i think the city of new york paid out 600 million in ten years just on people slipping on sidewalks?

    600 MILLION

    well

    1. feel free to show a link or some evidence

    2. sounds like your beef should be with the city of new york and not the alerus or anything in ND or "all these fake lawsuits" in general

how do you propose to end all these stupid fake lawsuits?  if the city pays this anything more will call the lawyer on the demers billboard that say "have you bee injured call me"...

my buddy had to burn down his gma's old farmstead by park river bc he was afraid of a lawsuit from people stealing the old copper in the walls. that is stupid and weird that someone can break into his grandma's house and sue his grandma because they might get hurt stealing from his grandma.

i am also curious why you think there are "all these stupid fake lawsuits." that just isn't based in reality (in north dakota anyway. i can't speak to out of state).

also if there truly is a frivolous lawsuit, the person suing could have to pay attorney fees to the other side, which is a pretty good deterrent.

  3. no inside knowledge or anything but just based on reading around and talking to a couple people it sounds like Boschee and Herbst will be among the finalists. Hoping McCollum will as well but I haven't heard much about that.

i understand that...being on a public road is much different than being in a private business or residence.

well the same goes for say homeowner insurance or insurance a business would have. anyway, i think you're arguing for the way things ought to be whereas i am saying how things are, so nevermind.

    and insurance is free?

i don't think you're following what i am saying. say you're driving your car and get into an accident and get sued. your car insurance carrier is going to hire an attorney and also pay out whatever they settle for or get at trial, so you're not paying the premium (which you have to do to be able to have a car) and the costs of the lawsuit.

looked it up...nope stupid.  u enter the Alerus Center, Lowe's, or your friends house and you get injured for any reason you shouldn't be able to sue the owner of the Alerus, Lowe's, or your friend..bottom line if you feel unsafe at an event with 10k fans at the Alerus center watch it at home, if you feel unsafe at Lowe's where they stack ovens ten high shop at Dakotah TV and Appliance, and if you go to a friends house or they have five dogs and five staircases ...go home.

i'm genuinely curious why you think this

not a lawyer...so what does that mean?

basically if a jury thinks the person suing is equally at fault to the person getting sued, the person suing cant get any money. also, if the jury says the person suing is say 25% at fault for what happened, that person would only get to recover 75% of the money they otherwise would.

nope. fight it and change the laws where people can't sue people for being uncoordinated.  once you walk into Lowe's or any private business or residence it's on you to assess if you feel safe to shop, eat, or visit friends.  If you feel unsafe go back to your house and drink a beer by yourself.

there already is such a thing as comparative fault, so congrats

Will these two be competing against each other?

probably not. my guess is santiago will be used more as a receiver than RB while brady will be a 1st and 2nd down RB, and probably will get goalline work as well.

Well the Hawkzi bat signal was turned on... somebody somewhere typed "Fighting Sioux" on an internet forumn....

That triggers a mad dash to their accounts to stamp out injustice and free thought and enforce the agenda.

This fall Grand Forks Central will start the school year with the nickname Knights for the 25th year. 25 years ago me, and other students voted Knights over Pride to become Central’s new nickname to start the fall of 1994. Today you don’t hear Redskins being cheered for at games, no talk of Redskins Forever on social media. So will UND be the same in 25 years from the inaugural Fighting Hawks intro in 2015? Will the division subside? Will it take less/more time to be a united campus under the Fighting Hawks name? I guess time will tell.

I think the nickname committee made a huge mistake letting any of the nickname finalists have Fighting in the name

If we go with a Division II coach, then I believe that Ben McCollum deserves a serious look.  No D-II coach has accomplished what he's accomplished over the past few years, winning two of the last three national championships, including a perfect 38-0 this season, and 7 of the last 8 conference championships, so he has nothing left to prove at that level.  Plus, he's young (38), is from the Midwest (Iowa), and obviously knows how to recruit, as most of his players are from the Kansas City area, where he has a lot of competition from several other DI and DII schools in the area.  Also, he's a two-time national coach of the year.  Moving up from DII, he would probably get a bump in pay, even with what UND can afford to pay.

I agree. He’s going to get a lot better job than this one though

I'm guessing his record in 5 point games is pretty good. But like many greats...his teams generally win by more than 5 and if you do beat Duke, you probably arent gonna win by a lot.

this is only since 2001-02, but he's not great in close games

Probably not a fair comparison, but Coach K was 33 when he became the head coach of Duke.  (Previously had 5 seasons of DI HC experience at Army)

i'm not saying those guys don't exist (and they're getting more prevalent at the mid and low major levels) but coaching isn't like playing where if you're not good right away it probably means you won't ever be (or if you move along really slowly it means you aren't good)

I was out of touch with UND BB when Herbst was on staff, so when that name was brought up, it was unknown to me.  He does seem like a good candidate, and I would be excited for the Herbst era.  I am also very intrigued by Jeff Boschee.  To have a coach that has played in the Final Four and under legendary coach Roy Williams would definitely be a real shot in the arm on multiple levels - media, recruiting, donors.  My only concern - with those experiences, why hasn't he gone further than Missouri Southern HC already?

he's not even 40 yet. 3 years as a HS coach, 4 years as a college assistant, and then 5 as a D2 head coach is a perfectly reasonable path.

I am curious about your reasoning regarding Phillips.

He had what, 3 good seasons out of 7 at NDSU? And one of those was with Miles' players. And then he took over an Ohio program that had been one of the better mid major programs in the area and borderline ran it into the ground. You could argue he didn't get the support he needed, but he's also not going to get it here.

I think he deserves credit for what he did his last two years at NDSU, but then you're banking on those two years being what he is rather than the rest of his career, which id rather not do.

Ben McCollum, Northwest Missouri State University.  Only about 38 years old and has lead N. W. Mo. St. to two national division II titles in the last three seasons, including a perfect 38-0 this season.  Big time up-and-comer.  2019 national coach of the year; 7 conference titles in the last 8 seasons.

he and Boschee (Jeff) should be the top 2 on any candidate list in my opinion

I heard at the local watering hole that when we had the fighting sioux nickname, the money was rolling in from donors at such a high level, that state funding wasn't even needed for UND.  Now that they have that little postal dove logo, nobody is donating, it's no wonder they are having money issues.

    #SIOUXFOREVER!

    ;)

that would be as unsurprising as it is disappointing
