  1. Thanks for the updates, folks. And it looks like this one is a recap without any fodder for posters of anyother school's fans to piss and moan about. ??? I take it Sidney Crosby's name didn't come up. ;);):p

  2. Goon, I was just about to post on this myself. I am pretty ignorant of DI vs. DII debate. But am curious if anyone thinks this may help make UND decide to go DI.

Also, are there any other schools in WCHA that are in a position to change there status? CC? Denver?

I thought one of the Denver fans had mentioned that they were completely DI now?

    Denver is. Tech is not.

  3. Craig Perry -- former UND goalie -- I believe he's employed with the GF school system --- anyone with more info......

He played for the Sioux in 83/84 season. Was a backup to Jon Casey. Also coached at UND under Gino Gasparini in 91/92 and 93/94. He was GF Central's hockey coach for a while in the 90's. He is now the athletic director for GF Public Schools.

  4. It was BRIDGES. Hard to believe, huh? Apparently they haven't gotten enough press lately from the Heraldo so they're looking for publicity elsewhere.

David Dodds will most likely have this story on the front page of tomorrow's paper. I'm guessing below the fold, though. It will at the very least make the front page of the 'Local' section. It's not like they can come up with an original thought on the topic. I'm surprised the Herald hasn't tied the beating and alleged urinating on the American Indian by police down in the Twin Cities to the Sioux nickname. You can bet that Vernon Bellecourt has.

  5. He'll handle tickets

Just curious as to how he gets the game tickets. I know that there has been some controversy in this, i.e. St. Cloud State

If he gets them through UND, how can he already be all set for Mankato, since FSC members/parents, do not have to let UND know if they need tickets until the Monday before the games?

The St. Cloud problems resulted from the responsible person being on vacation when the tickets were to be allocated. I know of many prominent FSC members that were unable to obtain tickets at that time through UND. Yet Pearson's group still received their's.

    Just curious.

  6. This is kind of cool:

Background for Rep. Rod Froelich, D-Selfridge, Sponsor of House Bill No. 1356:

Ranching. Bismarck Junior College. North Dakota State University.National Guard 6 years. County commissioner 1994-98. North Dakota local brand inspection. North Dakota Stockmen's Association. American Legion. Past member of Knights of Columbus. Elks. Married. 4 children. Wife's name Kathryn. House since 1999.

Yeah, well, he's still a UND fan. ;) Has to be, right Tony? :D

  7. Nick Naumenko played hockey for the Suesies in 1992-96. I think he's with the Wild. Most Sue fans are too stupid to figure out who their own Alumni are. ;)

What? Who mentioned Nick Naumenko anyway? It surely wasn't a Sioux fan.

If you're the smart one, then why do you *think* he's with the Wild? Shouldn't you know?

He is NOT with the Wild, either. He is playing in a European pro League for a team called the Mannheim Eagles.

Nice first two posts. Looks like we have another idiot on the SiouxSports.com Forums. :D

And what does any of this have to do with SDSU and an anti-Division I(aa) petition?

  8. A woman called Eddie up today and read him a riot act. Later on in her conversation with him, she was surprised to hear that he was the FOOTBALL announcer for UND games, and not hockey. Jeez, if you are going to bitch at someone, at least have some of the more important facts straight.

Anyway, Schultz said "If they (UND) are able to remove me from the play-by-play of UND football, then maybe Clear Channel revokes the entire contract for UND sports. UND Sports does not run Clear Channel. It does not fund the payroll for the 26 stations in North Dakota." Is that a threat, Eddie?

This has been nothing more than a ratings stunt so far this week. Eddie is as unprofessional as they come on this one. A 20 minute rant that ends with Eddie saying "What an ass" is over the top. Dean Blais is owed an apology. Period.

  9. That's too bad. If this had happened a few years ago, who knows what would have happened to Myron. Now he has obviously matured a great deal, is married, and a father. I think I heard Rich say on WDAY last week that Myron had a 3.0 GPA last semester.

Does he have the option to stay at UND and finish his education? How will this affect his scholarship? Does the NCAA have any say in that? (I doubt it.)

