  1. I'd say true, but it has been true for both NDSU and UND. Until this past biennium. The funding formula did not reward the large research schools, of which there are two. Yours and mine. The formula was recently changed so that NDSU and UND would get an appropriation that reflects the number of students served. Of course, the formula changed just in time for the state budget to go to s#!t, and so we haven't seen the boon to our budgets we once thought would be coming. Funding formulas aside, I think it is true that when it comes to discretionary and one-time appropriations, UND has always been favored over NDSU. The professional schools are viewed more favorably than the research enterprise here.
  2. FCS national title vs the Peach Bowl. FIFY. I'd choose the Peach Bowl, or any New Year's 6 bowl, everyday and twice on Sunday.
  3. Yeah... Poor UCF. They got to play in the Peach Bowl on New Years Day with 8 million watching while they beat Auburn. But some of my compadres over at Bisonville think that playing on January 6 in a small soccer stadium for another FCS championship is far better. The small thinking by some over there drives me crazy. I know it didn't happen and it was naive to imagine it could have, but I wish SiouxVolley's predictions about an FBS WAC coming back to life had come true. For a short time last year, I had hope of an FBS league that Dakota schools could actually belong to.
  4. Lol. Fair enough. And I definitely would love EWU. I just assumed there'd be some state politics at play in Idaho that would require the pairing.
  5. That's not bad. But even better if the Summit also brings in MT-MTState and ID-IDState and starts a football league.
  6. There's a real rift among Bison fans re: FCS vs. FBS. It gets rather testy sometimes. The forever-FCS/"let's play for championships" crowd has the edge on numbers. But I wonder if MVC expansion without the Dakotas, and all the dominos that will fall as a result, will push some people into the "let's think proactively and imagine what could be" camp. Then who knows what could happen, especially if all four Dakota schools were of one mind.
  7. I always liked Sioux Volley's WAC prediction. Although my recollection is that he often advocated that idea to the exclusion the MVFC schools. I think all the Summit/MVFC schools need to be fed up with the MVC for the WAC idea to get real traction. Then a lot of schmoozing needs to take place to cajole the montana and idaho schools. But I'd love it. Short of WAC/FBS, I agree with Nodak651 that even at the FCS level, I prefer the league that has the idaho, EWU, the montanas, and the dakotas together with Denver, Omaha, NMSU, and Weber State over the Summit/MVFC. That is a kick-butt basketball conference and an awesome FCS conference.
  8. I'm mostly offended by flagrant fouls. Pushing someone who is in the air from behind and extending through the push shows Bernstine to be a POS. The antics of others in Fargo or GF ruffles feathers of the other fan bases, sure. But physically hurting someone is poor form, as I said. And Bernstine was the only one who had balled fists as best as I can tell when the scuffle started. He even pushed a ref. I can't believe he hasn't gotten in any kind of trouble. As far as Richman...I don't know why he called the time out. I'm already ready for a new coach who knows something about offense, so I'm not going to spend a lot of time defending him.
  9. The clip also does show the very cheap foul by Bernstine which led to the scuffle. That foul was poor form. Granted, he might have been frustrated at the loss. But UND wasn't exactly humble in victory in Fargo.
  10. And by the way, I think the Betty is very nice arena as well. Now we have two nice arenas on the Red River. Although what I really wish we had on campus is Minot State's dome.
  11. In the pic, the area on the top that looks like bleachers is just concrete. Actually there are new seats going in there. They are individual green fold-down seats, but they are not cushioned. The rest of the seating in the arena consists of cushioned seats. Actually...except for the student section behind one of the baskets, which is bleachers. That upper level will be general admission, I'm told.
