  1. Iceberg, tonights game is at 85W? I have a fixed dish for FSSN, are there elevation, skew adjustmentss to move over, or is it merely give the dish a little turn? (I have a DirectPC dish) a bit off topic, is there much World Junior coverage on FTA (Ku)?
  2. I think I can help one lucky fan get the game. email me at mister_marff@yahoo.com subject sioux fooball. alomst game time.
  3. directly from the source, it looks like a subtle move for FSSN this year. Same bird, different freq: Intelsat Americas 8 at 89 deg W K17 slot B - 9MHz Ku band download frequency 12044.5 V L band download frequency 1294.5V symbol rate 4.88 FEC 3/4 PMT 480 Video 481 Audio 484 (primary L &R) Iceberg, what does the k17 part mean?
  4. thank you for the heads up on the feed. just got off the roof. its getting cold and rainy here in MSP. anyway, I'm in with a "37" which is as high I've been for the past several games.
  5. Thanks guys, but I have not been able to pick up anything all day--a big notta everywhere. my dish was only moved sideways and I figured that looking for a known signal, I'd be able to find it easily. I'll try again when FSSN comes up again. about 10-15 minutes before gametime?
  6. Help requested. Is any channel currently "on" the FSSN satellite? I'm picking up nothing on the whole thing (full blind scan). My dish got moved (I'm an idiot), and I need to repoint. So if anyone is getting anything on that satellite today, please reply with the "location" and your signal strength.
  7. I'm not the message board's resident expert, but the jumpy screen and distortion sound like a weak signal issue. I was down to a 35 signal strength this weekend and had a small amount of "pixelation" issues. (just a couple hiccups here and there during the 2nd period). Was your problem on every channel or just FSSN? Seeing as FSSN is off until next weekend, all I can offer is do a "hard reset"--unplug the power for a few minutes and then bring it back up. If it was a weak signal issue, perhaps your dish has slid out of ideal allignment or has ice/snow on it (I don't know where you are). As a last ditch effort, just prior to next weeks game, maybe resetting to factory defaults, and then doing a blind scan will lock onto the best signal. I don't quite follow you on the "rolling" screen description, but as a SWAG, verify your output mode is NTSC, not PAL. (either an actual switch on the back of the reciever, or a menu driven option). As an extra SWAG, try the different output connections to the TV i.e. coax, composite (the yellow RCA plug), or S-video. If your using the coax connection, verify you're on the correct channel (just like the old ch 3 or 4 thing with VCRs).
  8. tonight, not on Dish network. All UND home games are broad cast on a Ku band satellite located: Satellite Coordinates 05-06 Intelsat Americas 8 at 89.0
  9. over 70 on the signal tonight.....never seen a Sioux game over 39...new hardware? new satellite location? perfect weather in MSP?... or just a perfect night for hockey? regardless, its great weekend on FSSN.....GO SIOUX!!
  10. Excellent (like Mr Burns on the Simpsons). thanks. at least I know I'm in the ballpark.
  11. Iceberg, (or anyone else with similar equipment) what are you getting for a signal on the WDSU station?--or any other "everyday" station? I installed the Xtreme .3 last night (with 75cm dish, and satworks 3618) and the best I could pull in was a 44. (an improvement of 5 points) from when I started. Seeing as the weather here was perfect (in MSP) and thats the best I could get, I'd like to compare to someone else's reception of the same thing. I guess 5 points is a 12% improvement and I would have LOVED to have those 5 points on last season.
  12. I repointed my dish last night. scoring 41-43 on this location: 12190 freq H polarity 3978 symbol rate using a satworks 3618, 75cm dish, and I have NOT yet moved to the low noise LNBF. I'm not a pro at this, but it is just as simple as rotating the dish over (to the left). If you mark your starting position on the mounting pole, the 6 degree rotation will look like a 3/16 inch of movement...perhaps a bit less. (assuming you were fixed on the old Sioux satellite) My advice is to make tiny incremental changes, and wait a moment for things to "settle out" before moving again. Once I found it, I did find that a modest elevation change helped maximize signal (I had to lower it a bit...) Question however. most channels had very weak audio and lots of static (picture fine). Is that everyone's experience or might I have to tweak something?
  13. I called Jamie about permission to get the games and was told that for private, home use there is no issue. That is, don't worry about it. As to why the move, I understood (from our converstaion) that because FSSN is not 24/7 they essentially got booted.
  14. locked in at 37%...satworks 75cm dish in NW MSP burbs. kinda giggle at the explanation of "strong" signals either side of FSSN....I don't get those either. PSB we will do (more) business this summer. As far as Sensor's having a dish....I don't care. I hate that place ( 2 locations I've been). Crummy food, poor services, nasty beer,...etc. I bought the dish in large part so I wouldn't be tempted to go there just to get a hockey fix....my plan worked great last year....LAST year. Pitcrew #89
  15. over 50 today for first time ever despite the cloud cover. Perhaps they fixed the problem (that they never had )?
  16. sweet. dancing 39-47 on the signal on a 75cm dishw' satworks. never saw anything over 40 last season, despite having no picture problems. thought the big wind last weekend may have messed up the dish pointing....guess not. looks like I won't get to play CIV II while listening to the game over the internet. D'oh?
  17. DOA for me too. Seems rather sad that you need a (relatively) HUGE dish to pull in a signal the Sioux shop offers a package to get. sounds like anybody but a pro or "tweaker" can't get jack. Seems a sad case from "back in the day", prior to internet feeds, when I'd call a buddy and have them set the phone reciever next to the radio speaker just to get the game... God bless the internet.
  18. 6:50 locked in with a 36 signal....hope the cloud cover doesn't get thicker.
  19. WTF? I haven't got anything watchable except for part of 1 period all year. last night was the worst with a total 0 (after having a 32 for a while). Today, no football...yet seeing as the internet feed is horrible, and I had to fight with RealPlayer to the AA feed, I took a peek at the dish.....and I get it at a 39. I had outright given up and figured I have to call a pro (Pete). sure its clear today, but still.... not complaining, but this seem to be a might fickle system.
  20. anybody elses picture turn to crap at the start of the 2nd tonight?
  21. I started with signal strength of 37--which is fine, but towards the end of the first it statred pixelating. It got progressively worse so by mid 2nd it was too annoying to watch, so back to the internet radio. the end of the 3rd was boderline tolerable with a signal strength of 35. Last year I had no problems at all and never was over a 39 for signal strength....perhaps the change to vertical polarization has something to do with it?
  22. I'm on 12000 with symbol rate of 4882, and Vertical. Signal strength 37 in northwest Minneapolis area
  23. for what its worth I've found that resetting to factory default, then doing a blind scan helps. To speed up the blind scan process, (on a 3618) hit blind scan, then go down to where it says "normal" and hit the right arrow. This moves you to an "advanced" search where you can set the start and ending frequencies for the scan. Then just type in something like 11990 for start and 12010 for end. Why scan ALL frequencies when you know where its supposed to be?
  24. looking good. just the sioux logo test pattern for now
  25. Marff

    Audio?