I am guessing that he will be leaving and giving pro ball a shot.

I didn't get the opportunity to get over to GF to watch him live and now I regret it. :D

  10. When you see Duvie Wescott skating a regular shift at defense for Columbus, it doesn't take much to see that Roche would have been much better off in another organization if he wanted to play in the NHL right away. Hopefully the Wild will give him the chance he deserves. If not, there probably won't be a lot of decision making once the end of his current contract is here.

  11. So losing on the road at USD on a last second shot drops UND in the polls? Then you have UNO losing AT HOME on a last second shot to UND, and they don't drop?

Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. :(

  12. :( Why? Could we stay if we want? Where would they move you to, upper deck?

schmidtdoggydog you're right to many people dreaming, you're there to watch hockey.

The re-seating of the arena is going to happen, whether nets are installed or not. Although it is a convenient excuse, it is not the reason for the seat changes. It all goes back to the suites being built at a level where the ice is impossible to see when the crowd in the lower bowl is standing.

  13. PCM:

You said: "Sorry that being one of many people threw you for a loop."

Your perception of me is the worst and thats fine, but why hide with a plural noun? I wasnt thrown for a loop, your intentions are very clear, but your usage certainly was a question in my mind.

    YOUR TURN WORDSMITH.

    Dude,

Pat said "You have to be one of the most classless, clueless, shameless, hypocritical people ever to graduate from SDSU."

The key here is 'one of'. Had he omitted 'one of' (which would have been entirely feasible), then the correct word would be 'person'.

I knew your "final point" rant was too much to hope for. Why would anyone reading your posts, though, expect you to actually be truthful in one of them? As others have said continuously, as long as you feel the need to call Sioux fans 'racists', you will get no respect on this forum.

  14. I'm just a little surprised there's been no mention of using the old Engelstad Arena "even a little"... It's a pretty decent backup, as long as it doesnt rain in December. ???

By that time, the 'old' Engelstad should be well into the renovation stages. It will make one heck of a basketball arena. Sure, it was nice. I like the new one a little better, though. :p

  15. What proof does UND have to offer to show that programs and studies at UND that benefit Native Americans are paid for with hockey or any other athletic revenue? I bet there is none.

When arguing about whether SDSU should go D-I(AA) or not, I am pretty sure that one of the reasons that you stated was because athletics at that level were sure to increase donations by alumni and friends of SDSU since there would be pride in the athletic program. This money would allow for the academic and research dollars to increase as well, according to you.

Question... If a change in the level of athletics at SDSU is sure to increase research dollars and alumni contributions, then why are you so adamant that UND's athletic programs do not benefit the University as a whole? I guarantee you there are plenty of people out there that would dramatically decrease their contributions to the University if the 'Fighting Sioux' name were dropped. Consider me one of them.

As to Scott's question, I concur. You are nothing but a troll that is full of nonsense. You have yet to add any inkling of substance to any thread on this entire message board.

You were the one that checked out. No one told you to go. ???

  16. I get it now, JBB. You, as an extension of NDSU, are threatened by UND. That can be the only explanation of your hostility towards UND. What does it matter now what Ed Schultz said this past summer, JBB? What does it matter now what the GF Herald wrote about NDSU's move to D-I(AA), JBB? What does it matter now what some posters on this and other message boards said about NDSU's move this past summer, JBB? Last I heard, NDSU was moving up and UND was 'NOT MOVING UP AT THIS TIME'. A couple of posters on this, and others, message board aren't going to change that. Or are they? ???

I indeed understand that the NCC has since it's inception been a NCAA D-II athletic conference. Three of the hockey playing schools are relatively new programs (last 10 to 15 years). There are actually FOUR hockey programs at schools in the NCC. That is not even a majority of the conference. Take a look back through the years and you will see that most of the time UND and NDSU were on an island together when it came to the NCC. That is fact.

Maybe it is time, JBB, for your infatuation with what happens at UND to cease.

Mr. Administrator, we definitely need an 'IGNORE' feature. Thank you. :p
