Too bad team holds a grudge....with Geno Big Dance Dark Horse...without Geno Big Dance Zero Chance....could end up costing Jones his next contract...

    zero chance regardless probably.

If they're picking up the tab for it, sure, why wouldn't I?  College athletes are becoming nothing more than free agents these days anyways.  Can't crack the line-up at a big school?  Transfer to a smaller one.  Have a good year at a small school and think you can make a name for yourself?  Transfer to a bigger one.

I fail to see the problem

So Malik Zaire picked Florida to further his academics...or enhance his NFL prospects?  Just curious...

You wouldn't transfer schools to increase the potential of you earning a living?

  4. can't say I blame either guy. Shanks isn't good enough to play on an ncaa tournament team and Bernstine is probably good enough to go up a tier. Plus I'm not going to kill a kid for taking advantage of the grad transfer rule. Sucks as a fan of UND I guess but good for the kids for having the rule.

I believe that he is the son of former Valley City HS Mr. Basketball Tyrone Terry...not that it necessarily helps our cause but it's still interesting nonetheless...

Not bashing. He could be keeping his possibilities open. He might think he's worth more than UND is offering after a march madness trip. Not out of the realm of possibility.

I expect him to be back at UND.

this is where i am at too

Ok thanks.  It's pretty rare for a player to get drafted in their last year of eligibility but he may have a shot.  Especially as a 6th-7th round flyer.

seems like it would be smart to take a flyer on a guy like that rather than risking having to compete with every other team if he becomes a free agent (especially if you're not a chicago, toronto, etc)

Who? I mean, I like our team, but I don't think I can name 8.

Wolanin, The Euros? ... Are Pogo and Gerisch good enough to be on Team USA? Shaw? Mismash makes sense since he has US Hockey experience.

our euros probably have less of a chance because they will be taking pros in europe

Another source and idk if this is true as he has been unreliable

we will still have women's hockey However no schollies

seems like the scholarships would be pretty low on the list of expenses given all the other expenses that come with hockey

So as stated in the 16-17 thread, Shanks is transferring out.  I wish him nothing but the best and thank him for his contribution to UND and helping bring UND to a championship and NCAA appearance.

What does that mean for next year?  This is a minor blow that could be a bigger blow is Drick does the same thing.  It does thin out the frontcourt a little bit now with Drick and Avants the only two with significant minutes.  Walter is going to have to make a huge jump from year 1 to 2.

Be interesting to see how Jones and company replace the scholarship.  Does he play this with next year in mind or does he play this with the Summit in mind?  I'd say try to find a HS recruit or a freshman transfer and go from there.

every day i wait for the Drick shoe to drop. He's good enough to go play at a higher level of conference if he wants to. although there will be a lot of shots to go around with no more hooker and geno can't take them all

Carson Shanks just tweeted he is leaving UND as a graduate transfer and will play somewhere else while pursuing his Masters degree.

hope he does well somewhere. he wasn't very good but he was a good ambassador for UND

Agreed, Thompson wasn't bad (either was Ausmus). I've actually been pleasantly surprised with how the freshman this year have played (imo the worst defenseman has been Ausmus). I don't think however that any of the three have a high ceiling to be anything more than an ok college defenseman. Same with the group they have coming in next year.

ausmus has been terrible this year i think. kid can't skate. id love to see some good reliable individual possession numbers in college hockey cause it seems like we are always pinned in our own end when he's out there.

Is schedule regularity a thing in MBB?  I guess I've never been much more than a casual fan, but other than the Big Ten-ACC challenge (made for TV) which always falls on the same night of the week, I sort of figured game schedules were unstructured if not completely arbitrary.

bit more of a big deal in conference play for the low and mid majors. the major leagues will basically do whatever espn wants to get their hands on their millions. for example, i am a kansas fan/alum and they play conference games on monday, tuesday, wednesday, friday, and saturday this year.
