  1. Haha, I hadn't seen the first one. He's kinda gone off the deep end, but it doesn't change what he created. Someone should explain to him that addressing everyone who disagrees with you online is not a good use of time.
  2. As long as it doesn't infringe upon patents/copyrights/etc and isn't harmful to others (which is subjective), it should be allowed. Also, minimize environmental degradation, but not with bureaucracy. My grandparents' former homestead in Western ND was used by some Texas fly by night scum to dump their hazardous waste on their way out of town. Crucify those bastards.
  3. Hamsterdam, which I referenced a few pages back. The scene with Bubbles walking through it was intense. I'm left-libertarian and generally agree with full on legalization assuming the drugs are monitored and don't get cut with nasty stuff. It boggles my mind that fellow libertarians are cool with populism (Trump OR Sanders) and how many slid so easily into fascism aka authoritarianism.
  4. Feel free to cite actual characters, situations, and topics from the show. The Wire was the greatest show ever made, and I considered using it as a paper topic in academia. Love to discuss it with anyone, anytime.
  5. Sounds like you watched, but didn't understand, The Wire.
  6. LOL'd at liberal aliens probing. Haha
  7. On my way back to my beach house until there's a vaccine. Sorry to disappoint.
  8. You mean to tell me the hedge funds who hold the majority of Apple and Nike stock won't have 20% returns for their investors born into multi-generational wealth?!?!? The horror....the horror. Oh wait, they also hold Amazon stock, so they won't bat an eye. Few if any small/local businesses were impacted, and the mall right there is doing curbside pick up. Also, while Apple was closed, Nike is open.
  9. As of today, I can report that the city of Portland is surprisingly not in bad shape at all. Decent amount of windows boarded up near the downtown precinct, but most of it is covered in very impressive street art. More of the stores and restaurants are open than I expected. Some stray spray paint hasn't been covered up, but it's clearly been overblown. The site of the assault the other night looked like it did when I got off the train there for the last however many years. Pics are a tag near the precinct, the Apple store, Nike store (loving the Neil Young lyrics) and precinct itself in that order. Obviously this is daytime, but there are no signs of burnings, broken windows, etc.
  10. Especially the weather.
  11. Crime goes up in a recession, could it have anything to do with that? Is Minneapolis the new Detroit, taking the crown from Fargo?
  12. Using the Charlie Kirk "I wonder why" as part of an argument is not a good way to be taken seriously. I'm not offended if you address the fact that it is black-on-white crime that has so many people riled up. Just be forward with it in a coherent manner. The big difference between the two is one has a lone wolf acting out with others trying to prevent his actions, while the other has accomplices aiding and abetting his actions. Both belong in jail regardless of context. But when Floyd first came into the news, my first thought was what did he do to get arrested; had he shot at a cop (or civilian) it would have been much more justified.
  13. Elliot Rodger and Roy Den Hollander would be proud of this post.
  14. I want the context of the situation before coming to a conclusion. If he was minding his own business it would be different than if he was behaving like the people in the video. Again, one person acted out, not the entire group of people. PS, did Fargo ever become the new Detroit? You voiced some thinly-veiled concerns about the direction of your own town in that infamous thread.
  15. I see one person acting out with others trying unsuccessfully to restrain him. Certainly not enough to convince me that the entire movement is violent or Portland is no longer a safe place to live. I'm curious about the back story of the guy assaulted, why was he there and what resulted in his truck crashing? @Oxbow6 Speaking of folks driving by BLM activists, What are your thoughts on this video?
  16. Link? Chances are I won't approve of it unless it was Andy Ngo getting beat up.
  17. Put this in a museum. The perfect post. Truly captures the mentality of Trump Trash. Willing to flex in any direction to find a way to defend him.
  18. While I agree, it's not like you can suppress rallies decrying police brutality and violence with exactly what they are (supposedly) protesting.
  19. I was responding to a post about crime in Portland. Also, LOL at you being afraid of anarchists with a leaf blower.
  20. Having grown up in Minneapolis, I was far more shocked by what happened there. Lake and Hiawatha was my light rail stop at one point. Spent a few hours surfing that weekend and came back to find 200+ messages from group chats with friends back home. Portland is desensitized to it after all the white trash rallies to rile up Antifa over the last few years, which took place exactly where !@#$ is going down right now. Minneapolis doesn't have to worry about junkies setting up shop since the weather is miserable for so much of the year. As for policies, you're being vague so I'm not sure to what you refer. Allowing protesters to assemble? Not shipping the homeless away for others to deal with? Allowing Somalians to form a resettlement community?
  21. As a Portland resident, I can tell you that most crime is perpetrated by transient addicts (usually Vets, former high school football players, or other roles at high risk for injuries that result in a painkiller prescription) whose drug use elsewhere resulted in the local law enforcement taking the lazy route and putting them on a bus to Portland rather than rehabilitate them in their community. Because Portland doesn't ship them off when they run afoul of police here, they are here to stay until a friend or family member says it's okay to send the person to stay with them. There are some losers and scumbags among the locals, but most junkies and criminals are non-natives. As a healthy white male over 6 feet with a confident stride, I'm not afraid of anything happening to me anywhere in the city. Couldn't say the same thing in many post-industrial rust belt cities in this country, or in most of the countries I've visited. I wouldn't leave my bike unlocked or valuables visible in my car, but when I've done those things accidentally nothing happened. The Antifa crowd is really just anarchists that are too stupid to realize they allowed their enemies to label them and use their actions for fear mongering. Tons of white trash come from just over the river in Vancouver WA to provoke them, and they fall for it every time. The narrative that Portland is a shithole is bogus. There are some tent cities and parts of downtown that are trashed, but it's better to localize it and tolerate it (a la Hamsterdam) than try to fight it everywhere. Only a few parts are affected. I'm going into my office downtown this week for the first time in a while after spending the quarantine at my beach house, I'll share pictures of what it looks like since my building is in the thick of it. From what I've seen and heard it's a few storefronts and parks that got destroyed, but not nearly as widespread as portrayed. TLDR: Portland crime isn't Antifa, it's junkies from out of town that end up here. Don't let fascist propagandists tell you otherwise
  22. Are you saying BLM, a group opposed to the omni-present militarization of our police force, is fascist? Mind-blown.gif
  23. ....Do you know what delusions of grandeur means? He isn't deluded into thinking he is a public figure or super hero. Stick to words with fewer syllables and reposting fascist propaganda.
  24. Tax your house? Yes, it's called Georgian economics. It's almost universally accepted as the best approach to taxation. Tax your inheritance? I doubt you have anywhere near the amount worth taxing coming to you. Tax your gas? How else do we pay for the our decaying infrastructure? Bridges are in bad shape all over the country. No Police? Kamala is a cop in attorney clothing. No Free Press? Republicans are the ones crying fake news while falling for silly conspiracy theories (and electing freakshows that espouse them). Tax your 401k? Do you mean IRA? 401k is tax-deferred. No zoning laws? You mean like Houston has no zoning laws resulting in sprawl filling in flood plains? Sweet post bro.
  25. To his credit, he didn't announce it:
