldn't want UND to go to the big ten but this is a no brainer. From a dollar stand point it would be a smart decision to join. There's more publicity=dollars.  Big ten is more commercialized and with that comes more money. From a fans standpoint its not any better but for the team and university it would be a smart decision in the long run.

Gfhockey texted me after bar time last night sayin Nick and Paul are both waiting to see what Gornall is going to do.  He actually said "doorknob," but I figured he meant Gornall.

And gornall is waiting to see what Anderson is going to do.

The first period was dominated by UND and yet, the score was 2-1 when it was over.  There were stretches of the 2nd where QU was more than holding their own against the Ha, er, Sioux.  Sam Anas hit at least two pipes and there was another nice move by I belive St. Denis that almost led to a goal.  The game is often a matter of breaks, and a break the Bobcats' way was the difference between 4-1 and 2-2.

I agree, it could have been 2-2.  It also could have been 3-2, 3-1. If I remember correctly poolman nailed a pipe in the first aswell. North Dakota did get the bounces but the bounces more often than not go to the better team.
