I was in GF in the summerof '89 when Taco Bell opened on Washington.  My roommate dragged me there for lunch...was the greatest day of my life.

If you ordered from the SW Taco Bell in '89, there is a good chance that you just got your food when you posed this message. :D

It is part of the current double standard in this country that allows many within the BLM movement to scream "Kill Whitey" and "Kill all white babies" without backlash or criticism.

Come on, even though you added the qualifier "many" it is still very hyperbolic. Black Lives Matter is more of an, as you say, movement . . .  not a group. The movement does not want to kill all white babies, that's ridiculous. They do not have a charter or a platform that endorses anything of that sort and to compare one or two assholes that aren't white with an entire institution whose history is explicitly built on prejudice, hate, and fear mongering is ridiculous.

I'm planning on making one of the away game series this season but can only chose one and it has to be before x-mas break. I've got it narrowed down to the CC series or the Denver series. Obviously the Denver series will be more exciting hockey, so I'm leaning towards that trip. But when it comes down to travel, restaurants and day time activities, which of the two would you recommend? I know there is a direct flight out of Devils Lake to Denver for like $250

Frontier is coming back to Fargo later this year. Should make for some cheap flights (Denver) if you're quick and the dates are right.

  4. At 3:30pm Peter Thome will be leading Team Clark in Grey in the Blue Jackets development camp's 3x3 tournament. He will be battling against two other teams, one with that big, dumb of Ryan Collins. This is probably your best chance to view Thome outside of the Manitoba game until next season :D

STREAMING LIVE ON FACEBOOK: Columbus Blue Jackets page, obviously.

I was looking as well and there's not a lot as far as '18 draft information. UND recruits that will be eligible for the first time:

Gavin Hain - Grand Rapids HS

    Jonny Tychonick - Penticton (BCHL)

    Jacob Bernard-Docker (AJHL)

Braden Costello - Des Moines (USHL)

Tychonick / Bernard-Docker will both be on their second year of juniors after playing in their respective leagues as 16 year olds. Should be able to make a significant jump.

Ethan Frisch just misses the cut off by a month and a half?

  6. SBNation has Gavin Hain as a "B Prospect" and Braden Costello as a "C Prospect"

Elite Prospects seems to have Costello in the top 31 in their polls, but they don't seem to be curated as none of the scouting sites seem to have an '18 list and the names are all the same . . .

I also think the landscape of college hockey has changed a lot. Schools that would never have gotten draft picks in the past are now picking up high recruits. UMASS, Mankato, Duluth has been getting quite a few, St Cloud has picked up quite a few. Then you get some teams, like BU that have been cleaning up with the top recruits.

I think there is just more opportunity out there for kids who want to play and be "THE" guy. UND should definitely be on the watch for some of the kids who have committed to Wisco, because there is just no way they will all end up there.

Would like to see us land Rizzo, Would like us to still take a shot at Tolvanen. Not sure who else is up and coming, but it would be nice to land a couple more top guys here and there.

Tolvanen played just south of us . . .and is future teammates with MI SMASH! I am curious what led to his inadmissibility . . .

He was in for his visit this weekend. A friend sat next to him and his father and he said they have already visited the Boston schools. Said on his visit they went to a Red Sox-Yankees game at Fenway. Maybe a reason BU and Quinn are killing it on the recruiting trail.

I would argue that the Ralph is our Fenway, which he would be playing in . . .not maaaaaaaaaaaaaaybe watching from the stands if he finds the time and money. BOOM! Get me a job as a closer.

I just got my tickets for the UND/Miami series out in Oxford next March. I can't wait! Anyone been to a game out there? Is the atmosphere as fun and intense as it appears on television?

I had moved out to Ohio for a few years so jumped all over the games, especially when the NCHC was formed. Saw the inaugural game! Awesome little town, nice little rink but some years the season ticket holders don't show up as much (but they are perpetually "sold out" so we never really have much of a presence. Most UND fans got their tickets through the alumni association, returned player comps, or by donating money to MU to get preorder access), leaving the student section to do all the cheering. Also, its a dry arena :( . It can be really fun there, though, everyone from the fans (in the concourse anyway), to the concession/stand workers to the ushers were always super cool.

  11. The problem with buying the package just to go, which would be funny when 6 of their other games are even more empty because of the UND fans not going to them: They will still use those empty seats in their attendance numbers.

Can someone tell me what we are looking at please?

Unless I am out of my mind, that is Peter Thome in front. He was the winning goalie in the final of the Columbus's 3v3 prospect tournament at the end of development camp.

(He is committed to UND, playing for Omaha this year and coming to town next . . . maybe)

Well those places all are in Minnesota so they would be correct. I grew up in one of those types of places went to Sioux hockey games and became a fan when I was young. I went to Grand Forks a lot like you mention but I definitely am a Minnesotan and proud of that. I'm also a Minnesota fan in every other sport besides college hockey so that probably helps. I think a lot of times when a Minnesotan mentions that a kid is from the state especially in hockey it has to deal with them playing high school hockey there and they are proud to add to the state of hockey tradition.

I'm not arguing that they're not Minnesotan, I am saying that they are local kids. UND is their local (major) college . . . we didn't poach them from UMs backyard. I do completely get "Minnesota state hockey" pride though . . . my daughter is Green Wave.

Thome should be in Columbus today for dev camp, if anyone wants to follow the jackets. They usually do a fair amount of updates and stream the scrimmage on the last day every year. Also. Crookston's Paul Bittner has taken over their Snapchat account.

Forgive the self-bump here but the Blue Jacket's 3 on 3 development camp tournament (with Sioux commit Thome wearing #41) will be today at 3:30pm Central. It should be streamed live on their webpage, their Facebook, YouTube, and (doubtful that you have it) their app.
