My understanding is the MN schools don't get any choice in who they get to play in football.  They are thrown into a conference and then only get a couple out of section games, but I think even those are assigned "rivalry" games.  This was all down a few years back, because some schools had such a hard time scheduling.  And I certainly could be wrong on this, but I know Pequot and Park Rapids are on EGF's schedule every year and Pequot is like 4 hours away.  I can't imagine the school truly wants to go that far to play. Roseau used to be on, but got switched out when they dropped down a class.

Conferences are put together by the schools for all sports.

The issue is what the MSHSL calls “district scheduling”. From the bylaws:

If it is now an e-ticket for admission a screenshot should do the trick I would think.

I've done that before at other events using a similar system.

Screenshot from my Apple wallet. I do this most home games.  Go to myUND Ticketmaster account and send tickets to my wallet. Then screen shot them and email or text if I can’t make it and am able to sell that night’s tickets.

  3. Bison06,

You’re right. The players don’t give $.02 about this game as opposed to any other game. That’s why you have players from Florida or Georgia or wherever up on a stage celebrating FCS title #6 leading the crowd in a “siouxsuck” chant. Because they don’t care about this game. Because they don’t understand what this game means to the community that the represent. Because they couldn’t come close to understanding what this game means to the little bars on Main Street in Anytown, ND.  Because they can’t comprehend what this game means to those that have walked the path to the field from the locker room before them. You’re right. It’s not a rivalry.

Oh, there will be alcohol considering Brick and Barley is co-hosting and listed as the “adult beverage vendor” for the concert

I would also think many students will venture home for the three day weekend.  Those that stay, may tailgate and then head to Johnny Holm at University.  Hope I’m wrong though...

You realize “Fabulous Fargo Dome” gives you away, JBB?

May as well throw in a “Big Dakota 3”.

Plus a reference to the “Boarder Marker”.

It’s cute that Bjornson found his way back to the internets.

Saint Thomas is an academic focused school that is not going to move up to d2 - d1.

Moorhead State - Is the school that makes the most sense as it would be in partially untapped market, and could likely play its games at scheels arena until they could build there own facility in Moorhead. However I don't know how much will there is on campus to give it another shot... haven't seen that NHL feasibility study reach out to try and help them or any of the other smaller schools.

Crookston's  big issue is its small size and close proximity to UND, also the only arena in crookston is the one that the Eagles played in in there d-3 days even after renovation only seats 1200, the Current WCHA requires a Minimum of 2500 seats in an arena, and I'd imagine the New conference is going require at least the same amount and possibly others things.

UMC’s last year with a varsity hockey team was 2008-09. The new rink in Crookston was opened the following year in 2009. The old rink where UMC played was demolished, not renovated. There’s a dike protecting the city where the rink once stood just off Highway 2 as it crossed the Red Lake River.

That said, I don’t see UMC having the funds to re-start a varsity hockey team without dropping other sports. Football?

And unless rules have changed again, D3 is not an option and was one of the main reasons the sport was initially dropped... the NCAA didn’t allow a D2 school to field a team at a lower classification.

new urea plant is working out well for Dakota Gas, still unclear why CHS and the Great Plains Nitrogen plants cant make the economics work

CHS situation was more about getting instant gratification with the CF Industries opportunity than economics issue. They walked away from a $100 million investment in infrastructure. The timeline coincided with one of the largest bankruptcies in the history of agriculture in Brazil where CHS was a significant creditor, as well as other issues that led to a CEO change.

Looney, 43, played collegiately at Eastern Oregon. His other college coaching experience includes two seasons as an assistant at Wisconsin-LaCrosse and one season as an assistant at North Idaho. Six of Point Loma’s 16 players this past season were Washington state natives, and the San Diego Union Tribune reported that Looney grew up in Spokane, Washington, which is just over the Idaho-Washington border.”

Its embarrassing for the sport of hockey based on their age and their size but other than that it's normal as hell

How many of them end up being good enough to where Berry actually follows through with the offer?  My guess is 2.

It will be ok. Has happened in the past in other sports. Seems like college basketball and football have been able to survive. https://www.google.com/search?q=ncaa basketball eighth grader offered scholarship

Difference with these hockey players is that these kids have not been offered any scholarship, at least that hasn’t been reported anyway.

Some schools have 40+ hockey recruits “committed”... how many of them will actually become scholarship athletes?

The rules are changing. They wanted to get a foot in the door prior to the change. Good for them.

    Bresciani - "Make them squirm"
    Morton - "Yes master"

Right. Like Morton wouldn't let UND hang in the wind. I predict Kennedy’s going to come out of this as UND president, with an extension and a raise. And there will be a celebratory party at the large house on 12th and University in Fargo. If for whatever reason Bresciani was on the hot seat, he likely has an open checkbook with signed checks right now.

  11. So, he sends the “UND Community” a statement saying he and his wife, Debbie, are “excited for this new opportunity but sorry to leave UND.” And he has made reference to June 15, 2019, being his last day at UND. And he has made comments in Colorado publications basically stating ND consists of racists, sexists, and hicks.

Seems the cat has eaten the canary, and has been caught.

He sends Hagerott another email like this one and he probably should be dismissed for insubordination anyway.

I know.  I tracked him during the year.  He was one of the older guys on the team.  The team was good and he was supposed to be the guy.  Obviously he was a top 3-4 guy on their team, but he was supposed to be the guy.  Just pointing out facts, he regressed in year two.

You actually saw him play how many times? Regressed based on his stat line?
