If you guys run into Jackfan29, let him know SDSU lost to Montana today. I guess they left their curb stomper back in Brookings.

Yes, playing in blowout games each week sounds good in theory, but not very realistic once you factor in opponent, injuries etc. We found that out this season. Some games, many games will be contested well into the second half. The biggest grind on players is not during the games, but during the weeks of camp and practice. Playing the actual game is the easy part. Any athlete will tell you that.

UND dealt with key injuries early in the season (insert the cheap shot on Zach Arnell here thanks to the Bison) and had gotten things sorted out toward the latter part of the season with the return of Reyes, Georges and Studs. Its not how you start; its how you finish. This UND team had bounced back and was rolling in spite of blowout and tough 4th qtr losses earlier in the season. This team developed mental toughness and resolve that will continue into next year. The committee got it wrong plain and simple.

I don't see the FCS getting rid of the current playoff system. But as a fan and casual supporter (I am not a donor or booster) of UND football, I am just saying it would be nice to see some type of system at the FCS level to extend the season and allow for the bowl game experience. I am sure the players, coaches and the families would enjoy it as would those that would benefit financially. Hotels, restaurants, etc. It wont' be a perfect system because even then, some deserving teams will be left out. But, I think some of those teams that felt snubbed by the playoff committee would like a chance to play in a bowl game. It could also be another recruiting tool by adding bowl wins to a school's resume.

donors? ....motivation for??

Obviously we don't have the power to install anything. However, it would be nice to have some type of post season bowl system, without the politics and bull*^% that we saw and still see in the FBS. I think the players would enjoy to traveling to Florida to play Jacksonville State this time of year at the NFL Jaguars stadium as would some northeast team traveling to Scottsdale to play NAU at Cardinals home stadium in Arizona to end the year. The FBS has a "playoff system" to crown the BCS national champions but there are FBS schools that don't have a snowball's chance in hell of ever playing for the national title but there are still bowl games for them to participate in like the New Mexico Bowl, Armed Forces Bowl, and many others.

Based on the new precedent set by the "committee," Bubba should schedule Alabama, Ohio State, and Florida State every year. Get big checks to build phase 2 and 3 of the HPC, get some new uniforms and get some quality losses in the process to give us a better shot at the playoffs.
-
No, I wouldn't even go that far to crown a national champion. We all know how that would turn out. FUBR.

I like the idea of playing mid major FBS or lower tier FBS. This way, the FCS can scrap the already dysfunctional and overly subjective playoff system. Now, many schools would complain about being left out of a bowl, similar to FBS, but bowl committees could select the top 32 schools to play in a post-season bowl, provided they win the pre-requisite number of games of course. I agree it won't happen but it would be good to see.

Bowl talk...It would be nice if the FCS had a bowl system. They have ice cream bowls and I lost my dog bowls for FBS schools that win six games, why not have FCS bowls? There are a ton of companies that are raking in some serious cheese that could use a tax break for being the sponsor, while giving the chance for schools like UND to play one more game against a team from another conference. Stipulations: play another conference outside of your own, best 2 of 3 coin flip to decide the home site, and the game is played the Thanksgiving weekend. Who cares what the bowl is called because its all about the competition and a chance to say I played in a bowl game. Am I crazy for thinking this?

Yes, I agree. The bye should come with about 3 games remaining at the earliest, but not later when you factor in a playoff run. That being said, I hope the staff takes that into consideration in fall camp and during the season to help the guys save their bodies a bit, while still getting maximum preparation and effort. Its a tough balance. A lot of guys seem really thinned out physically at the end of the season. Good for some that stand to lose a few pounds to improve mobility, but bad for those that need to maintain a few pounds for the bumps and grinds that football places on your body, especially at the skill positions.

Hence the mental preparation (watching film) that I was referring to. Also, by being a QB..I think it sets a good leadership tone for the locker room.

I think Montana will beat SDSU because its all about timing and momentum...beating MSU heading into the playoffs should give them a boost. I think Clive also benefited from being out by having fresh legs later in the season. But I am not hoping for more injuries next year! But, I think you and me both see how minor injuries can turn into a positive. That's a credit to the 'mental preparation, while out, and the coaches and teammates keeping them involved.

I am really bothered by the snub. But I will take it a step further...beyond "who you, know," its also about who knows you. If the people with position power don't know you or take the time to get to know your program in the case of UND, its easier for them to crap on you without feeling bad about it. I'm sure (I hope) someone in the room asked the question, "What about UND....?" But it seems like, no one in the room cared enough to say, objectively, You know, UND has put together a nice resume, and they deserve a shot and actually argued the point. Having an ISU rep on the committee probably is what sunk us because he was probably like, we (ISU) sucked all year so what do I care if UND gets in. There was a built in "hater" in the house

Sorry to see him go. But, I hear he has a plan for his future away from football and he's not just leaving blindly with no plan B. I wish him the best. He's a very thoughtful young man with a good personality, which will serve him well moving forward.

Curb stomp? Really? Lose to a 5 win team and you think SDSU is capable of curb stomping Montana or any BSC team. UNC won 6 games this year, same as WIU. So your argument about PSU losing to UNC is moot. FYI...UND got to bed at 2:30 am when they traveled to Weber State and lost by one.
-
My badd, SDSU?
-
I will bet a paycheck that SDSU did not put forth full effort to win that game against WIU. But, I am curious how you come to the conclusion that beating a ranked team on the road, that ended up only losing two games all year (reminder: 1 of those loses came at the hands of UND) is not better than WIU beating NDSU, who was safely in the playoffs and nothing to lose in the last game of the regular season? Please explain what makes beating NDSU more valuable than beating PSU.
-
Let them gloat. Most of the people online don't play on the team. If we handle business in the offseason as we should, and I expect we will, we'll get a shot to wipe smiles off many faces next year.
-
So you tell me WIU is better than SDSU? Or, is it possible that SDSU rested starters to avoid injury heading into the playoffs or just flat out laid down to avoid UND in the playoffs?
-
The hit on Brady was dirty too IMO. He was fully engaged with a defender trying to tackle him when #33 for UNC comes in for the below the knee hit. We got lucky it doesnt appear to be more serious than it was first thought.
