We have been fortunate on the injury front. Strinden and the other guys down the line chart will get their chance if we start having injury problems.

Best part about this game is they finally looked like they did a couple months ago, like they can play with anyone. Even when they swept Alaska, they didn't look that great. Tonight wasn't perfect, but it seemed like everyone was fully engaged. They won more battles in the first period than they did in 6+ periods against CC.
Also, SC is among the teams that were just clearly better than UND last year, and it sucked to watch those games. So it was nice to not get run over again.
I was encouraged by seeing our guys take the body at key points down the stretch.

Hope we are better at 4/4 than 3/3

It's the Berry "Play not to lose" scheme so far in the 3rd
Seldom works

Methinks St Cloud is for real. We will have our hands full next weekend.

I’d play bothe of them next weekend. Denver has done this kind of goalie rotation from time to time with great success.

It so. And they appear to be working harder. No rewards yet, but I have a suspicion they’re coming.
If Gabinet can recruit better skaters in Omaha than our staff can, then we shouldn’t let him leave Grand Forks this weekend.

I hope to hell that the team is sick. That would be the best scenario. They cannot be playing this poorly if they are healthy
They were supposedly sick for the CC series. our weekly excuse?
Soiling their breezers but not sure it’s from sickness.

Back to the blind flip to center ice for our breakout. I guess that’s just the Nodak patented breakout at this point.

When it gets tough out there our go to breakout play is flipping it up to center ice and chasing it. Even on the 3 on 3. Incredible.

Boo berry?
Berry is a train wreck.

Blake will not go much further in hockey with his nonchalant or should I say nonexistent defense. Hard to keep a guy like that on the ice at North Dakota.

Persson hasn’t been good his last 3-4 starts. Will likely be sub .900 after tonight on the season after a hot start. Him being good early on was a relief after the last couple of years of sub-par goaltending. Would be nice for him to find it again.
If not, put Hobey back in. Defensive zone coverage has been very suspect and tonight no exception.

Is this game on tv or eapn+ anywhere?

They certainly don’t cover the other team defensively like the Nodak hockey we are used to seeing. But the show lots of evidence that they can be good defensively. They will get there.

If that cc and non-violent push would have been a player called Kleven, would it had been a consistent call.
Kleven woulda got the electric chair!

This team has started to defend the same ways we did last year. Blown coverage left and right. Hedquist has gotten the Drew DeRidder treatment this weekend in that he hasn’t gotten the proper D zone assistance that we were providing in October and November
Amen to that.

Can anyone explain the five minute penalty not earning a game. He cross-checked then also pushed him into the boards.
Like somebody else said it wasn’t really violent. The guy didn’t give much of a push to the back.

The PK was not exactly great on their second goal. Clean pass from dot to dot. Somebody has to get a stick on that.

Agreed. The stats don’t look great but the eye test was decent. We’ve seen most goalies struggle mightily in their first couple of starts in the Ralph, and by comparison I’d say HH looked plenty solid.
Agree. Hope he gets another start tonight which will continue his development and confidence level. We need our backup goalie to be ready.

Looked like both that goal and the 2nd UAF goal were deflections from the point.
I'm just glad he was able to get some action both in the exhibition and tonight.
That said, hopefully Ludvig is good to go tomorrow. It’s been great for him to get some game action. We will need him before this season is over.

I hope our AD had a chance to meet with the Under 18 coach. Appears to know what he’s doing.
Denver travels to REA.

I got the notice of the weekly Champion Club lunch in GF this week. I didn’t notice DU coach Carle on the speaker agenda. I live out of state and have never been to one of these lunches, but remember seeing that the opposition coach was sometimes invited. I saw a video of Gwazdecky speaking to the group once.
